  1. Of course, the price on this clear has gone up to almost 18 dollars per can, but it does do a wonderful job. I use this clear for both Auto Air Colors and House of Colors, or Duplicolor paint jobs.
  2. The Bug is from Hasagawa. And yes, this is what I use for a clear. I apply about 3 light coats, and then 3-5 heavy ones . . . and most of the time I don't have to cut or buff at all. What you get is what you see.
  3. Here's a little vid I made hope everyone enjoys. Cheers: http://www.youtube.com/user/damncranky666?feature=mhsn
  4. Here is how it turned out . . .
  5. Yes, Derrick, it's my usual DuPont Acrylic Spot Clear. The price has gone up on these tall cans (usually I can get about 4 bodies cleared with one can) and they are hard to find, but you have to keep trolling the internet.
  6. I thought Lyle had the posting thing down, but folks it could happen to any of us. Besides, as long as he keeps feeding us this kind of mind-blowing eye candy, we have to be patient!
  7. Thanks, Silken! Yeah, it's got some basecoat work on there, including some cheesecloth texture, waterdrop effect, very subtle, lots of flakes, and three different kinds of candies, not to mention some of the Jacquard Pearl EX effects . . . in the sun this thing bursts with all kinds of BLING.
  8. Here are the two together, Waltzing! LOL! PAINT: House of Kolor bases and kandies CLEAR: DuPont Acrylic Spot Clear (rattle can!)
  9. I've had a hankering lately to go with shiny again. I know, I know, it's useless sometimes to pretend I am not a rust junkie, but you guys on this forum are always inspiring me with your shiny builds, in particular those of you doing 70s style paint jobs . . . So, I've got these two puppies in the works. I will let you decided which you think is "Beauty" and which "Beast" If all goes well I would like to finish them before the year is out, starting with the VW bug which is the curbside and doesn't really have too many parts . . . I'm sure you will be kind enough to tell me what you think. Cheers, Doctor Cranky
  10. Good luck to everyone who is going today. Let's see who is going to be first to post pictures of the show!
  11. Beautiful work, Walt. Oh, BTW, where did you get the checkerboard?
  12. Oh man, with the right mods, this would could be turned into a Salt Flats racer. Keep it going!
  13. I keep coming back to study the front end of this chassis!
  14. I agree with you, Walt!
  15. I'm looking through my parts and I should have something to build by the end of this weekend.
  16. Love these examples. I need to build mine.
  17. I finished mine and I have to take some final pics so you guys can see it . . . this kit builds up very well, and I have to say I am a huge fan of these big beauties!
  18. I like this one, the color is just right. Looking at this build makes me want to build one. You did a great job.
  19. It sure did, a nice keeper! Love the color! And the stance.
