Prolific artist and builder Jairus Watson passed away early May 19, 2025, in Salem Oregon. Known for his illustrations, he was also a writer, contributor to magazines like Scale Auto Enthusiast, Model Cars and Slot Cars Magazine where he was also the editor. His box art graced kits from AMT, Galaxie, Revell and Trumpeter. He designed art for several die-cast series by Jonny Lightning. His illustrations can be seen as instruction sheets and articles on creating latches and hinges for model cars. He built many slot cars for customers around the world, often with incredible detail and sourcing vintage components. He won Best of Show at GSL in 1986.

Quick question, Brother: what is the source of the '26/'27 Roadster body? As for the rest of this awesome thread... only you could mash all of the right parts together to create a period correct FE rail! -KK -
Absolutely stunning, Brother! Once thought to be a very basic Model A body this has morphed into a custom coach works modified Town Coupé. When finished I wonder how many will be able to detail the true number changes that have been incorporated into this masterfully engineered hot rod!?. -KK

These are due to a comment from Steve Milberry aka @Can-Con when he dropped his '29 Ford Sedan Delivery Look-A-Like: When I saw his '29 Ford Sedan Delivery Look-A-Like it was time to follow through with pulling the parts for a pair of twin Look-A-Likes: a '29 Ford Sedan Delivery & a '29 Ford Tudor Sedan... -KK

Some time ago the late great Dave Fletcher (R.I.P.) and I worked on an idea of turning a '29 Ford roadster into a 5ive window coupe. @carnut aka Mike Kerns sent me a few of Dave's W.I.P.s: One especially caught my eye: This body made me look twice as to how it appeared to come together! Background search located these line drawings with measurements from the original Fords: The numbers tell the story, but the outcome has it differences! Here what Dave cobbled together based on the Revell '29 Roadster and the Revell '30 Coupe kits: A later iteration looked like this: Following a bit of thought the combination of possible donors to bashing together Revell kit parts to come up with a '29 Ford Coupe "Look-A-Like" utilizing the cowl from the Revell '29 Closed Cab - Roadster Pickup: Doing a few measurements found the kit parts could be merged together to create a '29 looking 5ive window: Where it goes from here depends on how this looks after it gets cleaned up... -KK
