Muscle Car Stamps
charlie8575 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If they made those in poster form, I'd buy one/each. In the meantime, I'll probably grab a book. Charlie Larkin -
Another nice job, Al. Charlie Larkin

That's coming out very nicely, Jonny. Those pre-downsizing big Fords are cool cars; I wouldn't mind one myself. Charlie Larkin

If the Pacer can be built stock, I'm in. It would be nice to see Round 2, for the tools that got really botched up, to see if they simply might be willing to invest in fresh molds. Barring that, I think the money should be put into retrofitting the molds. There are a lot of subjects that if multiple build options were renewed, and the parts adjusted to fit well, would sell and produce a handsome return, I think. Charlie Larkin

Great color for that car. Charlie Larkin

Some bigger pictures would be nice, but I like what I'm seeing. Charlie Larkin

Good to see you back, man. That's looking great. I'm planning on doing green/buckskin/buckskin myself. Charlie Larkin

Very nice job with this, Matt. Well-done taillights, nice foil work, everything looks great. As a thought, perhaps you could use some air-drying modeling clay or something like Play-Doh to mold to the shape of the windsheild and then vacuum-form around it? Charlie Larkin

That is looking GOOD. I think I'm going to be picking one of those up. Charlie Larkin

build research

Hmmm....my bookshelves resemble that remark. Charlie Larkin -
Chicago Modelers, how dry is your plastic today?
charlie8575 replied to Joe Handley's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Harry, was that street sign "Des Plaines River Rd.?" It certainly fits! I thought it was very unprofessional of that fireman to laugh at that poor guy's car falling into that sinkhole. Everyone in Chicagoland take care out there. Charlie Larkin -
Replica-stock! Or, more accurately, considering how I build, box-stock. This car may be my Candlelight Cream/green car, if for no other reason, if that blasted yellow plastic bleeds, at least it'll be into yellow. I have an early-2000s issue, too, which I bought when I couldn't find the body to this one, and that'll probably end up being another color. I love these first-generation Rivieras, so I don't mind having two. As to why I'm still looking for a hood....well, I do plan on building them both, so I'll need one anyway in all likelihood. Actually, a lot of my builds tend to be what I think of a box-stock+. I might switch out tires, decals, perhaps do an engine swap, but tend to stay to what comes in the box modeling. Someday, I WILL try to to do something like wiring and plumbing, but I haven't the time to try it and with the budget I'm on, one slip-up can be very costly for me. Charlie Larkin

Nice job on that so far, Nick. Charlie Larkin

It doesn't necessarily work with super-glue, but it has been known to work with plastic cement; sometimes, it helps to have the model slightly damp, and then put it in a Ziplock bag to make sure the parts are contained. Choice #4: rep-stock in black with a red interior. I wonder....did anyone ever make one of those in resin? I've been keeping an eye open for those Revell '62s for years. I heard a long time ago that Dave Burket was plannng on getting the molds for at the least the Chrysler Newport convertible fixed, but I don't know what became of that project. Charlie Larkin

Such a deal, and such a nice job, too! Charlie Larkin

Well, due to some problems at home, I won't be online much for the next few days, but I wanted to take a moment to add this while I could. The painted parts went into the Purple Pond today. Closer inspection to what I thought was simply some flash around the alternator fan on the pulley assembly turned out to be not only flash, but very poor molding, with the fan for all intents and purposes being part of the flash! Enough so that I don't think I can remove the belt assembly without removing the fan. Does anyone know if there's either 1- a complete GM-style alternator, fan and all available aftermarket, or 2- some kind of photo-etch alternator fan? That's a little small for ham-fisted, ham-handed me to scratchbuild. I did my best to capture this on "film", but all trying to take a picture of this thing did was prove my seething hatred for digital cameras. Charlie Larkin

what are you work bench must-haves?

Good tools, a comfortable seat, a radio or recorded music is nice, decent lighting and ROOM. Charlie Larkin -

I will say, though, all the participation in this has made me A Happy Man! Charlie Larkin -
Nice job on that engine, Lee. Charlie Larkin

I've used this on a couple of clear parts and it works well. Charlie Larkin
