Most folks don't pile their parts cars but who knows. Judging by the way that they are piled, I'd have to say that they are in a scrap or salvage yard somewhere where thy have little or no value other than tonnage. I am not into imports at all but for those who look at this and feel remorse, I can identify - believe me. Far too many good parts cars have been destroyed over the last several years for the sake of the almighty dollar.

Congratulations to you and your bride to be! My sweetheart and I are still new to this - we've only been togethher for 34 years.

Hi Jean, As usual, you work is incredible!! You are a very talented and gifted person and thank you for sharing your work. This station wagon is incredible!
-
You do nice work! They look great and your colours are well chosen!

VERY nice!!! i have a few of these in both built and unbuilt form that I want to get around to doing something with. A friend of mine bought the Trophy Series version and built it exactly as it was on the box side as a Ford dealership tow truck. he had the body gray and painted the fenders Testors Sapphire Blue - I always loved that little model and will duplicate it one day. You did wonders for the little truck and I wonder what the original builder would think and say if he saw it? No doubt, he would be very pleased and happy with your improvements and upgrades. It always warms my heart to see an old model saved and given new life just as I truly enjoy seeing 1;1 vehicles rebuilt or restored. I think that your saving the original paint is a great idea and it sure does look sweet! Nice work!

This is a fantastic thread and the quality and level of workmanship is awe inspiring! Socalculture - would you be so kind as to post all the photos of that fuell injected car or email them to me please? The '59 Chevrolet is to me, the ultimate as far as cars do and I save any good pictures that I can find of them for my own pleasure and to salivate and drool over in my private moments. I am blessed to own a few of them in 1;1 but no automobile quickens my pulse as does a '59 Chevy or El Camino. The fuelie car that you posted the photos of is even in my favorite colour - Crown Sapphire.. and it probably has a white roof and deck lid? Am I right?

An abitious project!! Thank you for sharing how you are making this conversion and I am sure that it will give others some ideas as to how to section and convert a model into something that they want. I am especislly interested at this point as to how you will convert the dash to right hand drive.. can you please share that process in detail? Thanks.. and nice work! Don;t give up on this one and again, thank you for sharing.

I'm not the world's greatest fan of the tri five Chevy's although I do like them. I guess that there have been so many releases over the years that I am kind of tired of looking at them and even in real life, I would not go out of my way to rush right out and buy one. maybe it's because my personal tastes tend to lean more towards stuff that is less trendy but I will probably buy one of these lits when ( if ) they are released. Revell has come a long ways IMHO from the old multi piece body models and kits where things just do not go together well at all such as the '53 ( 54? ) Chevy two doors and sedan deliveries. They really are setting the standard by which model kits are judged these days and I hope that they continue to keep bringing out more unique stuff. The hobby needs some diversification and fresh input to survive.

So does this mean no further reissues of a Revell '57 2 door post? Or will they conjure up a new mold for the convertible body?

As the late, great Jackie Gleason used to say, "How sweet it is!!" And that is one sweet build if ever I saw one! It is indeed nice to see something other than a performance oriented car and yours is definitely one of the best! Nice, realistic colour combination and the bench seat and slant six just make the model stand out from the rest. I like performance cars but I really like to see something that could have been owned and driven by any family. I;d give this one an easy AAAA++++!

I can't recall ever seeing a real wagon like that, but it certainly is pretty!! Weren't those the days though? A time when life was a whole lot more simple, less stressful, cars had human engineered styling and grace and the music was better. I can almost hear Danny and The Juniors singing "At The Hop". or maybe Perry Como singing "Catch a falling Star" as mom drives to the supermarket for groceries with the kids playing in the back seat when I look at your photos. Wagons are really cool and I remember family vacations with my parents in our '59 Chevy Brookwood with my brother and I playing, sleeping or just watching the world go by from the rear cargo area. My folks would fold the back seat down and put a mattress in so us kids could enjoy the trip. And enjoy we did! But back to your Desoto. Nice build and the colours are sweet!!!! I may have to order me one of those..

I'm not much into monster trucks and such, but it you'll have the only one on the block for sure. Having said that, I really do like the police car! That's a nice build!
-
This is looking REALLY nice!! I really like the wheels and tires and they'lllook great on the car. have you considered two toning the body by adding a white roof and rear deck lid and upper rear side panels? Personally, I think that would make the lower level two door sedan look pretty classy. Either way, it is looking like it's going to be a nice build. I sure do hope that the powers that be decide to issue a wagon and Ranchero based on this kit. A sedan delivery would also be pretty cool!!! Come to think of it, so would a four door sedan.. what an awesome taxi!

