Ah...the original post I alluded to elsewhere. Yes, Chron's is a miserable condition, I know a couple of people that have it or one of its related illnesses, and it absolutely blows. Especially when the repair bill comes. Oh wait....the bill almost goes away because I can do 95% of it myself! I've noticed that to in some trucks and cars with crank windows. They even feel poorly made and they usually put the crank in a spot that's inaccessible or uncomfortable to reach. Charlie Larkin

Cream body with orange accents (moulding strip, wheels, perhaps the fenders,) would be very sharp. Model Master Light Ivory is a nice cream color that looks good on 1930s cars. Charlie Larkin

Newton Centre....know it well. I'm in Newtonville regularly for lodge, and use Newton Highlands' Green Line stop when I have to go into Boston. I live out in Marlborough. Ben- nice pick for the color on that car. I can't get into the rolling stock, but I like the rest of it. Charlie Larkin

Chevrolet offered the two-tone paint confined to the roof in (usually) the lighter color. Perhaps you can use that as the starting point, although getting it work around that fastback roof might be a bit of a challenge. The two-tone paint on the one two-tone '67 I've seen had the paint down to the bottom of the roof pillars and used what look like the vinyl top mouldings to serve as the color break. Charlie Larkin

Personally, I think the gigantic wheels, even on newer cars designed around them, look silly and cartoonish. I do agree, though, that sometimes, a nice set of aftermarket wheels can make a really nice model, and as also pointed out, specific car, color, etc. Charlie Larkin

I'll second that statement. Too bad he didn't do a second one to send to a good caster. That would probably become said caster's best-seller or pretty close to it. If I had the patience and (mostly) ability to rework that kit like that, I would. In the interim, I'll simply build what I have and do my best to make it presentable. Charlie Larkin

This is a good sign. I know that IMC, at least from what I was being told, didn't have anything directly to do with Okey, but perhaps they've come to some kind of partnership. I do hope the kits are still being molded here, though, instead of elsewhere. Charlie Larkin

What Craig has said is absolutely correct. Ford's sales blitz was really what killed all the independents, and, believe it or not, almost did in Chrysler, too. The flood of unordered cars that starting showing up at dealers in the early spring of 1954 forced Ford dealers to give massive, loss-inducing discounts just so they'd have enough room for inventory they actually wanted. General Motors, not about to let Chevrolet lose, retaliated likewise. And the blood-letting began. The independent companies, already in a weakened position, simply couldn't keep up with Ford or Chevy (both of which were already less expensive to start with than most independent makes,) and all ended up circling the drain.
