Kane, I'll make a little video describing the process later, but it's such a simple technique I did not really think it a big deal. Here's what you do. You take your base color and then sponge it here and there over the darker areas . . . you know places where there might be some wear and tear. Then you take black and brown acrylic paint and you sponge it over the edges, again where you want a bit of rust to show through. You can also do it with a fine brush . . . it's called chipping.

Zombies have "gunked" up blood, which D. Cranky likes . . . it's dark like 40,000 miles oil in a car!

And the acrylic paint chipping is done both on the roller (hairspray technique) and the body (sponge) . . .

All right folks, the painting and preliminary chipping in acrylic is done. Next up is weathering with oils and pigments, washes, and other details, and then this one will be done . . . here are some pictures that show you how everything came down finally to just two components, the body and the chassis . . . notice also that the interior and engine bay, since they are NOT going to be seen, did not receive any paint or details . . . We still have lots to do with the tires, and mud and blood spatters!

Folks, I'm taking the build to the next level which includes sponge chipping with some grey paint, then black and brown . . . the pictures are uploading, so hold tight. Progress report coming right up!

Here's the chassis completed and assembled . . . now the weathering and finishing touches will resume . . . which will included some pigments and lots of earth, sand, and mud spatters . . .

Here's the Zombie Crusher/Roller painted with a few coats of metallics, some inks, and then sealed with gloss varnish, and 3 or four light coats of hairspray . . . all this for the impending painting and weathering:
