  1. AH HAH! Thanks Chuck, I can hardly wait. As for all the other replies. GOOD LOOKING OUT... And thank you all. This is why this place ROCKS! Bob F
  2. Let me be the umpteenth to say. SWEET. The color and stance are correct. I had a friend that worked at the local Auto Zone. PR guy from NY. Had a Datsun [early 80's something or other]. One day he opened the hood and there was this custom mounted, with a big Holley, ROTARY sitting in it. Took me for a ride [i had a Turbo Dodge Omni then]. GOD, did that thing move! What a racket though... In a good way. Very well done sir Bob F
  3. Muchas Gracias george. I have a couple of leads now. Bob F
  4. Ni pics that I know of but mine was a gold 74 Plymouth Duster with a slant six. I blew up that slant 6 2 years later. I know, HOW did you do that???!!!! I have no idea. Bob F
  5. Got me one. I've been visiting model Armor websites and getting weathring and wear techniques so I can make mine look nice and battle scarred. Nice build there. Bob F
  6. I saw a kit on eBay a while back. Shoulda grabbed it then. I did an exhaustive web search and I cannot find that kit anywhere!! It was the front bumper/grill to backdate the Twister vega. I see the whole bodies out there [modelroundup] but I have the Twister coming. It was light green resin if I recall correctly. There were other parts with it as well. Real complete looking. Decals are not a problem but this backdating thing has got me in a pickle. ANYONE????? TIA Bob F
  7. Let me be the first to say GORGEOUS..... Bob F
  8. From what can only be described as a "bear of a kit" to that is impressive indeed. Color, fit, finish are all superb. And there you were worrying......................... Another strong build my friend. Bob F
  9. I see the differences. I am going to do the 1974 car. I have the Comp Resins hood scoop coming. I have a Twister Vega coming. I have the decals, although I'm going to paint the brick red portions. I have what I need. I do have a few pix of the motor with the black valve covers which is the "74" car. Just some interior shots, perhaps some other motor shots. Any help is Muy appreciated Bob F
  10. I'm about to do a full detail of the Vega. What do any of you guys have for reference photos? I did a web search and got a couple but it seems there are not many out there. Personal stash? Help a brutha....... Bob F
  11. OMG, how embarrasing............... Your build is superb. I copied the kit box and didn't even use my brain..... I'll fix that. Thanks. Bob F
  12. This here is a 3 day build to put down the Super Bee and Garlits builds and have some fun. Tamiya Metallic blue and hand painted extras. The exhaust is till drying and I need a white Gel pen for the tires. Other than that it's done. Dave Deal R.I.P. Enjoy! Bob F PS: My photography is not up to snuff so please excuse the flash....
  13. I'm sooooo right with you on this one. I just posted Dave Deals Van as a way to get away from more challenging projects. This is probably the best this kit has EVER been done. A Classic in every sense. Bob F
  14. Only 1 pic of the flipnose Vega wagon?? You are killin me... LOL Bob Frias
  15. Bobby Brady shirt, Pro Keds, and my Black Knight skateboard. 1974
  16. Aaaahhhh, I remember well. I bought all 3 of the Monogram 1/32 gasser kits for less than 5.00 TD stuff was 2.25. AFX were 6.50 a car [big Money!] My paper route was 96 papers. Good ole days indeed. Bob F
  17. THIS is one I wish they'd reissue, or even retool. Well done as well. You are prolific sir. Bob F
  18. That is very tough on the eyes. Roth was too cool for THAT. Dobbertin.... maybe. Looks like Pimp My Ride got a deal on pink paint and had at it. It has cool elements, but as a whole, it needs to be in a hole. Of course, I wear checkered Vans so what do I know? Bob F
