  1. Great concept. Engine bash is off the charts. nice work !!
  2. That's GREAT !!!!!!! I find these types of hot rods most intriguing, and as you found out, WAY more fun than slapping a kit together.
  3. When I saw a photo of Chip King's Daytona charger, I knew I had to give it a shot. Not an anal replica by any means, but I was hoping to get the flavor of the real thing. Beautiful racer. Too bad it was destroyed in a crash!
  4. Ed, I gave 'em a shout on the hood. Interesting site. Uncommon engineering: http://www.uncommonengineering.com/
  5. Mine sets that way also. I really don't know if thats typical of the 1:1. Notice that the first step is level.
  6. That's a beautiful build, Mr. Anonymous. Nice work! I was a teenager in the 50's, in Detroit. But I was more interested in being a hooligan back then.
  7. Nice build, Brent. That's a BAD machine !!!!
  8. This old build didn't look good to me. I recently dug it out and redid it. I bashed a new frame out of dragster and funny car parts. Scratched and bashed a new front end, Hopped up the big Ford some, a little grafix by Geezer, and viola - "Chikin Koop'.
  9. Wow, that looks great. Nice work ! I built one of those a couple of years or so ago and didn't like it. Dug it out recently and completely reworked it. I'll post it. Look for "Chikin Koop"
  10. Beautiful, MJ Love that killer engine !!!!
  11. Kevin, That is real HOK ( House of Color) mini flake. sprayed on mixed with clear, sanded, more clear, sanded, candy colors applied, and more clear. Just like 1:1 BTW, I didn't buy this just for the model. It was leftovers from painting my son-in-laws bike.
  12. No, the 40 alongside the garage is way older. It was a bagged kit (?) and the body and fenders, apparently, were from 2 different manufacturers and didn't fit for beans = junker However, I did just post that Lindberg 40 yesterday in the under glass section. 40 Salt LSR Like I said, I gave up on Lindbergs hinges for that truck, and scratched my own.
  13. Modellpularn's WIP salt 40 Ford inspired me to show my 'other' salt racer. This body was salvaged from the HORRIBLE one that was included in Lindberg's L700 I had a reference foto of a really cool flathead with a crank driven blower, so I bashed one up.
  14. Everything said above is true! However, persevere!! A little TLC and some adjusting, the finished model is pretty cool. I canned the kit's doorhinges and mirror brackets. Scratched my own. The 40 Ford is correctly depicted on the box art......JUNK
  15. Boy !!!! That is a beautiful model !!!!!!!! Engine work is extremely awsome!
  16. Actually, Raul, that piece was part of the body. I just kept it in place and did the sectioning above it. Here are 3 fotos I took while I was sectioning. I marked my intended sections by placing tape on the orange body and spraying a thin coat of black. This was 1/4 inch tape for this build. Take off the tape and my sectioning guide lines are pretty indestructable. In the 1st foto, I have already removed the section slice from the nose area.

    El Capon

Had a "Gathering of Outlaws" build on TRaK a while back. This is the ride I took there. Local modeler, Dan Kunick, had givin me the cab and a couple of other parts from the "Orange Blossom Special" hauler. I chopped, sectioned, bashed and put it on a homemade frame. Named it after my fave outlaw.
  18. Thanks everyone. Dan, no decals were harmed in this build. Paint is airbushed with a little brushwork touch up.
  19. I used the engine from a 57 Nomad kit for this build. Scratched a manifold and have 6 resin side draft carbs on it. Grafix by Geezer This was my first model with airbrushed flames.

    "Flammable"

That's NEAT !!!! My hat's off to you wiring a hot wheels model !!!
  21. The roof material was some bridal veil lace that my wife had. it's too big for chicken wire, but I used it anyway. The body, I got off eBay for 10 bucks - was claimed to be Jimmy flintstone. Here is a link to the hot rod that inspired my build. There's a link to a video clip of it going down the street in there somewhere. http://cleverlever99.blogspot.com/ Thanks for the comps.
  22. I got the idea for this build from a 1:1 hot rod that has this conversion on a SBC. 1:1 Rod used motorcycle carbs and a flathead Ford crab distributer on the front of the block. My model is a resin 34 sedan..plus a lot of scratching and bashing. The resin body was already chopt, so I had to make it look like I did it.

    Buttugli

Here's an older build that I dug it out of a storage box to re photograph it. (Old fool should of thought of cleaning it !) This was a Thom Thaylor 34 roadster that I grafted the top off of a Mad Magazine Funny Car onto. Made it look kind of European, hence the name Buttugli. Also because I think it's a tad homely. Trailer is from a Prowler kit.
