Modelhaus Chevy wagon..
impcon replied to ReptileGuy's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
i have their '59 Chevy wagon and it;s very good withthe exception of the inside of the tailgate slanting the wrong way. The inside of the gate slopes towards the back of the car instad of the front. I have to admit that considering how nice the rest of the model is, that one aspect was kind of a surprise and disapointment. But the casting itself is excellent. I also bought their '58 or '59 Chevy big back window pickup cab and it is VERY nice! I really wouldn;t worry about whatyou are going to receive - the quality will be worth the money. -
I have had communication with him over the last few days.. So he's still out there and selling his product.

Coming from a Resin Caster near you...
impcon replied to Elliot949's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Have you considered casting a long wide box ( Fleetside ) for a '60 - 66 Chevy pickup? Some guys do prefer the look of a long box.. Another idea could be a GMC conversion for the '60 - 72 Chevy trucks.. -
50 something .... I dont know...

Do you know if anyone casts the deluxe cab with the corner windows? I really like that generation of GM truck and I;d like to build a version of each - the standard and the deluxe cab. Looks like yours is going good places.. should be interesting to watch. -
First post - 78' Firebird (Completed 12/10/12)
impcon replied to Mike Muncy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks great!!! I really like the looks of the second generation Firebirds and Camaros and my middle son isinto them. I wouldn;t want to own one though as I find them uncomfortable to ride in with the seat so low to the fround. My son had an '81 Trans Am SE with the 403 engine and that thing was quick and fun to drive.. hmmmmmmmmm... maybe on second thought, I wouldn't mind owning a real 1:1. -
I just wanted to acknowledge the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour 71 years ago this morning. Thank you to all who served and are serving and let us never forget the price of freedom. God bless America and her allies and give us the wisdom to preserve our freedoms that so much blood was spilled to give us.

I have bought several models from Frontier, the best by far of which is the '57 Meteor 4 door hardtop kit. he offers some pretty unique stuff and I;d buy from him again. The one thing that did impress me was that emails were always answered and the man really does try to be fair. or at least he has treated me fairly which is more than I can say for a couple of other casters. I received what I bought in good time and I have no complaints. Just my opinion.
-
That is beautiful, to say the least!! Your colours are perfect and it's a nice, clean build. Very well done.. definitely something to be proud of! The '57 was IMHO Ford's best offering ever when it came to styling and tasteful design. I've always wanted a red and white 2 door hardtop but I don;t think that is going to happen. Dollars are too tight and the cars are out of my reach financially. *sighs*

:( No '57 Fords in the mail yesterday.. arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well - anticipation creates expectation and excitement I suppose... I agree with more of the mid to late '50's Fords - a '58 fairlane 500 2 door hardtop and convertible would be nice - as would a nicely detailed new tool '57 Fairlane hardtop and convertible as well as matching '59's. While we are at it, how about a '56 convertible? I really do find myself wondering why convertibles are so shunned by the model industry? Would it be so complicated to produce two kits that shared most components besides the body shell and maybe the bare interior bucket?
-
My two kits with shipping were $19.99 each and the seller combined shipping cutting that cost almost in half from $8.99 each to $10,99 for the two of them which I think is pretty decent. I've bought from him before and he has always been fair to deal with - I wish that mose Ebay sellers were like him. I am expecting mine today as my wife is picking up the mail and she should be home any time. I'm really looking forward to this purchase arrivng!
-
SOrry for the delay in responding - the seller was n2flying27 and apparently he had the models in stock. I should have them this week.
-
I just bought two of these today on Ebay - I should have them in the next week or so and I am REALLY looking forward to getting them. I'll likely buy several more if the kit is as nice as it is supposed to be. One will be a police car and the other, a daily driver..
-
I've bought from Modelhaus - good products without a doubt. I have bought Flintstone stuff - inexpensive and I have no issues with what I have received - especially given the prices. But I personally think that probably the least talked about guy - but a man who produces a product that IMHO equals any of the best listed - and who gives service where customer satisfaction is the most important thing is Tom Coolidge at Promolite Models. I have Tom's '59 Ford Custom 300 and his '60 Nomad wagon and I would challenge anyone else to produce a superior product than his. What I have received is well worth the price in quality and friendly, honest service. Top notch guy with a top notch product without a doubt!

