Trumpeter 1/12 scale Ford GT40
purplehornies replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I find the pre painted engine interesting...unneeded but interesting. -
did you know this ?
purplehornies replied to patriciaevans99's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So it takes more energy to paint a car than to melt steel to make the engine block....I think not. Most foundries use electro induction or gas to smelt iron. That’s a lot of energy. Show your sources please. -
I love '60s customs. Keep us posted on your progress.

What kind of orders will he need to back to business. I really want a set of his Batman ’66 Mustang long nose decals but may order others to try to help him out. -

1:24th '65-66 Mustang hardtop?
purplehornies replied to Rob Hall's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The only one I know of was made by Missing Link. BUT it was 1/25th and made to fit the AMT kit. Never heard of one to fit the 1/24th Monogram kit. Sorry I coulden't be of more help. -
Beautiful interior. And the strip and repaint really paid off. Well done!

Another idiot eBay buyer
purplehornies replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll tell you why I would buy on EBay for resin products in the future. Ordered a resin trans kit and decals in October 2008 and still haven't see anything but "yeah it will be out to you soon" emails from the Vendor. Although his website says delivery in 4-6 weeks. Paid with Pay Pal… can’t complain to them because the 45 day period is over. ( Kind of convenient for him right). BUT NOW I see the SAME KIT available on his EBAY STORE. And he has the balls to advertise his website on his EBay store that you should buy stuff there (wink, wink). So from now on if there is something I want from him I’ll ONLY buy it from the EBay buyer protected store. That way I have some way to hold him accountable for delivering what I paid for in a reasonable time frame. (remember my delivery expectation is being set by HIM). So you may not like EBay, but look at in my case the very aggravating alternative. -
That would be interesting to see. But we'll have to wait and see if the reports hold any sort of water at all. With the current climate in the US it certainly will be a hard road for any US team to get to the starting grid. Look how many major corporate sponsors have already shrunk their support for existing teams everywhere. Hopefully the F1 "powers that be" will recognize the huge mistake they have made in removing both the US and Canadian G.P's this year.

1:25 scale fanbelts
purplehornies replied to sak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you can find them black baloons work well. You use the portion near the neck, cut it to the width on a glass plate with a sharp razor blade. Then strech it over the assembled pulleys. -
Nice...

McLaren F1 Team Official
purplehornies replied to Len Colombo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe this will be a very interesting year for F1. Everybody has had some time to get the feel of the new set up. BUT they don't really know how they are going to work in traffic or bad weather. So IMHO, this year could yield some surprise winners. LH is a capable driver and needs to settle his emotions in certain situations. Massa is possibly in his last year or two of having a real shot at the WDC. He has become a steady and solid opponent for everyone on the grid. Kimi ...who knows what this year holds for him. I guess it depends which Kimi shows up this year. Fernando, Kubika, and the rest will have thier shot this year too. As far as LH equaling or surpassing MS...I don't think so. MS won titles in a couple of years where Ferrari was the class of the field head and shoulders above the rest. (not knocking his tallent) But I just dont see McLaren being able to place themselvs that far above thier rivals in the next 5-6 years..... Unless Ferrari quits. -
