  1. These don't come in a kit (as a whole), Doc. The first one was a RPU body with a turtledeck added. The other one was a undersized Revell '34 "California Kid" that I didn't like because it looked out of scale with the rest of my models. I took off the top and narrowed the body for the old roadster build. Both of the old engines, Frontenac and 4 port Riley, were leftovers from other kits that I used more modern engines in.
  2. A couple of years ago, I chopped an AMT Merc. Was kinda proud of myself. Well, along come Revell and mass produces a chopped 49 Merc and thus, leaving nothing to distinguish my hard earned work from the teeming masses of ‘kit assemblers’. Kinda t’eed me off. So, having one of the despised Revell kits fall into my hands, I had no recourse but to extract revenge. The very first thing, I chopped it an additional 1/8 inches. Cut off the rear of the frame and scratched a section to handle the large slicks and differential out of the Taco Trike kit. Mounted the huge crank driven blower from a parts pac Chev on a scratched manifold up on top of the block where it belongs.. I replaced the headlights with a couple of skulls I got at a local bead shop, and stuck a Camero grill and light combo in the grill cavity of the Merc.. A couple of roll pans from the ‘salvage yard’, some airbrush work, and this is the result: SO, THERE REVELL !!! MASS PRODUCE THIS, YA……………. WIP’s in my Fotki : http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...e_cars/49-merc/
  3. Thanks, Raul. That's perfect. I can see that the springs I already have made up are too short. I'll make another set. Appreciate the help. Clay
  4. Acording to my records (scatterbrain), I haven't shown these on this forum. I have a Revell 'Goodguys' 32 roadster kit that I want to build on the same order as these two - really early, no doodads or bling, high boy hot rod. Problem is that the Revellkit has too new parts, namely the bagged rear end, dropped frt axle, etc. I'm bashing up a front axle, and I can probably 'guesstimate' the stock rear end set up, but I'd like to get it close, not anal, but fairly close. Everything I Google turns out modified for hot rods. Does anyone have a pic of a stock 32 rear end setup ?? Thanks, Clay
  5. This car came about from bits and pieces and filled the time inbetween sessions with my "Flip of the bird to Revell" 49 Merc. I used an aftermarket (parts pac?) tube frame, lenghtened. The tub, seat, top and grill shell from the AlaCart, and a Nisson 2400c.c. engine. All told, I'm not real pleased with the finish result. Too high, too long, crappy homemade creamsickle color (1 Shot), But it's done, and will not qualify for a spot in my display case
  6. Awesome build, Raul. Beautiful !!!!
  7. Not much left to say. Beautiful work !!!!!!!!
  8. Homely lil bugger. GREAT detail work !! Especially like the underseat springs. Nice touch. I am curious as to why you left green overspray on the inside of the tires when you went to so much effort detailing the underside ??
  9. NIce lil truck !!!! I like the way it sits and the blu dots!

  18. oh, yeah. The FUN way to model. nice work !!!
  19. This is entirely scratch and bashed. Frame and chassis is from the Lincoln Gangbusters kit. The lower body was a 29 RPU. Top of the body is all scratched. Junk box engine. Wheels are my castings made from a master built on the rear half of one of the gangbuster wheels. Tires are the Gangbuster's. All wood is real stripwood and the iron braces on the bed sides are cast from one I scratched up.
  20. That's beautiful !! Great detail Great engine Great paint Nice work. " a narrow mind is a great thing to waste"
