  1. If I were you id install the piece that is the bottom of the rear can before I paint. If I remember right it leaves a nasty seem that you'd wanna get rid of. Just my 2 cents. Looks awesome so far tho.
  2. Ben keep us posted. I am glad to see someone with your skills tackling this. Your work so far is amazing. Can't wait to see it done. Looking even more forward to seeing its big brother.
  3. I have an autocar book somewhere, not sure if it has anything that would help you out, but it may be worth looking into. It's one of those photographic history books. You might also try the american truck historical society. You might also try getting the number from the truck you posted the picture of and contacting them, its a long shot, but cant hurt.
  4. I've bought several different wheel and tire combinations from Ben and Jamie and have to say that they have always been top notch. As soon as I get some time back at the bench I will have to post some of my in progress work. But I will just say that I highly recommend anything that Ben and Jamie have up for sale, you you won't be disappointed.
  5. I'd love to see some closer pics of this one, but it definitely looks better than the play-doh motor on ebay. I'm very interested in this one. Keep us posted.
  6. So after you poured the first half and it cured, you put the mold release on the the contact surface between the first pour and the second? It sounds from your post that you used the mold release before the first pour but not between the first and the 2nd.
  7. I'd personally like to see the IH S series trucks reissued. The Macks would be nice to see again, but then again they were just done. I'll take the t-600 again as it makes a good platform for several of the kw conversions I have.
  8. My lhs had it from an estate they had bought. I ended up buying several of the resin pieces they had, and worked out a sweet deal for it. It looks really good, but I didnt expect any any less.
  9. Has anyone built a 900b using one of the transkits out there? I picked up an old r and c kit a while ago, and was curious to see what others have done with them.
  10. Just curious what size those bars are, they look huge compared to the original frame with the cab. Also, just wondering what glue you used with the italeri frame you tried. Hopefully this frame works for ya with the amount of work you've invested in it. Chris
  11. I am dying to find out what's brewing....please keep us posted.
  12. How many of you guys go all out detailing your truck chassis? Does anyone have pictures of a chassis they've detailed in progress? I only ask because I am kicking the idea around in my head and probably just need some motivation. I am currently working on an old r&c trucking paystar, which I have a detailed up 3406e to drop into and am currently stretching the frame for an 18' lanau dump body from gw trucks. I also have a chalmers rubber block suspension ill most likely use on it. I will try to get pics this weekend dependant upon work. Thanks guys.
  13. I was excited at first....until I saw that. The belts look nice. The rest needs a tiny bit of work, a lot more than I can handle.
  14. Thank you Rick for the wealth of information. I had a feeling I was going to be scratchbuilding one if I decided to go with it. I will have to make a trip to measure up the truck I am wanting to replicate. Again, thank you for the info. Chris
  15. I know that there are people who sold him resin in the past that won't be doing anymore. I know the reasons I was given, but don't want to post them here. It would be nice to see him restock his other lines, as it was easier to order from him than from some of the resin companies he carried. Unfortunately there aren't many alternatives out there. Hoping that either he or someone else steps up to the plate.
  16. I was referring to uptown automotive as far as the w/t grille, I realize fully that the grill is for a pickup and not a box truck, just happened to be what I was looking for when I found the box truck. As far as the hubs on the dually rims go, I still feel that they look undersized in most applications, such as this one. The hubs would definitely not match the ones in the photo of the real truck that started this thread. Just my opinion.
  17. I will check into my stash of mack kits. Worst case, ill just scratchbuild one. I was hoping I could take the easy way out and just buy one. Thanks for the help guys.
  18. And definately keep me posted on this one. This sounds like a fun project.
  19. Im not sure who actually makes the thing. I stumbled on it a while ago while looking for a w/t grill for a chevy truck. As far as wheels and tires, besides the monogram f350 you can check with bnl resins, I also believe that modelhaus and rmcom also carry dually rims. Been a while since I was on the hunt for some, so I dont recall what styles they have etc. I can tell you that if you do use the monogram rims that the rear hubs kill the look of the rims. Hopefully this helps a little.
  20. That pic helped out a lot actually. I hadn't thought of aitm. I am mostly gathering parts and plans for future builds right now. I've been so busy with work and planning a wedding for the beginning of september that its really cut into my build time. I really appreciate the help.
  21. Does anyone out there carry the aircleaner for a mack r model with a tip turbine setup? I believe that the aircleaner is taller than the one in the amt kit, and also has provisions for 2 intake hoses. I could modify the kit one, but was hoping that someone already took the time to do so. Thanks
  22. There is a 70's Grumman available here http://www.uptown-automotive.com/viewCars.php?id=18. Hopefully you can use that as a starting point.
  23. That came out real good. I'm a huge fan of the way that came out. Where did the accessories in the bed come from?
  24. Usually if you go to the manufacturers' websites you can download a spec sheet, that typically contains atleast a line drawing. The tough thing is the fact that most dump bodies are available in various lengths and heights, so you may have to tweak the drawings some to suit your needs. Is there a specific body that you're after? If I can help I will.