  19. I have read, then re-read this entire thread. In the back of my mind there is this knawing little guy who keeps saying "They are honoring the past and perhaps the debt they owe TD as well as releasing subjects that kids may enjoy". Then I did a search and BAM! Sites containg TD stuff everywhere! HHmmmmmm. Altered versions, stock versions, kids versions. I'll wager part of this has to do with the somewhat minor success of the Dave Deal stuff which Revell owned. The fact that Dave passed a year or so ago not withstanding. TD and Dave Deal are THE model car showrod designers. I didn't include Ed Roth because he did 1:1 stuff and that his cars were made into models is secondary to those accomplishments [although admittedly important to Revell in particular]. These are FUN kits that build easily into acceptable models that kids can enjoy. My own experiences are such that the first TF F/C I ever built was the Earthquake snap kit. I then bought Lil Red baron and Lil Tarantula. I had built glue cars before but these practically fell together and they were on the shelf for my parents friends to oooh and aaahh over. They had value for me since the were accomplishments. I then moved on to S'cool Bus and other TD kits. Putting together an Ed Roth kit is an excersise in futility for a burgeoning modeler and his limited skillset. Then there's the fun factor of these kits. The thematic designs are spot on and well executed by the mold makers across the board. EVERY TD kit is a masterwork of ease of assembly and stiking visual impact. I have a Fast Buck I built many years ago that I still keep my foreign currancy in. It's bank right? To those detractors I would say this.... For every RR, TJ Taxi and Red Baron that sells there is money going into some design project that will thrill you down the road. The bonus is that we are likely to get KIDS building cars with their dads like I did all those years ago. From that we get a two fold bonus. The bonding of a son/daughter and father, and a new modeler for the future of our hobby. Stop seeing dark clouds. Bob F EDIT: As an aside, I would add that I do not care for 30's,40's or 50's cars all that much. But did I go PooPoo all over the 32 Ford threads? Certainly not. I know all too well those cars are loved and enjoyed by many. The same thing applies here as well. Enjoy what you enjoy by all means. But remember, you're not the only one who bought a tube of glue this week.
  20. Looks very good from what I can see. Post better pix. Super Bee's rock Bob F
  21. Only one real update here for now. I am polishing out the clearcoat with a Novus kit now since the Tamiya kit cannot be imported into this country. Is this correct? I ordered it a while back and the LHS [Overlea Hobbies Baltimore] said no worries. I went the other day and he said we cannot get it imported. Interesting. He had a Novus kit there for 9.99 so i grabbed it. It works VERY nice and the orange peel [what there was of it], simply melted away. I am hooked on it now. But this post is about george53 and the HEMI decal he sent me. What a pal..... Take a look and I hope to have some finished pix [maybe an update or two], within the next week. I have a Rommel's Rod I NEED to build right after this. Bob F
  22. These look very nice and i was actually already planning my builds based on the pix of the sprues [Thanks for that]. I built these back in the day and was ALWAYS fond of TD kits. I think I've built nealy all of them over the years. Between him and Dave Deal I am happier than a pig in poo. These will NOT appeal to everyone, but they will probably be quite a few kids first glue kits. My first glue kit was Deals Wheels Bug Bomb. It was simple to assemble, molded in color [for the most part]. My Dad baought me my first jar paints to paint the driver figure in it. I think he still has it in a box somewehere. Point is, these are going to sell very well and the expense of reverse engineeering was probably not as bad as some may think. I'll donate my Mint Aurora VooDoo F/C for reverse engineering if that will mean making them available again. Welcome additions. Bob F
  23. I have to say Pat, the realism is sublime. I like your building style very much. The subject matter don't hurt none neither..... Bob F
  24. After reading it all there is overwhelming evidence that you are not only NOT ALONE in this, but that we are all behind you in whatever you decide for your builds. Box stock Dave Deal clunker? Awesome! Super detailed hemi VW? Go For It..... Glue Bomb, not painted, vintage AMT? Well, let's not get crazy now........... This community ROCKS as you can see. When folks write posts like yours, the supporting cast comes out of the woodwork to gently lift you up. It's like Family really......... Bob F
  25. Absolutely stunning execution there...... What kit is this?? I must have one... I love me some BowTies! Bob F
