Why mention it, then not allow open debate? Little strange. Only letting one side of the story out there.

Since you brought it up, why were they OK with providing those things before they were mandated, and only opposed to them after they were mandated? Is it about their religious beliefs, or anti-government beliefs?

1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics probably have something to do with it. You'll never get more out of a fuel than it took to make it, so making one from scratch is pointless. Fossil fuels work because it's all the stored energy from living plants and animals that died millions of years ago. And they were converted to a fuel through natural processes But they don't come close to equaling the energy those living things took to make it, all the energy from the sun and the things they ate, or all the energy exerted from the earth (heat & pressure) that took millions of years to turn that material into fuel. We only get a fraction of all that energy back by burning it. Let's say you can turn natural gas into a fuel that a gasoline engine can burn (and you can). The new "gas" would have less energy than the natural gas it was made from had, that's the 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics (in lay terms, "you can't win, and you can't break even"). Would be better to just convert the engine to run on natural gas. Just like fuel cells require more energy to convert water into hydrogen than the resulting hydrogen has.

Steve Magnante's built model on eBay

Looks to me like he cut the B pillars out of the modern Revell sedan. -

Revell '57 Chevy Convertible.

Body shell looks pretty thin at the top of the doors, I don't think there's enough meat there. Might need to pack some Bondo behind it. -
Revell '57 Chevy Convertible.

Yup, that's pretty much what it is, I'm sure $$$ was a consideration. Connie kit and dual carbs w/ batwing air cleaners look great. For once you get an uptop with a Revell convertible! From the sounds of it this is the swan song of the modern Revell tri-five tooling. Maybe we'll get an all-new one when the do the Nomad and Handyman wagons! If anybody gets one (I'm passing, but I would have passed on it regardless not very many 57 convertible junior stockers!) and would like to trade the dual carb/batwing set up for the Fuel Injection from the 150, PM me. I already have the AMT equivalent, only interested in the new Revell parts. -
Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements

Could be, but that's a current kit. I based my assumption that it's the Taurus by the word "car". -

Cracked up when I saw the customizing tips by Earl Scheib. That's great. Thanks for finding and posting that. -

They're more likely a 2nd color choice as they're the same price as the ones already announced. -

Just so we're all on the same Torino page here: 1970, being reissued: 1974-76 Starsky and Hutch Torino: And just to confuse things even further, the 1972 "Clint Eastwood" Gran Torino, which is mechanically similar to the 74 and, IMHO, would make an awesome follow up... Now get off my lawn!!! -

Yeah, I'm also including the announcement month itself in my math. "Announced in April, scheduled for July", same timeframe as "announced in July, scheduled for October". -

That's why I put in the "great internal communication" dig in the OP. Isn't the first time Tower's done this. Bet there's a Revell Facebook within a few days. -

Let's take the new 67 Camaro as an example. Announced in April for 3rd quarter, later that month Revell had a test shot at NNL East. Kit will be out late next month. Roughly 5 months announcement to shelf and it was slated for July for a while which would have put it at 4 months. 4 months from now is October, which is what Tower's showing (they're almost always wrong, mind you, but it could happen) for the Starsky Torino. -
Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements

Revell went to quarterly announcements this year instead of one big trade show reveal that covered the whole year like they used to do. There was more fanfare with those others because we had a full year or more to talk about them. Tower leaked the 4qtr list early before Revell's official announcement. There's a new guy in charge at Revell now (note to self - I still haven't asked his name). They're going to do some things differently now. -

I think I know what you're thinking, we've already covered it in the 2014 Corvette thread. Two totally different generations. 70 is a unit body, 72+ are body-on-frame. If they use the 70 as a basis for this it would go down as the greatest kit blunder of all time! -

Can you swap the door panels side for side and use the backside? -
Food photography is actually a rather interesting field. Lots of weird tricks they use, like Elmers Glue instead of milk in cereal, mashed potatoes instead of ice cream, they hose vegetables down with WD-40 so they look shiny, bread is often dried and shellacked, etc... They pretty much have to make it inedible to make it look appetizing.

That's the idea. 73 Petty kit with different decals. Kit # I'm showing is MPC-811. Probably still tying up loose ends with box art and licensing why it's not on their site. -
Revell 2014 Corvette Stingray

There's been no suggestion that it is a half-baked end-around, either. When's the last time anybody tried that? AMT's Red Alert Chevelle? All the years the General Lee had the Charger 500 back glass? Some carry-over Deuce parts in the Rat Roaster? Those are end-arounds, but this is a whole generation different vehicle we're talking about here. -

Thanks, Jim. Most of those have been covered in other threads, but good to have them in one spot. I added the Pro Street Thunderbird on my list, I saw it but forgot to make a note when I was putting mine together. -

How so? 70 and 74-76 are totally different cars. And why do a 70 reissue with and without the stripes two months apart if that is the case? Just do the one with. I don't see how Starsky stripes would fit on the 70 fastback roofline anyway... -
It's a neat kit (and I don't think it ever intended to represent any particular gasser), but If total SWC accuracy is want you want, then no. Does have a blown Olds and Hydro, which is what the original SWC Willys had (light blue car kitted by Revell in the 60's) but many details are different between the two (injectors/blower scoop, valve covers, etc...). AMT's interior is cool, sorta like the original SWC seats, but SWC had a stock dashboard. AMT has a fiberglass flip nose, SWC still had a lift-off hood. Later SWC Willys (deep blue and black) had a blown Chrysler like the modern Revell Willys kits. Grab a set of AMT's parts pack Gasser wheels and tires and you'll have the basis for a pretty cool period gasser (though I think the blue-streak Goodyear slicks are more late-60's while the kit itself has an early-60's vibe). That's pretty much what the Retro reissue of this kit is, with an expanded decal sheet.
