The fix should be the same as the one for this forum. -
Mercury Capri SVT (A Mustang of a different sort)
Abell82 replied to Abell82's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm suddenly having problems posting pics to the forum. But here is a quick up date of where I am at on this one. I have redesigned the upper end of the engine. and got most of it to fit. Now I just need to detail it and get it all painted and put together. -
Trying to post pictures on this forum grrrrrrr!!!

It looks like a Chrysler Mirada.

Nice work. It looks awesome.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. -
Nice work. Looking forward to seeing more... but be careful, soon you may need a blue oval on your other ankle.

I've only intentionally destroyed one model, a 1965 Chevelle wagon. It died a good death though.. At least so I am made to believe... You see I placed 3 rocket engines in the rear, of said plastic receptacle set it in the street, and lit the fuses. This was an AMT/MPC model, so it had 2 metal axles, and seemed to roll fairly well. To help aid in its rolling abilities, the wheels from an IMSA Corvette or possibly Firebird replaced the kit wheels. These where much wider, and should have helped in the weight and rolling areas. Unfortunately, due to a miscalculation on my part the engines didn't ignite at the same time. The little plastic car veered left, as the first engine ignited, (the engine that was furthest to the passenger side.) it then shot, side ways into the middle of the street, where it hit a small rock. A pebble really. It flipped over onto the roof after colliding with the pebble. Then the other engine ignited. This second engine caused the Chevelle to spin around on the roof for a few seconds, until the third and final engine ignited. When the third engine burst to life, it stopped spinning, and the force from the three engines was enough to push the flaming pile of styrene across the street (because by this time the first rocket engine had set the tailgate, and rear bumper aflame, it was on it's roof after all! ) and slowly very slowly, almost agonizingly slowly, to the curb, on the opposite side of the street. Depositing little flaming piles of fiery goo as it traveled to its final destination. Where the three engines were allowed to burn in their entirety. The acrid black smoke of melting styrene and eerie orange/yellow glow from the flames consuming the plastic body piercing the darkness of the evening... until...What's that?! The scream of a woman! I can't repeat what was heard but possibly there was some shouting probably there may have been even an obscenity and a name...( my name! ) It was my mother and she was not just angry but rather LIVID! Possibly a threat about me getting my behind inside that house RIGHT NOW AND SHE MEANT RIGHT NOW!! Something about knowing better, and waiting until a father got home. Then there was a sting on the seat of my pants, then another. Then I was ushered inside the house very quickly. I didn't get to see the final moments of that ill fated Chevelle, but I was made to clean up the hard plastic blob the next morning. True story.

Your asking what paint scheme to paint it, but I have no idea what color (ie: shade) metallic red your using. But here are a few ideas...

Mercury Capri SVT (A Mustang of a different sort)

Needs a little touch up but it's coming along... hmmm.. evidently knocked the rear spoiler side ways for these pictures..oops! -
These are practically made of unobtainium. I tried for several months to lay my hands on one of these. When I finally succeeded in getting one, it was one that needed repairs. They are not exceptionally accurate, But they are nice to have. And I would LOVE to find another.

Mercury Capri SVT (A Mustang of a different sort)
Abell82 replied to Abell82's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks everyone. I am kind of leaning toward the 93 Cobra wheels, as they took the longest to modify. I added a center "Cat" to make them reminiscent of the old ten hole Capri wheels. However I think I like the later Cobra wheels better. Anyway, here are some better pictures... Both take the same tire, the stock one, so the stance will be the same for either wheel. It's only taped together in these pictures, and it kept falling apart so it is not sitting quite right, but the suspension has been adjusted, to make it sit a little lower. -

G.W.roofline? Well first of all it is a beautiful casting. The conversion work is beautiful and flawless. The only problem is, that the casting is small. much smaller then I anticipated. It is a shame, as it almost obscures how pronounced the revisions are to the original body. I'll let you decide. ... The caster even provides a resin stock hood at NO extra cost. It too is small, and here it is on a stock body, and a resin body... (also with a Mad Resin 79 since it is also 1/25th). In any event it is a beautiful casting, and we are lucky to have it. I just wish, that it portrayed the modifications more boldly as they are quite dramatic, if you know what you are looking for. -
I think jimmy flinstone makes one also?
-
Now you have. By the way, your better off making your own LX if you have the skills. All you need is an SVO and a Cobra or GT depending on scale.

Been awhile since there was anything interesting to post. Since, I am NOT at all impressed with the New Revell LX Body, I have refrained from purchasing the various hoods made for the new body. Until now. I bought a few of the new LX kits when they first came out. So I decided to shell out some more money for the LX body meant to correct the Revell coupes short comings. These are cast by Gregg Wann a member here. I was both pleased and dismayed at what arrived. Here are a few pics... -
Actually if you look in the resin LX thread you'll see that the caster DOES in fact cast a resin LX wing. Sort of. It's about as accurate as the LX front bumper. But if you have an 87 GT from AMT and a Revell LX coupe you can make your own. Also Reliable Resin made or makes one.