This will make a really cool police car! As for the Ranchero with a stock look - or a wagon - why can't they simply make a separate body mold for each body style without destroying the current one and thus allow themselves more sales and more options down the road? And speaking of that - I wonder why the '57 Fairlane was never released as a convertible by AMT? As a matter of fact, there are not many older convertibles out there at all. How many good kits were forever lost in stock form when the company altered the body such as the '65 Fairlane and oh yes - that Chevy panel that became the "Barnabas (sp?) truck from Dark Shadows?

Resin 69 Javelin SST
impcon replied to Sport Suburban's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I would think that you'll be able to sell these on an ongoing basis if the quality is decent and word gets out that you have it available. How many are you going to cast because if the price is affordable, I'd likely be interested in one for sure - maybe two of them. It sure looks decent enough in the photos. The initial cash outlay is always painful with a project of any kind but if your mold survives a few castings, you should come out money ahead and be able to make a new mold if possible and continue selling. I don;t know squat about casting but I do know that you have a car here that a lot of people like and it is unusual enough. i wish you well with the project and I for one, will be watching your auctions. . -
Promolite 1959 Ford Custom 300 2 Door Sedan
impcon replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
When I made this post, I forgot to mention that the tab that is missing from the rear of the interior bucket was intact when I received the model. I had a slight mishap when I was playing with our dog and the bucket got knocked off of my desk onto the floor. It must have landed just right to snap that tab off and for the life of me, I can;t find the stupid thing. I forgot to mention that in the post when I posted the photos and just wanted to clear that up so no one is thinking that the interior came missing that tab. -
I honestly do not know if he sells on Ebay or not as I bought these directly from him. just Google Bill Bozo decals and you;ll find his site quick enough. I'll personally vouch for both his products and for Bill. He has a lot of police decals from numerous forces and jurisdictions and such on his site. he also does custom work although I do not know what he charges for that. Judging by what I received in my decal kit, he'll certainly be reasonable and do a great job.

I ordered what I thought was a set of proper era RCMP decals for my recently arrived Promolite '59 Ford 2 door post and what a surprise I got when I opened the envelope! The decals arrived on the same day as the '59 Ford and while the little Ford was a very, very sweet surprise, the decal package from Bill was the crowning touch! I'll let the pictures below do the talking but for a mere $16.00 including postage, I'd say that this decal package just about has to be one of the best deals out there. The quality of the decals is much better than I expected and the quantity of material in the envelope simply blew me away! After a run of receiving models that in some cases were not what I expected, the '59 Ford and Bill's decals really made up for the other shortfalls. Included in the package are three pages of pictures of vintage RCMP cars, four sheets of Canadian license plates from every province and covering the fifties and up for dates. There are a few of each generation of RCMP door emblems right up to the current ones used today on the Crown Victoria's and Impala's.There are enough decals to build numerous cars and all for well under $16.00. When I see what decals sell for on Ebay, it really males this even more special and appreciated. Thank you Bill for a quality product, friendly service and unbelievable pricing! Oh - and the packaging was a class act in itself that shows that Bill's interest in the product doesn't stop when he gets paid. Definitely a quality product from a quality man.

