  1. Rob, I have some material that may be exactly what you need. It is a cloth that was a large toy bag. I have used it many times for nascar window nets and is perfect for that. It is red color and I always paint it with flat black spray. I have a lifetime supply and will gladly send you some for free. Just email me through my profile and it is yours.
  2. That's the way we were at G/Y, with an hourly + small commission. We never actually got that $100 per hour. This other one with the low rate did exactly as you said. Made me charge the low rate but tried to make me pad the book time such as rounding up the say 2.3 hr. time to 3.0 and such. I loved my customers and respected them too much to do that. Many of them had followed me around for years and trusted me. I always prided myself in being honest and fair to loyal customers.
  3. As I had said earlier, in 04 I was a ASE Master Tech at GoodYear and we were at $100 per hr. Soon after I left they went to $110. I went to an independent shop as service mgr and the owner would only let me charge $45 per hr. Yet he complained I wasn't charging enough and making enough profit !!! He has been that same rate at least 10 years that I know of !!! DUUUHHH !!!
  4. LOL....... You got that right Harry !! When I quit turning wrenches full time in '04 we got over twice that !!! Hmmm, maybe I need to start doin that again !!! Oh yeah that's right, my body says are you crazy !!!
  5. Yeah Terry in all my years of auto service, i've always hated those things. They are known for that and also seem to loose tension once they have been squeezed apart causing them to leak. I always liked to never reuse them and would just replace them with a worm type clamp. I mean hey, those have been around forever and they work, and are cheap. Why try to invent a better mousetrap when it ain't broke??? Guess you were out a tow bill too huh ?? But glad you finally caught a break.
  6. I believe #10 is Jack from Model Roundup......
  7. As others have said, have no fear with Kevin. He is a personal friend of mine and a great guy to do business with. He has always done me right. If it is an item he is out of stock, he will let you know and will ship immediately when he has it. And is very reasonable on his shipping. He is my preffered place to go to when i'm ready to buy.
  8. Sorry to hear that man. Good thing you got checked out. Oh well, this gives you more time to dream up more cool plans for your models !! Get well soon !!
  9. My cat was the same way with my hand surgeries !! She kept wanting to lay right on top of the cast and hand. Like she was saying " Here, i'll make it all better " !! And she also did the same when my son had intestinal surgery, laying right up against his stomach !! They are amazing and so loving...!
  10. Congrats George. I'm lookin at my 37th soon myself. These women are the best !!!
  11. Yeah you're goin through the hardest part now. It WILL get better though. I had a nerve block under my arm for a thumb reconstruction surgery and felt like my arm weighed 50 lbs. the rest of the day, but no pain. That is untill way up in the night it wore off and I was screamin for the meds !! Mepragan was my best buddy till I ran out of it !! Unfortunately it set me on a path of likin that kinda stuff too much for too long !! Bottom line, use it for the pain, but don't depend on it long. It will get better soon ! Prayin for ya and hope ya get well soon. Now ya got an excuse to stay at the model bench as long as you can stand it !!
  12. As he said you don't HAVE to, but I myself generally alternate directions with each grit to make sure you get the full effect of the grits. Depending on the curvature and trim areas of the body, sometimes I don't always follow that rule, only where it's feasable for the flater and larger areas. And I second that you don't have to use pressure, let the grits do the work for you.
  13. If I can ever find my pics of it, i'll try and get them scanned into the comp. and post them here.
  14. I have seen the remains of that car in person, it's truly a miracle he's alive. To know someone could survive that horrible a crash just blows my mind. The way it is all curled up and shredded away yet his seat area was intact, proves there are angels among us. He's here for a reason !! I have build that kit a couple times myself and I know what a challenge the decals are and you've done a fantastic job !!
  15. Is there anywhere I can see a list of the winners results also ??

  18. Has anyone heard from Gregg ?? Like to know he is out of harms way and get his viewpoint on all this !! Also, HobbyLink Japan has took a hit !! http://www.hlj.com/#null
  19. Just because you can don't mean you SHOULD !!!!!!!
  20. That is sooooo coooolll !! Very nice !!! What paint did you use ??
  21. Hello. The Atlanta Car Model Enthusiasts ( ACME ) is a GREAT club to hang out with ! I am a distant member as I live in Tn. but they make everyone feel welcome regardless of your location. Great bunch of guys and you will be glad you checked them out. http://www.acme-ipms.com/
  22. Very nice build !!! What was the deal with the dash ? I have some of these kits to build and could use a heads up on that .
  23. The weight advantage / dis-advantage vs. the aero advantage / dis-advantage is always a tuning option depending on which tracks they would be at. I have even heard of this same debate being played out in other forms of motorsports, not just the good ole boys.
  24. On the downside to that, i've also read that some teams don't like to clear them because of the added weight the clear adds to the overall weight of the car.
  25. Beautiful build !! Thumbs up !!
