  1. Fifty bucks ? plus it needs a doner kit? THAT'LL NEVER HAPPEN !! Thanks for the comps.
  2. That's a great looking build ! Nice work !!!
  3. Of all the pics I took, this is as close as i got to a front end shot. Guess i'll have to take some more. Thanks for the comps.
  4. Yeah, Neal. Crystal River Thanks for the comps, everyone.
  5. I preferred it not chopped and by butchered I simply meant that was a $22 kit by the best resin caster in the business that I cut up.
  6. I just finished this up before I had to make an emergency trip to Indiana. Now that I have gotten back, I've been able to get it photographed. This was a resin chopped T coupe. At the time I butchered it, I didn't realize that it was a R&RoM resin kit. But I don't care for the look of a turtle deck on a chopped coupe, and I didn't want it chopped (I got this in a swap) Took off the deck and raised the roof Parts Pac Caddy, R&R0M caddy aircleaner, scratched frame, and salvage yard stuff. Old NASCAR body gave up sheet metal for the back of the body and the cab corners. Some build fotos: http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...tz/1/dechopt-t/
  7. Looks great . Bob. I'm glad you got this finished. Now you'll have a great pair (chopped T's). Was alarmed for a second there, I thought mine would be too alike with yours (Ha, fat chance) on the color. I have mine painted in Duplicolor Toreadore red
  8. Nice lookin model. Good luck.
  9. Beautiful model !!!! But that's not a big surprise when your name is attached to it
  10. Absolutely the coolest! I just love the look of the prototype 1:1 your using.
  11. Nice. I like it!!!! Most fun you've had building in years? Beats assembling a kit any day !!!
  12. This was also a partial kit given to me by my SIL. This kit was evidently a gasser kit. i had to make a new front end and come up with a grill. I thought the car was 'fat' looking, so it has been sectioned 1/8 inches thru the center of the body. I was asked at the time how I painted this and I referred to the WIP fotos in my DPMCC Fotki. Which kind gives the general idea to the process. I still haven't mastered the true fire technique to my satisfaction. Probably because the pioneer of this technique, Mike Lavelle, used many layers of candies, which I was disinclined to invest in. I use 1Shot sign enamel. Also, I can't seem to steer clear of the traditional flame licks. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...s/55-on-a-diet/
  13. I almost hate to post this after trashing Treehuggerdave's beautiful '32. I had a blast doing this to what I think was the homliest truck ever produced. Kit was given to me by my SIL, so on both counts, I had no qualms at all about the build. I had made up a story, as I was posting WIPs on TRaK, about a hayseed building this out on the farm. Surprisingly, to me, it was quite well recieved.
  14. Extremely beautiful build !!! Don't want to detract from your concept or workmanship, and I realize that this is only my personal opinion and tastes, but I think you dropped the ball with those wheels/tires. I was really anticipating large, fat, whitewalls, Like you would see on an old Duesenberg (sp). I hope you will write this negative response off as the rambling of an old curmudgeonly man.
  15. Exquisite !!!!! What a fine gem. Awsome craftmanship !!!
  16. Wow, Juergen. That a clean lookin model. Great color.
  17. This started as a resin cab bought off eBay. I had to scratch a firewall, and the grill is a scratched farm implement looking thing. Most everything else is junkpile salvage.
  18. Looks great! practice will only improve. I've tried this myself, but my problem is that I'm so steeped in traditional flame 'licks', I can't keep them out of my attempts. This Tru Fire technique has to be planned randomness. Mike Lavalle, pioneer of this style, has it down pat. BTW, those are great wheels on right side of that Nova!
  19. What a great concept! That with your superb craftsmanship is mind boggling.
  20. I couldn't remember and the only WIP foto I have doesn't show good enough, So, I went in and yanked it out of the case and it does appear, on close inspection, that the top was seperate.
  21. Sweet piece of work, Dave. Great concept and impeccable workmanship. Nice job
  22. Thanks, everyone. That is a resin aftermarket roots type blower. Part of the result of my first frustrating encounter with resin casters, the now infamous Best Resin.
  23. LOL I have a very old and beat up Paschee and a fairly new Iwata CHB. However the grafix on this model were done with a brush and 1Shot sign enamel.
  24. This was (AMT?) Boyd's Hot Rod series. This was already chopped so I had to make it look like I did it! Prostreeted the rear clip, usual scratching and bashing. Engine from the 60 Starliner doner kit for another project. I thot this was an especially nice engine for a kit. This was an early build, before I accumulated a lot of junk. There's those FAT front tires again. But i'm leaving this one alone!
  25. I'm gettin old, man. I did open the slots.
