You could also use an old mousepad as a base to strech the aluminum. It's just firm enough to allow the metal to strech.

take the area you want the rust to be at and put on a couple of coats of Tamiya liquid cement. Wait for the area to soften (10 seconds) then dapple the area with toothbrush bristles or press rough sandpaper into it. Let dry. Paint as usuall then dry brush the area with rust colored paint or pastel chalk to your tastes.

I can of course buy it online but what about my LHS, they want support but can’t get the "NEW and HOT" in stock without me having to special ordering/pre pay it from them ??? I can order it myself for that matter.

The Car and truck models might not have all that many parts. But are you aware that card models of ships regularly have over 3,000 pieces ? Yamaha has downloads on their website that you can build some of their most popular bikes like the Shadow and Moto GP bikes. They have several hundred parts. All that need to be cut out, shaped correctly and assembled into 3D pieces. Quite an art form !

I build Card models also ...I'd love to see them.
