  1. Both neat projects. Thats why alot of us build models, cheaper and easier. We just don't get to race them.
  2. I'm still working at this bit by bit. There has been a change of plans. I'm going to leave the body a nice black without weathering it. However, it will still have a low buck flavour to it. I was going to paint the engine traditional GM orange but decided to paint it black instead. Going to be ALOT of black on this one. Among other things I made a roll bar for it. Simple but goes with the period I think. I decided to use the kit seat . I made a bottom for it and added a couple of pieces of styrene to lift it off the floor. I drilled holes in these to "save weight". Of course nobody will ever see them as the doors do not open. Oh well, I know they are there and it only took a minute to drill the holes. I may try to weather the seat to give it the used look.
  3. Looks good. The last picture shows the paint and decals nicely.
  4. Yes this thing looks really good. Your first time? I'd like to see your second try.
  5. Is that the finish your going with for the body? My kinda guy. The greyhound? Your suppose to have fun with these things right.
  6. I agree!
  7. Now this I REALLY like. I hope he takes it down the 1320 to see what it will do.
  8. I'm curious and a bit confused here. Which one is not to scale, the new Black Widow or the new Amt 57 Chevy? And what is the new Amt 57 Chevy? I wasn't aware of one.
  9. What nerves of steel! You have great patience I have to say. Nice to see it saved.
  10. Thanks Mikemc, I had that but lost it.
  11. Thanks, thats a good help.
  12. What 4 speed transmission would have typically been used with 50's and early 60's GM egines for drag racing? When did they make the t-10? What were the 3 speeds called? And what transmission did they mate with the early hemis? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks
  13. Looking very good. That red chassis is quite striking. Body looks good so far. Look forward to seeing it done.
  14. I've got that issue on the way. Did't you have something to do with that?
  15. Thanks Dennis. I actually don't have much for reference photos, but I got enough off E-bay Motors to make do. The interior is going to be black of course like the outside the car. This means it doesn't have to be super detailed as it won't be that noticeable. I painted the body with red oxide primer. Now the fun begins! I'm going to paint it satin black and then wether it a little. I'm trying to decide wether to make an old looking aviation/homemade sort of seat or use a short back bucket seat.
  16. Thanks guys, that explains it. I thought it was a Ford cause the rest of the body looks like one. I love the split winshield.
  17. I would like to build a model along the lines of this Altered pictured below. I havn't seen a coupe like this with the split windshield before. Does anybody know the story on this? Or is that windshield a homemade job? I really dig it!
  18. Very nice Davekin. I like the early rods. Drive em to work or school through the week and out to the salt flats or drag strip on the weekend. I have to admit, the chassis on the old 32s and Model A's are fun. Doing old school builds are even better. More simple and more raw!!!
  19. Thanks guys. I'm hoping this will be a fairly quick build for a change. I'm not going for a show quality paint job, the interior and chassis will be uncomplicated so the only thing really that will take any amount of detail is the engine. I love these early Altereds.
  20. Two excellent builds . They are both beautiful. I think Revell did the right thing with this kit for two reasons. One, it is a nicely detailed kit. Two, it is a 2 door post 150. I wish they would bring out more 2 door posts , 4 doors and wagons. I don't know about the rest of you, but I get tired of all the hardtops!
  21. I got the firewall put in and the engine started. You can see the detail I started to do to the engine with the frost plugs and bumps on the head. It is the 302 out of the AMT Z28. I'm trying to make it look more like a 283 or other early 60's small block concoction. In this picture you can see my attempts to make the interior look stripped . Not an easy task seeing how the reference photos I have are limited. Hope it translates well. Thanks for looking.
  22. Neat concept. Nice change from thr regular Willys.
  23. Very nice. Very clean and I really like the engine. The Alclad really did the job here.
  24. Very nice. What kit is this?
  25. Beautiful! Looks like a show winner to me.
