  1. Donn, the Pearl Ex works really well with the clear . . . there are so many possibilities with this stuff, I might just lose my mind for good! LOL!
  2. Congratulations! A future model builder?
  3. Nice work, it's coming along.
  4. Patience, and learn something on every step. Preparation is key, and the more you mock up and play with the unpainted styrene, the better you familiarize yourself with the model. And, of course, stick around this forum.
  5. David, I am thinning my enamels with cheap lacquer from Ace Hardware . . . that's what Donn Yost recommedts, and it works beautifully.
  6. David, I usually use the thinner that is recommended within a paint system . . . i.e., with HOK I use Medium Temp reducer, etc . . . . The second DVD, Donn really goes all out and shows you all sorts of great tricks. About 4 hours worth (2 DVDS) and my favorite is the sections on kit-bashing (I'm a believer now that the 66 Chevy Nova and the Super Bee are great for robbing parts) and engine and interior detailing.
  7. Love the color. Looking good!
  8. Jim's right . . . it's a buyer's market. Lots of room left! Come on down indeed!
  9. I've already watched twice, and have started a few new builds!
  10. Different and wonderful subject matter. Keep it going.
  11. It should be coming out very soon. I am anxious to try it . . . it should work very well for all sorts of uses.
  12. They are readily available through Donn's website: http://www.oldmansmodels.com/
  13. Very nice work.
  14. Do you have pics from other angles? I'd like to see this one some more.
  15. Mine should be landing soon, it's always a pleasant surprise.
  16. Yes, Mike, it sure is . . . I looked in one of my drawers and found my stash of straight pins and I just smiled.
  17. Donn's approach to his method is just fun to watch. And through him, I got to relive the excitement of what this hobby can truly offer. Just the gleam in the eye and pride in work well done. His model speak for themselves, but he is a natural teacher . . . The only true way of appreciating someone's tips and techniques is to put them to the test, and right now I've got the first model I've painted in enamels in over 30 plus years and I can't wait to get it done so I can share it here. Plus the smell of the stuff really takes me back, way back to when I started . . . it's a great feeling.
  18. That frame belongs in a museum. Wow. Beautiful.
  19. I like it, and that engine is excellent.
  20. Excellent work, and that photograph is very cool.
