  1. Thanks for the responses guys - I went ahead and ordered the '67 Fairlane tail light assemblies and grille and front bumper to see how they fit against the AMT '66 Fairlane model. I would have ordered the hood as well but the Modelhaus online catalog is pretty sparse when it comes to details and I do not know if it is a flat Fairlane hood or is it for the GT/GTA? I should have the parts in a few weeks and I am eager to see if they will fit and be workable or not - especially the taillights. I canmodify a dash boards I think.. so then there's just the issue of the side trim.. or maybe I'll just have to settle for a 67 GT..
  2. VERY pretty and nicely done!!! The colour is nice and goes well with the white stripe and interior.. AAAAA+!!!
  3. From my household to yours, have a Merry Christmas and a healthy, safe and prosperous New year. I hope that everyone has a better 2011 then what 2010 was.
  4. Hey Ed, You can give me that little white stepside for Christmas if you want to and I'll even come and help you shovel that white stuff You have excellent taste in trucks!! Merry Chrisatmas
  5. Evan as a Canadian, I find that poem to be VERY touching.. Likewise - thank you to ALL who serve and who have served in any capacity to protect our way of life and our freedoms. Merry Christmas to all service people.. I wish you a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year and again - thank you for doing what you do...
  6. And to and yours Dano - and to everyone else on the boards, have a safe and Merry Christmas and the best to all in the coming new Year! May everyone who is unemployed find work and may all who are alone find a special someone. Merry Christmas to all..
  7. Those photos bring back memories.. We had a bunch of photos that we took when we were on her - one of my wife standing in front of the forward turret.. That ship is truly a thing of beauty, the likes of which we will never see again in this overly high tech world. She has a "don't screw with me" look and attitude and she makes a better friend than an enemy. They ougt to fire her upo again, sail her back over to the Middle East and just cut her loose and show 'em good ol' American firepower! She sure straightened that wingnut Ghadaffi ( or is it GaDaffy? )out in a hurry, didn't she? Like that old song says, "She's got what it takes!".
  8. Looks good and it warms my heart to see another one saved.. nice work!
  9. Nine months??? Whatsa matter? Why so long?? Seriously, That is the ultimate build and he sure a cutie!! There's just something about little children that always puts a smile on my face regardless of how bad my day is going. My wife and I are empty nesters now and our lives have a lot less stress these days but I sure do love our boys. You are in the good years right now with the little guy - enjoy every second because you'll wake up tomorrow morning and he'll be 15 and think that he knows more than you do. That's when the realy fun begins..*sighs* Congratulations and I wish you and yours the best.
  10. My wife and I were at our local Wal Mart last night and I couldn't believ how few people were in the store.. Usually you have to wait in long line ups at the cash register - last evening, I had one woman ahead of me in my line and the other tills that were open ( not all of them by any means ) were the same - one or two people in each line. Even Canadian Tire was quiet.. no waiting to pay for your stuff... We were in several other stores as well - smaller ones - and also, considering that Christmas is just around the corner - things sure were quiet. This is worrisome.. things must be worse than even I thought they are if last night is any indication as to how people are spending their money this Christmas. We are really blessed so far because our life style has not changed although I am thinking twice these days before spending money.
  11. Looks like a nice build - well done. Her ending and that of HMS Repulse at the same time is a sad and tragic story... Having been on the USS Missouri a number of years ago when she was berthed at Bremerton, WA., I can attest to the sheer size of such a ship. To describe it to someone who has never seen one is pretty much impossible because it's hard to imagine just how huge those things are. If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take you to complete the build? It looks like a labour of love...
  12. Aw c'mon guys.. someone must have considered doing this conversion before.. I highly doubt that it is a totally original idea... any help will be appreciated...

