  1. Top of the passanger fender where the paint failed and the bumper cover is deteriorating under it. Foglight surround and the damage/fade that happens to the paint and the clouding of the lens. How the front bumper cover will start to shrink away from the headlight lenses and housing area, plus the paint failing there as well. Front bumper starts to buckle down under the foglights from the heat they generate. Rear bumper starts to fade bad where the breakover is (the transition from under the taillights to the body molding). Body molding itself shrinks and becomes brittle at the edges. Paint fades and becomes dull even on the underside of the rear spoiler.
  2. , , , , , These are some more pics of the spots that fail on a Southern FOX Mustang (paint always suffers, along with the drip moldings and interiors). The 5.0 badges will fade and the metal in the center of the 0 will fade bad.
  3. Looking good Jason. I like what you are doing for the Coupe.
  4. Looking good so far. I look forward to seeing this one finished. As I see it, Revell-o-Gram is missing the boat by not offering up a New Edge (1999-2004) Mustang GT variant being that there are so many of the real car out there. Besides, they could also do the Bullitt, Mach 1, other special models from the same base.
  5. well Bob; considering you are one of the recognized leaders in this area of model building, I can honestly say I will have to give it a try. Thank you for your input and reasoning behind why you do it. It is always nice to know either why or how something is done/works.........and you taking the time to explain did just that.
  6. There is an amendment to this meeting: some of us met over at Rons place Thursday to work on the Club Diorama. Between 4 heads and half a brain, I think we got a pretty good start to this thing going (I know Mike got pics!). We will be meeting again sometime for some more work on this (by the way guys, I spent about $40.00 at Hobby Lobby today getting some stuff for this project). I also will be up in New Carlisle in the morning (if it isn't raining sideways) to snap some pics of the drive-in hot dog joint. I think we got some good ideas flowing, and I will see what I can do.

    Honda crx

Not that my opinion matters, but here goes. The CRX came out well, but there are some little things that need attention. Being an attention-to-detail kind of fool that I am (thank 4 years of Military service for that) I noticed that the wheels are directional in pattern, and you have one wheel going one way and the other going the opposite way on the same side of the car. Also, car specific here, the corner markers could have been done in Tamiya Clear Orange for the proper look. Most sunroofs (or TTops) that I know of have some sort of factory tint. The two-tone, while well done, looks textured. A bit of sanding with fine grit paper and an overcoat or three of clear would do wonders for it. All in all, a nice build for many of your 'firsts'. I look forward to seeing more of your builds and to watching your building skills grow and mature.
  8. Got the list amended and you added Jeff. Whenever you decide what to build, let us know and we'll get it listed.
  9. I just happened to have a set of the S-02 tires in my stash Mike! While not absolutely perfect, they look sexier and will work for my project. Thanks again!
  10. Thanks for the pictoral and info Mike........looks like I know what I need to be looking for now. Eric, thanks for the tip on the Scoobie.......I think I have that kit and will see what I can do with its' tires! You guys are great! My doomed-to-be-forever-unfinished models thank you!
  11. Maybe all of his schoolwork finally overtook his life, or he is actually TAKING HIS TIME on a build!? All joking aside; remember it is summer break, so he may be on a vacation.
  12. I do mostly a lot of not finishing! Doesn't really matter the subject, but mostly street goin cars, trucks, and a few drag cars.

Where at in Huber do you live?

