  1. I second what Bob said also. I've used the Tamiya compounds almost exclusively since I first tried it. With using various methods of getting your color or clearcoats relatively smooth such as wetsanding kits from detail master, i've seldom had to use the red cap coarse one. I've also had very good luck using these with the Testors laquer factory finishes as well as the Tamiya.
  2. Wow that's a thing of beauty !!!
  3. I just picked up some paint today. Does anyone know if HobbyLobby will be carrying the new Dart kit and the ZR1 ? That is the closest hobby store to me but they didn't have it now.
  4. Oh yeah most definetely. Was cutting open a trunk lid when the xacto knife slipped and cut me deeply between the thumb and index finger. Er visit and stitches ensued. Unfortunately it severed a nerve and I lost feeling in the thumb which required surgery to reattach the nerve. It's taken several years now for that to work but now have some feeling back in the thumb. Was very clumsy there for a while. That was the most expensive model i've ever built when you figure in all the medical bills !!! But I was right back at the workbench !!
  5. I lucked up on a Tamiya Nissan GTR at Hobby Lobby priced at $17.99 !! I added a 40% off coupon to that and man was that a lucky buy !!! It wasn't a clearance sticker either. Had to be mis-priced. Oh well, my advantage !!
  6. I accepted him in the past because of his ties with Ferrari. But now that he's crossed over to the darker side I have no desire to see him do well. Judging from his performance I have nothing to worry about.
  7. Now that's awesome !!!

    Trantula

Cool shot. Reminds me of when I was a kid and had the original. I used to take it out in the driveway and take pictures up close like that. Thanks for the memories and you done a fine job on this one.
  9. Very sweet Chris. Wheels look just right too!
  10. I agree that it was very lame. I'm so tired of the over exposure to Nascar and especially to things that don't have anything to do with racing, like this show !! I'd rather watch paint dry !!!!
  11. I got my DVD of Lemans Review 2009. They are great for reference and just a good old racing fix !!
  12. Well I finally got my new computer and set it up today. Wow it's so nice when everything runs as it should. The last one got a bug and locked up on me. I restored it but will use it as a backup.
  13. I have done right at 140 in my 71 Rally Nova I built. Was way to scary at that speed with front end lift and had to chase the steering to keep it straight. Also have done the same in my '91 Grand Prix 3.4. Man was it stuck to the road !! Felt great at that speed. The faster you went with it the more stable it was. It has the body kit on it just like the Richard Petty Edition does. Difference like day and night in those two cars at speed. Was fun but i'm not that brave anymore !!
  14. I had that kit as a kid and it was a lot of fun. If you spend a litle time detailing it it'll help. The little draggon in the back was cool to paint up wild colors too. Have fun with this one. I may just have to get it again this time around. Danny.
  15. Well I'm like Bob in that I like to do my paint and bodywork first. That is the part I enjoy the most. Depending on how well that part turns out will determine how much I detail the interior and chassis and engine. If the paint job is one of my better ones, i'll add lots of detailing. If it's not up to my standards, i'll just build oob. I seldome use the instructions in order. Just my 2 cents worth.
  16. I got the same engine kit also as a door prize too Bob. Of course I had to go over and get the kit from Kevin then !! I'd been wanting to get the car kit for a long time anyway, it just all worked out that way this time !! Strada Rules !!! Danny
  17. Very nice Brendan. Nice work on the interior components and the body is just right. Makes me want to hunt one of these down and slide it in place of some of my Ferrari's. Great work and keep us posted. Danny
  18. Man those look really nice. Where did you find the M/D decals? Did they come with the transkit? I love all the T/A kits that Revell did. With a clean and detailed build, like yours, they look sweet. Danny

    Nissan 350Z

WOW, drop dead gorgeous is what i'd say !!!!! Excellent paint work. What brand and name of paint did you use? Love it. Danny
  20. Oh my, that is beautiful !!!!I love the paint color and a great job on the applying the paint also. What color and brand is the paint? The wheels just set it all off and they just pop !!! I love it man. Danny
  21. That is awesome !!!!! I love it. I'm partial to this kit anyway as my son and I have built our own versions each as a father/ son project. Your version of it is spot on. Thanks for sharing. Danny
  22. Thanks for the pics Gregg. I saw some cool items in there, and I couldn't believe my eyes, I saw a Vega too !!! Yipeeeee !! Danny
  23. My favorite era, I love those group C machines !!! Thanks for the link.
  24. Those look great Sam. Hang in there man, i've been there. Had left thumb joint replaced with a tendon removed from my forearm. The modeling is actually good physical therapy for it. It gets better in time. But your doing fine with those boats. Good luck. Danny
  25. I'm lovin it !! It's about time Tamiya answered the bell when Fujimi has them on the mat. Another gotta have !!