Looks good! A nice, clean build and very nicely done even if I am not a race/drag car fan. Well done! I agree that it is too bad that this can not be built stock. I have the Flintstone '60 sedan delivery and it needs major surgery. While the actual quality of the body is good, it's really pretty inaccurate. Not sure who did the master for that but they should have spent a bit more time on it IMHO and finished off the rear quarters and tail gate properly and also the roof height as this seems to have the lower hardtop roof. *sighs* Oh well.... it's better than nothing I guess.
  14. Ian, I am with you on that one!!! It almost seems to me that porices have been on the rise for the old stuff and sellers are starting their auctions higher than a year ago. One seller that I have bought from used to offer built up project and parts cars for $2.00 - now he's at $5.00 and up for the same items. I know - I know - the old stuff is becoming harder to find but I see people paying what I think to be crazy prices for some of this stuff. There's a few kits that I want to buy but I am NOT paying $75.00 to infinity for a built up or even an unbuilt one of what I want. By the time that you buy an old built up to restore for say - $75.00 - and then replate opr replace the chrome, buy the paint and add what ever you want to add - it gets pretty pricey. It's sort of going the way of the real 1:1 stuff - just getting stupid. Oh well - I guess that if you want to play - then you gotta pay. You guys that find these five dollar boxes full of treaures make me green...*sighs* Maybe I'm just cheap.. Oh well - good for you - I am glad that someone is getting a good deal!
  15. Oh, I think that there is more than three or four good parts on that car yet. I sold old car parts on Ebay for 10 years and I'll tell you this much - it is amazing how much stuff I could sell off of a rig that looked like it had absolutely squat to offer. I did well on the trinkets - switches, knobs, guages, wiring harness's, etc and this car would still have lots to offer as a parts car if you were wanting to take the time to really take it apart. I guess that it depends on what you would want off of the car but it would part out really well on Ebay. Mind you, the glory days are over as far as selling used parts go unless you have the right stuff. Fifteen years ago when Ebay was just Evay - before that cursed Ebay Motors was spawned, we would sell 90% of our listed items the first time they were offered and most of those items had multiple bids. When I quit selling a few years ago because of health issues, we were lucky to sell 30% of what we had listed and seldom did we have more than one bid on each item. They've really screwed the whole thing up now with new rules and requirements and Ebay has been quite succesful at driving most of the little guys like myself away. I just use the site for buying now. Realistically, I'd say that the car is worth no more than several hundred dollars as it sits and it is just a parts car. Who owned it is irrelevant - it's deteriorated past the point of being worth even trying to save. At least that is my opinion.
  16. Hey Kevin, What about a '59 Chevy ambulance? Years ago, I tried to figure how to combine a Ghostbusters ambulance with an El Camino but it was beyong my abilities and talents. It was not the length of the car that was the problem, it was the width of the roof. I am not sure if the Ghostbusters Caddy was out of proportion or what but the roof was much too wide to fit onto the El Camino body. I thought about cutting the roof to narrow it but then there was the issues with the windshield now being too wide. *sighs* It was a dream that dies a natural death for me... maybe one day I'll give it a whirl but with the prices of the Ghostbuster ambulances these days... it could be an expensive screw up if it didn't work.
  17. Please don't get me wrong guys - I really do appreciate the service and all, but for those of us who are not so computer literate, these changes can be inconvenient and they really do not seem to make things any easier for us. I guess that I just aint big on change - the system worked fine before - why mess with it? Now to get the link to post pictures here for instance, you have to click on the photo to enlarge it and then the link is copyable from the box on the right side of the screen. So it's now two extra steps that were not there before.. I mean, two extra steps isn't the end of the world but to my way of thinking, they screwed sopmething up that worked just fine the way that it was. I guess the geeks and code writers have to justify their existance on the planet somehow... *sighs* Well no matter what - they should have left well enough alone. AT least that's my opinion.....
