  1. "DANNNGGGGG!!" Seriously - Looks beyond cool in color, brother; can't wait to see it up close.
  2. I concur - Very nice job on that Beetle, Tony. It's rare to see one of those Revell VW's completed at all....they mostly wind up as parts donors at my house.
  3. It's a beautiful car either way, but I'm saying 'real' this time around
  4. Shot in the dark, but something told me to say 'model' this time.
  5. I never thought I'd have this much fun being wrong.
  6. Even without an airbrush, interior paints are accessible; Scale Motorsports' "Faux Fabric" is an option, as is Krylon's "Make it Suede." I get the SM stuff at the NNL East vendor room each time I visit, and my local Michaels' craft store sells the Krylon. I've had good results with both.
  7. I have no logical explanation as to my vote.....my usual M.O. .....but I voted 'real' this time.
  8. If you wipe the threads clean with thinner while the jar is open, it might help avoid any problems. I generally use little amounts of brush paint, and I dip small brushes in the cap rather than the bottle itself; less paint use means less waste and better control IMO. For what it's worth, a pair of pliers is a regular part of my model 'tool kit.'
  9. I avoided the last ROM because I was afraid I'd give too much away. This one has to be a model, I say.
  10. Great pics, Wayne, and thanks for sharing them with us. Looks like a good time for any Mopar nut. I'm surprised that I've not seen a 'Joe Dirt' Charger replica until now.....that's gotta be a hoot to cruise in for sure, but I hope they weren't trying to say it's the real deal. I've seen the real movie car at the Chryslers at Carlisle show a couple of times in recent years, as it lives in either PA or VA.
  11. CSC won't hurt plastic, and I left a body soaking in it for about 8 months to test it.....I've had good results with CSC against lacquer paint, but not primer. It can't hurt to try it IMO.
  12. Mike's right, the Monte SS kit has a nicely-done smallblock. Gregg - If you need one of those Monte engines I have an unbuilt one I'm willing to donate to your project; email me and lemme know.
  13. Military modelers are definitely a good group to learn from, but railroad modelers are as well.
  14. No need to go all Perry Mason on me.....sorry I even posted in this thread, jeez.
  15. Gotta be real, I say. Any good-sized photo studio could provide room for those high-vantage shots, and I can't recall seeing a model car window net that 'wrinkly;' nearly all I've seen look like they've been starched and ironed.
  16. Can't go wrong with these folks IMO. Shipping is fast and reasonable, and they're super prompt at answering questions too: ThePartsBox.Com I'm told Hiroboy is pretty good to deal with, but nearly all of their resin engine bits are PartsBox products; I prefer to go right to the source. Shipping from Australia to the US might sound scary, but it's really quite reasonable(the US dollar is $1.11AU as of this morning). On my first order I got 2 local friends to pick stuff from their catalog, and we split the shipping.
  17. 'Gift' models are always a hit, especially if the recipient loves their car....and I've found that if it's a complete surprise it's an even cooler gift. I may be in over my head, but I've got 3 going at present(2 of them actually stand a good chance of making the deadline ).
  18. Ask and ye shall receive, brother. RAT PATROL BUILD-UP And here's another site with several Bug top chop methods: RUNTROD.COM
  19. I figured I should recommend my favorite 'stupid easy' method....brown Sharpie marker. As interior panels aren't too big, it might be feasible. My buddy Matt tried it on his '37 Ford truck's bed, and I say he got pretty decent results for nearly no effort: The marker was used on bare plastic, and he reapplied it to some random areas to deepen the color.
  20. The Hotwheels 'RigorMotor' has two skull headlights on it, and they're plenty useful as shift knobs: And you can't pass up the "2 for less than a buck" price anyway.
  21. Complete shot in the dark for me.....you sure gave us a tough one this time around, Harry....I'm saying 'real.'
  22. Great job so far, Jamie; I agree that she's sure to love it, and I'm looking forward to seeing more progress.
  23. I'ma have to say 'real' this time.....can't exactly say why, but there it is.
  24. If the gauges and vinyl texture you speak of are molded in the plastic, the brake fluid will not harm them at all.