  13. I will start by telling you what I have and we'll go from there. I have the Pegasus Hobbies stepped 19" aluminum sleeves with low profile tires. While the tires included will work for the fronts of my Mustang Project, the rears are tiny (even when compared to my real rear tire at an inch smaller rim diameter....my real rubber are 315/35-18 BFG KDW-NTs). Any Ideas as to where I can find some 19" tires with a somewhat thicker sidewall to fit these sleeves (the 2006+ Revell Mustang Kit rubber is a little too tall sidewall size and not wide enough and the Aoshima 19" tires are too large in rim diameter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Using the 19" step sleeves and low-pro tires from Pegasus (thanks ScaleDreams!) and some rims from a 1/32nd scale Die-Cast, I am fairly close to having a similar set of wheels in scale as to what I have sitting in my bedroom waiting to go on the real car. I had to shave the Die-Casts down (both diameter and thickness), remove the center spinner (even though the real ones came with spinners, I am using regular Ford SVT centers instead), and have the lug nut holes drilled. Chrome finish has been stripped and awaiting paint. I will be shooting the centers in Sand-Cast Aluminum with the recesses in Dark Gray and polishing the wheel lip to a mirror shine. Lug nuts will be made from .030" Plastruct hex and painted Spaz-Stix Chrome. Looks like I have a slight bit of work to do once the planes leave the hanger tonight.
  15. Got more done on yours than I do on mine, so I would say you are making progress!!
  16. 3 years ago or not, it still looks great. The only thing I see is the headlight decals on the Funny Car........they are both the same pattern but one is 180* out from the other! I wish I could build as well as you do.
  17. I can help you with the FOXES Mike!
  18. Jason; I finally made it to the yard (it quit raining on my days off for once) and he had exactly ONE coupe...1991-93. However, all plastics were gone, as was the back seat and package tray. It would be cool to use as a reference if you were building a gutted car though, as all structural members were exposed.
  19. I realized that after I hit the 'sign out' button Mike....but you are correct on the Z34 being a Lumina! As to the plastic water tray that goes under them; I have made an angled box, the largest side drilled from the lip to halfway down the side, and a water drain hole/hose at the bottom of the box. This way, the vents become functional without letting rainwater get all over my engine bay! Believe me Mike, if any of my local yards would have had the GTP vents, I would have taken them over the Lumina units in a heartbeat! But free and Die-Cast beats not available and plastic. Personal opinion; I was really looking for some of the 1979-1982&1/2 Datsun 280ZX Turbo units, as their shape would be almost a dead-on match for the contour and angle of the FOX hood. I do have a set of the 87-88 T-Bird TurboCoupe NACA ducts and all related underhood hardware/plumbing I was going to use to do a RamAir style hood for the car!
  20. Most hobby shops that sell R/C stuff will have it, as it is meant for that crowd and will be stocked with the Paints meant for R/C bodies.
  21. The Yellow can........but please don't kill me (whale).
  22. The HobbyTown USA in Virginia Beach, Va used to hold a 'contest' of sorts, open to all builds. It was more like a 'show and shine' for their customers to show off their builds. One of their employees (Joe Miles) was an avid builder, and had a binder with literally hundreds of resin and aftermarket contacts under the counter. If you needed something, you could talk to Joe and he would order it through the store. I miss those days.
  23. Cutting the hatch open seems to have been the hardest part right now. Figuring out all the structural detail and placement is going to be fun (luckily, I have 3 1:1 cars I can walk out and look at!). I have decided to make the 'Vert a quick build (thanks to the earlier mentioned cat killing some of the scratchbuilding......nice lookin cat by the way Matt!) and make the 1991GT my full-detail build. I think getting the interior to fit correctly will be one of my biggest challanges. Also, being as my 1:1 will have smoothed/filled inner fenders/engine bay (and the kits engine bay/front framerails are so horribly inaccurate, and there is ZERO radiator core support detail), building the engine bay will be a large undertaking. I am trying to figure out how to even start this (I have an engine bay cut from another scrap body and am in the 'planning, marking, planning some more, fearing the first cut' stage right now). I have shaved the factory camber plates off, drilled the strut holes, and have a scratchbuild set of caster/camber plates sitting in the box for mock-up when the time comes.
  24. Well, with all due respect, if model companies do monitor sites like this.......I can see why they wouldn'y want to do any sort of promotion/contest. We seem to have become deeply segmented and firmly entrenched in our beliefs, and adamantly refuse to see the possibilities. We have abject negativity here, and those who seem to think that something might just work are fools. While most of the arguements here might have some merit; if I were a monitor for a Model company and saw all of this naysaying FROM THE MODEL COMMUNITY, I wouldn't want to promote my company in a contest/sponsor spot either. How do we know it won't work? It might not, but it just might be worth a try too. We sail the skies today because many people tried what said couldn't be done and failed. It just took the RIGHT people and place to succeed.
  25. You do have a point there! ^^^
