  1. Huh? ERR ... What??? Are you saying that for every kit produced 10's of thousands of people call and try to get free parts ??? The model companies couldn't stay in business! Guess that explains the sudden jump in kit prices... thanks guys! No seriously though, Art I think you misunderstood.
  2. On the flip side.... How much money do model companies SAVE because of resin casters? Think about it. ALL those parts erroneously reported "missing" or "short shot" instead being resin cast and sold / traded. Probably saves the model companies BIG bucks.
  3. For those interested, I dug out an old hood I had made, LONG ago... And then I made a resin mold and cast it... It was made to look like an AF/X /// Reliable Resin hood. It is not the same, however. NIETHER is it another repop. Unlike the others, my hood has hinges, to keep them in place. (How long the resin hinges last is another story!)
  4. I was looking on feepay to see what your talking about....I can't/ didn't /don't.... it's not there. So my first question... is/or ..was it a recast or someone selling a Missing Link part they didn't need? Next would "marking" a resin piece be good or bad?? If the part is recast, the mark is still there, There would be arguments ...this piece is defective, it has your mark..... Not my product.... has your mark.... Besides people complain in droves about the Manufacturers marks from AMT and Revell . Imagine how HUGE their panties would bunch when resin casters began "marking" their products.
  5. It was bought on ebay. teddyb.... something. a quick search and you should find it. By the way, some of you may be thinking it's bad photos which make the hood appear wider at the front, and more narrow in the rear... they aren't, it is.
  6. While taking a mini vacation the other day I pulled this body out, and took it out in the yard to see if I could indeed make it look better. I scrapped the front bumper it was too far gone to bother with. I instead utilized a low quality version of one of my own. While sanding the hood down to make it work, I noticed something interesting about the body.... It changed colors. I got the hood to fit, but it was misshapen in one corner, or perhaps I just got too over zealous with my sanding... in any event it needed a repair.... Doing all this got me to thinking about something. A hood. I had made one, a few years back. I designed it to resemble the AF/X version. Mine however had the "factory" hinges. I still had it, and decided to try casting it. Here is my hood, it is the tan one... (*edit 03/26/13 replacing missing pictures)
  7. For the record this is clearly just a recast of the Reliable Resin Mustang LX. The caster appears to be recasting Reliable resin and AF/X?? bodies? and possibly others. Actually, Kris, If I were you I'd be pretty concerned, as this guy seems to LOVE trying to "recast" other peoples product. Who knows, whom or what may be next? You know what they say about a fool and his money... (LOL!) Actually I am confident I can make it look halfway decent when the time comes.
  8. So you wouldn't want to trade? I usually try to get 2 or 3 from a caster before I post a review. For this caster, I think I'll stick to just one.
  9. The Hood... Left side... Not so bad, a little thick but workable. The right side... On the body... Whoo Buddy!! The front bumper:... I can only assume the liquid looking stuff is from the caster trying to fill a void with new resin, that was not mixed properly, or atleast didnot set up correctly. possibly due to the caster pouring it on top of the mold release? *Edit: adding pics back in.
  10. The interior : It was so thin in one spot, that I broke a piece out, trying to wash off all the mold release... Again notice the door panels...
  11. I like that. Disclaimer: For those following along please don't misunderstand, I knew these were bad, I was just curious to see how bad, and though others might be as well. Anyhow for those that might be interested. I took the time to wash off the Vaseline? (serious mold release issue) and cut the resin into shape. So 4.5 hours later here is what I am left with. The window "plugs"... These things are about a 1/4 inch thich in some places. They are actually thicker, in the wide places, then the body should be. The Body... Even if you are an expert, with resin you should still think twice on this one. Everything is there, and then some. It will require many more hours of prep before this body is buildable.
  12. I did get a free gift however... A hood which has nothing to do with my purchase, but is some what better then the stuff I did order???
  13. The front bumper: The Hood: Not too bad, until you see how thick one side is... This is actually a double casting, where the resin set up before the mold was completely closed, OR the caster tried to "recast" a flawed part.
  14. The interior: Notice how rough the door panels are, as well as how much of the console arm rest mount is missing.... With a bright light behind it...
  15. I was cruising ebay a few weeks ago, and stumbled on an auction, for a Reliable Resin Mustang LX. Only it wasn't being sold as such, and the casting looked HORRIBLE. They have been popping up on a regular basis since that first one, so I decided to get one and see what they were like. So I bid on one. But I was out bid. However, the next day I got a second chance offer. Just as another one was placed on Ebay.So I waited, and I bid on the new auction even lower then the first. Big surprise I lost the second auction as well. BUT again I got a second chance offer. So I bit. Let's see just how bad one of these castings is I thought. So here are the pics of the "repops" which this seller is casting. And whom by the way gives NO credit to the original caster for... So anyway... Here is the body:
  16. The 1990 7- up Mustangs were LX's. Though they were convertibles, and limited run cars ... they had body color trim. Exceptions to every rule?
  17. Updates?
  18. Even if you had, it would still be pure speculation that the 2 kits would be the same size.
  19. Incorrect.1984 1/2's. The gt 350's ALL had white body moldings. Molded in white. Not just painted.
  20. Nice job.
  21. Work progresses painfully slow on this one, but I am determined to see it's completion. I have sourced a set of resin seats, and a roll bar, which I will manipulate into a 6 - 10 point cage.
  22. May I make a suggestion? Look at it from a different perspective. You're trying to make the GTO look like a roadster. Make a roadster look like a GTO instead.
  23. Updates!?
  24. As for it's proportions... It's still better then an MPC kit any day. Yeah, the kit has issues, and CAN NOT be built stock. It's also 1/24th and not 1/25th scale. Any how I'll be watching with interest to see what happens to that AMT(original) kit!
