Car Repair Ripoffs 1: Dealerships

Putting oil back in seems like a no brainer until you realize no brain was actually used. Isn't the FIRST thing you do after changing the oil is checking the level? -
Car Repair Ripoffs 1: Dealerships
Dragline replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I fixed my share of dealer "repairs" in the past. When I got married in 94 my wife wanted a Jeep. We got her a new Wrangler and part of the deal was oil changes for a year or so. So I took it myself to get the oil changed and it went quickly. They pulled it up to the front door running. I jumped in, got to the bottom of the driveway and the oil pressure gauge went berzerk and I smelled oil. Turns out they put 6 cylinders worth of oil into a 4 cylinder. -
OUTSTANDING survivor. This is a kit that sorely needs to be reissued.

Don continues to inspire me all the years after I saw his creations up close. He would take chances with every project and come out on top without exception. I still use pics of his cars as a way of showing myself what can be done in scale. R.I.P. Don.

Please folks. Come to NAPA for parts and advise. While I cannot vouch for the advise at all locations the parts should be there or close by. 9012 bulbs [or 9012LL Long Life] are in stock at my store. Between the three of us on the counter there is nearly 100 years of experience. NAPA pays far more than any others "parts stores" and thus attracts competent counter people. I cannot say for sure who you'll encounter at your NAPA but I can be certain they will be ASE certified. Parts counter ASE is indeed different from garage ASE but it does require competence to pass. I am true ASE and Bosch certified with nearly 20 years working on Euro autos from A to Z. I personally keep informed about the latest car woes and having a friends garage on each side of my store doesn't hurt either. But don't trust me my car leaks every fluid other than wiper blue water. Now to go dig out my car before work. Looks like we got a couple of inches overnight.

I joined in Dec 08. Amazing how time passes. -
I inherited my house. My Father bought it in 1980 for 45,000.00. It is currently valued at 165,000.00 but that took 38 years. When the rail is finally done this city will become a Boston bedroom community and the prices will go up quite a bit. I will sell it and move to a small country house where i will die in peace.

Geez......

I see no evidence that this home is even worth 250, 000.00. The materials are substandard, the build quality is shoddy to say the least. How big is that lot? Looks like it's sitting on a 1/4 acre at most. Who buys these jalopys?

OK, this thread is blossoming a bit. My own take on Porsche sound is like this. I've driven 930 Turbo cars. I've worked on more than a few mid 70's cars [My background and training is all Euro]. And having driven Ferrari, Porsche, big and small block Ford, Chrysler and Chevy, and I for one am not enamored with Porsche sound. You can train the American to work on Euro but you cannot take the American out of that wrench. I actually like the pulse of a Subaru flat four as much as anything that came out of Stuttgart. The only Porsche that ever got me revved was a whale tail mid 80's Turbo that I tuned back in 91. THAT car was a beast and it came on so brutally and the tone was all business to my ears. But it stopped as good as it went so I was OK with what that car offered. But my ears love small and big block Chevrolet, and now LS architecture. That is the sound I love and may one day lament. Although I suspect that sound will still be throbbing long after I've left this plane. -

I guess one or two converted wouldn't be such a bad thing. I'd like to take it for a spin. -

I did mean shifter balls. Wow, 9 of em? Ordering today. Thanks -
My customer MS Classic Cars is heading out to Jackson tomorrow. They came in and got some emergency gear for the ride. They are bringing 10 cars and a couple I got to take a spin in. The manual 69 Camaro and the gold 67 GTO are standouts. They have been going for 3 years now and they sell out every time. Of course they bring really nice stuff.

Nice touch on the roof. Don't want to bang your head. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

Help ID old family cars

When cars were made of metal it seems. Notice how the 25# young lady is not even denting the fender. -
Glad I didn't have to learn that way Pete. That is a tasty tidbit there Joe. Time to SHRED. Oh wait...what Pete said. Even though my fronts are a tad low pro they were up to it yesterday morning. About 1/2 way to work and I turned tail. The store closed at 10:00 and now I'm looking at my driveway and it's a frozen mess. I threw out ice melt last night [Actually 3 AM this morn]. Good thing I did.

Yessir, studded tires. The are no longer legal in Mass I believe. Typical Dem state.

No chains here. My FWD Cavalier does well.