They are very pretty in their own way and one of my favorite aircaft. Thanks for posting..

What I want isn't available, so I'll settle for what I a;ready have. What I'd REALLY like is a '59 Chevy 4 door staion wagon and a '68 Mercury Parklane four door ht - like Steve McGarrett's car ( http://www.greene-shipman.org/68MercuryPLFPS.jpg )on the original Hawaii Five-0. Can't see either one ever becomeing a reality, so I am thankful for what I already have.

Try doing that with your wife and someone overhears you ask her as you are picking out colours for a two tone paint job, "What do you think of this colour" Do you think that it will clash?" Older women scowl - younger ones smirk.. The problem is no one would believe me if I tried to explain... -
model express
impcon replied to lonebear43's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I understand that someone will be taking over Dennis' business after year end. I;d imagine there may be a bit of lag time while the new person gets set up, and hopefully, the new owner will continue to provide the fair prices and top notch service that Model Express is so well known for. There is a local hobby shop that I can give you the contact info for and his prices seem pretty reasonable and he does mail order. PM me if you want the information. Just too clarify, I am not affiliated with that shop in any way other than as a customer and a fellow model nut just trying to help. -
I opened one of mine last night ( I just received two of them ) and everything looks fine. It's a VERY nice kit!!!

Coming soon....Model King 1957 Police car kit!
impcon replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's hope thatthese sell like hotcakes so that the manufacturers will all get the idea that modellers want more than muscle cars! The box art is one of the best examples that I have ever seen and I'll be scooping some of these kits! One for sure will be a vintage RCMP cruiser.. . What extra police specific parts are included that are not with the Custom kit? This kit is MOST welcome!!!.Now, how about a wagon and a Ranchero.. and maybe a '57 Fairlane 500 convertible? -
My tastes lean more towards the more common stuff as I have no real love or feelings for exotics or imports - period. I love American iron, so my wishes would be in this order: 1957 Fairlane 2 door HT - MUST be red and white with matching interior 1967 Fairlane 500 - 2 door HT - just a Fairlane 500 w/bench seat and small block and AT 1963 Pontiac Parisienne 2 door HT in powder blue w/blue interior - small block, AT with full power 1959 Pontiac Parisienne 2 dr HT 1967 Cougar 6.5 Litre I am blessed to either have every other car that I have ever really wanted including my first choices in order - 1959 Impala convertible, '59 El Camino, 1959 Impala sport coupe, 1959 Chevy station wagon and 1959 Ford 2 dr HT Club Victoria with the wrap around rear glass ( not too crazy about the more common galaxie with it's Thunderbird roofline ).

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
impcon replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Impcon is my wife's idea as an abbreviation for Impala convertible and as my avatar is a '59 Chevy wagon, you can imagine what my favorite Impala convertible is. I was asked once by a friend what would be the ultimate car if I could pick one and it was at that moment that I realized how blessed I am to actually own my all time favorite car - a virtually rust free, Snowcrest White with red interior, 348 powered '59 Impala convertible. The car was given to me by my parents in 1972 as a birthday present and I still and always will own it until I leave this world. My love of the '59 goes back to my dad's Snowcrest White '59 Brookwood four door wagon that he bought brand new and I have a real 1:1 that I plan one day on redoing to resemble Dad's. It's all about dreams, isn't it? Some come true and some do not nut if we quit dreaming, then it's all over. Just my two cents worth. -
I used to love building models
impcon replied to dettrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At age 61 ( heading for 62 just as hard as I can go! ) and after suffering a mild stroke and melt down at the same time, I find that the age related things ( eyesight, etc> ) has slowed me to a dead crawl. I have projects sitting here in front of me and I am working on them, but I have yet to complete one. Still, I collect and often buy nice built ups on Ebay just because I love automobiles and I have always loved the hobby - both in styrene and real 1:1, Yeah, age is a bugger. But it's once around the park and then it's all over here on this old planet, so I try to make the best of it. Compared with what many of you guys are going through, I'm still pretty fortunate and in good shape. I just want to say thank you to those who hang in there and encourage others and share their wisdom and experience even if they are having challenges building. Thank you..