I received this resin '59 Ford a couple of weeks ago from Tom at Promolite models and I am nothing short of dazzled by the quality of the model and the service!!This casting just has to be as close to perfect as humanly possible and it equals or surpasses any styrene kit that I have ever had or seen in finish and detail. This will be built as an era correct RCMP police car and one couldn't wish for a nicer starting point than this model. I have never heard anything negative about Promolite's products and now I can see why. The only flash on the model that I can find is in the door vent windows and the model comes already washed clean of the mold release agent so a bath with a good cleaner like Ajax will have the little car ready for paint. The car comes with chromed bumpers, grille and hubcaps - both full disk wheel covers or the small dog dish caps that would have been on a police or salesman's car - or an econo family grocery getter circa the early '60's. The detailing is awesome on the entire kit and the car comes with the upholstery appearing to be very accurate as well as a radio delete plate on the dash. There's a police under dash 2 way radio, a police dog and if you want to build a utility sedan, the rear seat area conversion is with the car. The utility sedans were the traveling salesman;s special car with the rear seat deleted and replaced by a raised floor to give the driver much more room for samples and what ever else he hauled. Tom thought of everything when he put this package together and there are a number of variations possible to build this car as. Simply put, I have never been happier with any model that I have ever bought - ever!! You can buy cheaper resin models but you definitely get your money's worth here despite the cost being higher than say a Hendrix or Flintstone kit. I'd say that Tom's pricing is certainly very reasonable considering the quality and the friendly service. The delivery time was excellent and Tom maintained contact through out the transaction so I always knew where things were at. I'll be buying from him again in the near future and there is at least two more '59 Fords in my future - one built to replicate a 1:1 powder blue and white project that I have here and the other will be a salesman's utility sedan or maybe a fire chief's car. Either way, I'll have no hesitation with dealing with Tom and I highly recommend without hesitation his product and his service. I am usually fairly understanding when I buy a resin kit of a subject that I like and I buy from the only caster who makes that particular marque and the quality is less than I hoped for. For instance, I want a kit of a '59 Chevy 4 door station wagon but it seems that nothing is available. But if I came across one and the quality fell far short of Tom's little Ford that you see in the photos below, I'd just be glad to have what I wanted even if it takes a lot of work to make it presentable. But with Tom Coolidge and Promolite Models, I'd say that you'll be guaranteed a very pleasant surprise when you open the box. He doesn't have a huge variety of models but what he has is definitely interesting and worth ever cent that they cost. You can check out his on line catalog here - http://public.fotki.com/tomcoolidge/

Like most everyone who likes things that just were never available from the main stream model kit companies and things that are bit - shall we say - not exactly muscle cars or convertibles, I find myself looking at resin kits and conversion products. I think that it is safe to say that there are definitely some resin producers who seem to produce a superior product but what do you think of two sub forums - one where casters can show us their newest offerings - And a second where casters and potential buyers can exchange suggestions and ideas and that would not be limited to just suggestions about new kits, bodies or parts but also to CONSTRUCTIVE, REALISTIC OPINIONS AND CRITICISM AND NOT HOSTILE BASHING AND NAME CALLING as I have seen here in the past on occassion. I;d suggest that the rules of conduct and posting ettiquette be STRICTLY monitored and enforced and if a thread gets out of hand, it gets pulled. There are ways of politely suggesting improvements and changes which would result in a better and more accurate product and we are capable of acting and conducting ourselves like adults and being respectful. The reason that I suggest this is because it may be easier and quicker to search through the posts for reviews of a caster's product(s) and perhaps some sort of rating system set up based on quality, bang for your buck, delivery time and quality verses price. Now I realize that we all have different levels of expectation when it comes to what is good and what is not so good and what is excellent! This may not be such a good idea to the moderators or to somemembers here but it's just an idea that I thought t hat I would throw out there and if it gets squashed, well, at least I spoke my mind. I personally think that as long as it is properly and strictly monitored, it could be very helpful to potential and new buyers and as for the "Caster's Showcase", it would keep us abreast of what's available and what is being discontinued. Again, I know that not all the casters browse the forums but I am sure that a lot of them lurk and just read to glean inspiration and ideas. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I can;t help but wonder if anything may come of this idea?