  18. I may be wrong here but I have a feeling that the resin casters are really missing the boat on the Ranchero all right! The '67 is without a doubt, the prettiest Ranchero ever produced with the '57 running a close second. I know that it's all about someone making a good master from which to make the mold but there are people out there who have the talent. I know that I sure don't but adding the side trim and a non GT hood to a hardtop body shouldn't be too difficult - there again, for someone with the talent - which I don't have. *sighs* Or how about a '67 wagon - especially a Squire with the wood grain? Jeepers... makes me salivate just thinking about it...
  19. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Just went to upload some pictures to Photobucket and yup! The geeks have been at it and took what was a nice, functional, easy to use, simple format and made it complictated. It worked - why is it that when something works, some one takes it upon themselves to complicate it and make it complex with bells and whistles that most simple folk never will use in a hundred years?? Why? Why? There must be a reason why??? A video on the page.. what's that all about? Who needs it? Just something else to have take up bandwidth... Oh, I'll calm down and get used to this "new way of doing things" but I sure am getting tired of everything being complicated and this new "information age" and it's "conveniences". It seems these days that if something is simple, many people can't grasp it but if it's complicated.. then it's "oh yeah! That's cool!!" You guys ever get the feeling that the world has passed the older generation by and left us in the dust?
  20. With the prices that an original styrene kit brings, it makes purchasing one just a little bit painful. I know that there is at least one resin kit out there but what about buying the tail lights, grille and bumpers from Modelhaus and converting a '66 into a '67? I know that the dash board still wont be right and the interior side panels will be the wrong year but to most uneducated eyes, it will at least appear to be a '67. I have nothing against muscle cars but it sure would be sweet if this kit had been offered as a Fairlane 500 with the side trim rather than the bland ho hum GT or GTA version which although I love '67 Fairlanes, I am not the biggest fan of. I much prefer the Fairlane 500 with it's decorative side trim and ornamentation. So, does anyone have any ideas or experience in this subject?? And while we are at it, wouldn't it be nice of a resin convertible was available?
  21. I was going to see what is available on Ebay for '67 Fairlane models and out of curiousity, I thought that I would check the real 1:1 cars and see what is on at the moment. This is most likely a case where someone watched the Barrett Jackson auctions and their fantasy prices and said to themselves, "Hey, I got me one of them just like that out back!! Wow! Didja see how much that sold fer? Man, mine's gotta be worth some serious coin! I'm gonna put it on Ebay and retire!!" What they fail;ed to note in their drug induced stupor was that the car that sold on the auction had two doors fewer than theirs does, it had a factory big block in it and it was actually running. Oh, ,and it wasn't sunk to the floors in rotted leaves and compost.. and the hood didn't look like an A frame dwelling for forest creatures.. No doubt, that was a really pretty car - appears to have been Frost Turquoise -0 my favorite colour on those Fairlanes.. but it would be pretty hard to find any parts - on it. Sorry for the rant but this is one of those auctions that really causes me to shake my head in disbelief.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Baby-Blue-Ford-Fairlane-500-/260707387222?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cb35f0756
  22. Poor old trucks... they gave their all and now nobody wants them. It tugs at my heart to see old vehicles just abandoned and left to quietly rot away. I often wonder what stories they could tell if they could talk... May they RIP.
  23. Sure is pretty!!!!!!!!! Those star ships are gorgeous creations.. you did a nice job on yours.
  24. WOW! Sharp car!!! My second cousin had a real 1:1 Eliminator - it was yellow and that thing sude did go! It was stolen out of his garage one night and the morons who stole it totalled it after taking it for a joy ride and losing control of it. I have always liked these cars and you don't see many of them around at all. Nice build!!
  25. Congratulations on your builds! Your weathering is very tasteful and not at all over done giving the appearance that the cars are from a hot, dry climate like Arizona. I really like the '40 sedan delivery.. the decals are neat and really give the car a realistic look. I am assuming that you made the decals yourself? I really like the Ford dealership parts runner theme.. it's unique and just looks so right on there! You do nice work..
