  1. Thanks for the wonderful response, folks. Christian I like your list. There are lots of possibilities, and I am aware that from my list I've kept out non USA kit makers like Fujimi, Tamiya, Hasegawa, etc . . . and also I've focused my list on American cars. Those are valid points and weaknesses on my list . . .
  2. Here's Doctor Cranky's Lab-RAT-ory TOP TEN LIST OF CAR KITS. This is a very personal list based on the kits that I have built time and again and enjoyed. I am wondering how on or off the mark my list is compared to yours. In no way am I posting this list to get us arguing or bickering about what belongs on such a list or not. I am just interested in finding out if any of my kits double on your OWN list. This also in no way is meant to put down any kit manufacturers (current or defunct). Again, my intention here is to start a healthy and civil discussion of what such a personal list would look like. DOCTOR CRANKY'S Lab-RAT-ory's TOP TEN LIST OF CAR MODEL KITS: #1 1950 Chevy 3100 Pick Up (AMT) #1 1932 Ford Couple (Revell) #2 1949 Mercury (Revell, chopped tooling) #3 1941 Wyllis Street Rod and/or Gasser (Revell) #4 1948 Chevrolet Aerosedan (Galaxie Limited) #5 62 Chevrolet Impala (Revell) #6 37 Ford Couple Street Rod (Revell) #7 37 Ford Pick Up (Revell) #7 50 Ford PIck Up (Monogram/Revell) #8 55 Chevy Bel Air (Revell) #9 56 Chevy Del Ray (Revell) #10 57 Chevy Bel Air or 210 "Black Widow" (Revell) #10 66 Chevy Nova (AMT) My rationale is ease of build and how well the kit comes together, and the fact that I keep returning to build the same kit time again.
  3. Excellent progress. Keep it going. I think at this pace you will be done with it soon.
  4. More, more, more, please . . . loving the look.
  5. You got a whole bunch of great projects in progress. Keep feeding us the eye candy, please.
  6. Looking forward to more pics.
  7. I always love movie vehicle replicas, and you've chosen a good one. Keep it going.
  8. Recharge and re-inspire by taking the time off to feed your head. Read, watch documentaries, go places, travel, take photographs . . .go to car shows. All these things will help.
  9. That's what it is all about, the "cranky-ing up"!
  10. The amazing progress continues . . . the eye candy keeps rolling off the bench. Great for us.
  11. Yes, indeed. Thanks, chaps.
  12. All items I can easily fix. Thanks for looking over my shoulder.
  13. That's looking good. That blue is a nice color too.
  14. That sounds about right.
  15. Mike, yes, for the most part, but I'm using Donn's Aluminum Plate method for these enamel paint jobs.
  16. Okay, Mike, here it is:
  17. Coming right up, Mike!
  18. Oh, I see . . . well, I just might try it . . . yes sir. Antique silver Pearl EX . . . yes.
  19. Thanks, Donn. Well, I fixed it . . . I am much happier with it now:
  20. Donn, I will use the antique silver on the next one . . . this one has yellow pearl and gold flakes.
  21. Mike, I think you are right. Which is why I went smaller and thinner. Your instincts, you gotta follow them. I will post more pics soon. Stay tuned in.
  22. Does the roll bar look a bit too thick and out of scale? I wanted it to look sturdy enough, like good protection.
  23. Here's a bit of progress for today.
  24. Oooh, I like it. It's going to look very nice . . . looking forward to more.