1967 Fairlane Dash or Conversion Kit?
impcon replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
With all due respect, I just bought a '67 fairlane interior tub and dash off Ebay and the dash boards are most definitely different. As i said, I have owned and worked on a few '66 and '67's and the top of the dash on a '66 is pretty much flat where as the '67 is raised much higher on the '67. There are pieces of dash trim also that are specific to each year regardless of the car being a fairlane 500 or an XL or a GT. The base Fairlane doesn;t have the plastic woodgrained piece of trim running along the borrom edge of the dash that the other more expensive models have but they are definitely different between the years. The '67 dash that I just received, seems to be almost a copy of the '66 GT dash but t here are subtle differences that are accurate in depicting a '67 only dash board. -
Hey Steve, There's enough guys into building one tons and SUper Duty trucks that one would think that sooner or later some caster would see the opportunity. There's none that I am aware of that are on the market that are the correct style. If you find anything, please post the source for others like us. Thanks.

I have a few Flintstone resin bodies that I have bought off of Ebay and they're pretty darned nice. His '60 Chevy sedan delivery and the '60 Impala wagon are not perfectly accurate but the quality is still good as far as appearance and outright quality goes. The sadan delivery has El Camino doors that whoever made the master never bothered to correct and the back end of the Nomad needs some imagination. I'm going to order a '60 Nomad from Tom Coolidge at Promolite given that he has fixed the booboo's and his a clone of the original Craftsman Nomad. I may try one of Jimmy's complete kits - maybe the '58 Chevy sedan delivery. I am never worried when I buy one of his products and i already have a sedan delivery body of his but I want one with the proper interior rather than one that I have to make from scratch. Just my opinion.

I received a package from Tom Coolidge at Promolite Resins a few days ago and have been meaning to post about the products. I had enquired awhile back based on something that i read somewhere and I emailed Tom and asked if he had a cast roof for a '59/60 2 door sedan ( post ). I bought a resin 2 door sedan awhile ago off of Evay but it is simply a hardtop with a post but there is just too much wrong as far as accuracy goes for me to be happy with it. That casting was pretty clean - no complaints there at all - but the car looks kind of off with the lower Impala coupe roofline and the extra long rear deck lid that was unique to the Impala Sport Coupe ( 2 door hardtop). The rear window on the hardtop is also larger than on a sedan and I really wanted to build several proper looking and fairly accurate 2 door sedans - a Utility Sedan that was used by salesmen and had no rear seat - an RCMP police cruiser circa 1958-60 - and a plain 2 door post family sedan. What i had received just was n ot acceptable for what I wanted and I am not that good at fabricating and drilling and blasting. So, I contacted Tom who is really a fantastic guy with a wonderful personality and he cast three roofs and the needed proper glass and man, these things are to die for! I just received a resin '57 Ford Squire wagon and again, the body was excellent but the interior tub is a toughy with some issues that I am not very pleased with, but I can try to do something to straighten the warped bucket or as the seller suggested when I contacted him, "just black the windows out and make it a curbside" - something that I will try avoid doing at all costs. I plan to order several kits in the very near future from Tom and i have absolutely NO hesitation in doing so, based on the cleanliness and beauty of what he sent me. He is very professional, coureous and he loves old cars - my kind of guy! I'd recommend his products to anyone and I am pretty sure that anyone who has dealt with him will support my views. If you read this post Tom, thank you and you'll definitely be sending a few more packages to my address in the coming weeks and months. Itls good to find someone who you just KNOW is going to put a smile on your face when you open what they send you.

1967 Fairlane Dash or Conversion Kit?
impcon replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
With all due respect, the dash boards on the '66 and '67 Fairlanes are not the same at all. yes, they are similiar but different enough to any knowing eye..' Here's a '66 dash - http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/photogallery3/1966-ford-fairlane-gta/1966-ford-fairlane-gta-dash.jpg And here's a '67 dash - http://www.flickr.com/photos/myoldpostcards/6738572799/ The door panels are also different as is the seat upholstery although the differences are slight. I have owned a '66 GTA hardtop and several '67's and trust me, they are different.
