That looks VERY nice Steve. I applied the stripes on the deck on mine and when I went to install the hood ones....... well, let's just say there were problems... Soooo, I'm going to leave the rear deck stripes and paint the hood semi black. I HATE this kind of modeling. I doubt there are stripes for a cowl induction hood out there for this car... Are there? The rest looks great, the paint is going to be poyfect. That Testors laquer is almost foolproof. I'm taking lisence with it since it's not a great kit, and I wasn't going to go full hog anyway. The motor is excellent, as is most of the other parts in this kit. Steve, the alternator in that AMT kit is on the wrong side!!! Will they ever properly do this majestic car correctly? The Baldwin Motion seem nice. I'll wager with a couple of kits combined, an accurate one COULD result. But who wishes to spend all that on it? Back to the workbench for me. Bob F

I did a search for 1970 Chevelle SS kits and I'll be horn swaggled if there isn't that many. The AMT one is awful with the molded in driveline, this Monogram one looks to be the best one out there. Which is sad really considering it's one of the TOP 5 all time Muscle cars period. This is a grossly overlooked car is plastic. How many Hemi Cuda's do we have? Geez............. Unless there is someone with some beacon of hope???? Bob F

I have a Monogram Chevelle kit here that i'm building. The one from 1980 to be exact. It's OK I guess. Kinda simple as they did it back then. My question is. Who makes the best kit of this Year/Make/Model??? I have the MCG Detail set. I already painted the car [italian Red Laquer over grey primer]. It's going to be nice but after some research i see things that are not right, or omitted altogether. I'm not going to go crazy with this build but i want it to be fairly accurate. So who makes the nicest one? TIA Bob F

Absolutely original and wonderful. Beautiful execution and even the color seems right. Best thing I've seen done with an Italian since that blind date I went on last year. Bob F

I've been watching and your builds are improving. Time to start "sweating" the little stuff. As you do start "sweating" these things your builds cleanliness begins to go up. You are on the right track. Bob F

THIS is a beauuuutiful build.... Perhaps a couple of stripes or a theme of some kind. Would seem a shame to cover that nice color. But to make an omlete......... Very nice indeed. Bob F

I LOVE the NHRA. It's in my blood. 4 lanes is AWESOME, as a sideshow type thing. I like the idea of four nitro burning cars hitting WOT all at once...... WOW! I'm sure this is just a "get em in the seats" type stunt since it doesn't serve for REAL racing. But MAN, that musta been some kinda loud!!! For those who have never been close to a Fuel car as it takes off, there is nothing like it in this world. That video was great. It's already making the rounds with my family. Bob F

I have not built one of these since 1976. I have one around here somewhere that I hope comes out that nice. Great work. Bob F

Great car, but the wheels and tires???? Good start on the body though. Make it a big block. Bob F

Glad to see one of your builds up here Gregg!!!!!!!!!! Color combo is nice. The wheels ain't my thing but they do look good. Finish it! Bob F

Better than my first try by quite a bit Emily... By the time you've done your 20th you'll be better than some here hehehehehehehehehee. Very nice Bob F

One of the nicest yet. Purty...... and cleanly detailed. Bob F

Holey Moley! That is cool............. How big is the decal sheet? Looks like it comes in 2 sheets. Cannot wait to see it finished. Bob F

Sorry for not getting to say Bye today Dave. I was wrapped up in conversation with Ron Hamilton. It was really great to meet ya. Putting faces to names is always nice. I'll be at the MAMA meetings regular. You think Norman liked it THAT much? I wasn't hanging around it so I didn't see. I know he asked me to take it out of the box so he could shoot pics of it. Flattering indeed. I forgot the bring my Garlits build [which is a good thing, since it's the only other thing I have going]. I have something for next meeting. Great to meet ya bro Bob F

Thanks Ron. It was great being there and putting faces to names. I was made to feel quite at home and now I am offcially a MAMA. I consider your compliments to be high praise indeed sir. Once again..... Thanks I think it would be PIMPIN. STRAIGHT UP PIMPIN! Not my kind of thing, but what do I know???? Do It! Bob F

I wanted to thank you as well Bill. Seems like some of these techniques have passed me by. A refresher and in depth lesson from a Master is exactly what the Dr. ordered for me. Thanks Bill!!!! Bob Frias AKA: Dragline

A beautiful ressurection if I have ever seen one. The detail and paint are perfect. And Kudos to Tamiya for sending replacement decals. There is customer service still out there, although to be fair Revell/Monogram are doing the same thing. Well done. Bob F

Measures out at 4-1/4 from where it goes vertical in the front to where it goes vertical in the rear. Gonna use REAL tracks?? Bob F
-
Thanks for the Kudos guys. The kit literally falls together. You spend all your time getting things painted as assembly is soooo easy. I'll post pix of the completed build in a day or 2 once the final washes are done. I have ZERO experience with Armor and these techniques are easy to employ. Thanks Tom Daniel!!! Bob F

US forces have been chasing Rommel and his vaunted Africa Corps across the desert. Here we see Der General in a moment of relaxation before his end run back to HQ. I went to some Armor bulletin boards to get some ideas for wear techniques and colors. Testors Light Desert Tan and various Tamiya paints adorn Der Genrals car. I used heat to make the dents and .50 Cal damage. I used a soft pencil to make the steel wear. Skeletons are Testors 33531 Sand. It's so close to actual bone color. I have the other track to weather and then they both get a dark wash. The flags and the windows are all that are left. I'm using an old technique to show the windshield wiper marks. This was a FUN build of a true classic. Bob F

HOLY SCHNICKY'S!!!!! Fantastic chassis, body work et all........... Ambitious and accurate. Two things that seperate you from standard kit builders [i being one of the latter]. I'll be paying attention. Bob F

Any of you guys seen this before?

With 18+ years in the garage I have seen this many times. the impellers actually slowly corrode over time and eventually there is nothing there to move the coolant. It can be a mystery if the WP isn't leaking and all other items seem in good nick. I would't worry overmuch about metal in the passages but a flush is in order clearly. Usually I just took off the WP and this is what I'd see [referring to your pix]. Easy fix usually and it should run cooler but be careful. I'm not certain what temp the thermostat needs to be, but I'd refer to the factory spec as a starting point. When you use factory setting you must use factory plug heat range as well for maximum HP and milage. Glad you got it sussed. I didn't read the other posts so I'm certain you got good advice already. ok, I was thinking of doing this one as well. Tell me, what is the body? Resin from Slixx website? I know about the decals. I see a Revell chassis and motor underneath. Looks good for a slam build. Bob F
