  1. Polly Scale " engine black " Is very good . I also like to use it for the blacked out panels on bodies such as the AAR cuda. Not too glossy and not too flat. Just a dull satin.
  2. Thx for the heads up !! Looks very cool.
  3. They are what your potatoes and slaw and gravy come in. just wash them up and they're good as new. Sure beat those little styrofoam cups it used to come in !!!
  4. Ohhh, i've got some of those in my stash to build too !! They are sweet cars !!
  5. Here's a little tip some of you may like. I have had a problem with this paint stand not holding a body on it tight enough and resulted in the body falling off ruining my paint job a few times. I removed the spring and screw out of the center of it and installed a longer screw and nut with a couple wing nuts. Now I can adjust the tension on the body just enough to keep it from slipping and yet not warp the body sides. This way the tension stays constant and does not spring together whenever you hold it. Another mod I did was to install small velcro strips to the foam pads on the top as they had become flattened over time. Then I can install the opposing strips on the inside of the body for extra grip. I dare the bodies to slip off there now !!!! The pics are not the best but maybe you can get the idea.
  6. These little containers come with your side items from KFC and are just right to store small parts and supplies in. They are stackable and the lids seal tight. They could also be used for soaking your decals in. I'm sure you guys can find other uses for them also. Oh yeah, did I mention they're free !!!! lol......
  7. Hey guys, I know i'm late to the party, but i'd like to join in with my Lamborghini Murciealago GT. It's a Scale Productions transkit with a Fujimi kit. I posted over in the workbench section before I was aware of this thread. I will post updates as I go in here also with this. Got the body primed with plasticote and have puttied in the fender flares and have more blending to do before ready for final coat of primer and color. I am doing the black/silver version from Petite Lemans in alms 04. Excellent t/kit and enjoying this one. More pics at my fotki also. Thx...
  8. Thanks Cliff. It's basically just molded in detail, with an intake to install on the topside and just a lower pan/block/diff. assy. molded together. Enough there to look convincing anyway. I'm wanting to get the Aventador kit myself, along with the Scale Productions Gallardo GT transkit coming out next month !! Already built my street Gallardo, so will have to talk my son outa one of his 3 !!! lol...
  9. This is the newest of my projects. A Scale Productions transkit with a Fujimi kit. This is an awesome transkit with lots of goodies. I am in the process of blending in the resin fender flares and side skirts at the moment. These cars are awesome to see in person. I saw them at Road Atlanta in '04 and they would light up the night with a big 'ole flame on the downshifts at the backstretch !! And the sound... wow !!! This one is gonna be a lot of fun and i'll keep updating my progress. More pics at my Fotki
  10. That is SOOO Awesome Eric !!! I knew you would do an amazing job on this and you didn't disappoint !!! Thx. for sharin the pics !! Now I want one !!!
  11. Absolutely !!! We always look forward to the next one. Now, just have to decide on what to build. I'm picking something a little bit easier this time !! Doing decals at 5 in the morning without sleep takes some of the fun out of it !!! lol.......
  12. Thx, but full disclosure here, I forgot to mention that we actually had to start the paint work a day ahead of time because of the 2 tone nature of them. And limited amount of time to prep the bodies. He was in the process of moving out at the time !!
  13. This is a Nissan R90 Tamiya kit that I built for the 24 hr. build. My son and I always have fun doin these with friends, but this year it was just us 2. Just a quick build and didn't turn out as clean as I would have liked, but the main priority was to just have fun with it and enjoy building with my son. Also he built a Fujimi Ferrari 355GT with a transkit. Hope ya like them. More pics at my Fotki site.
  14. I had a 71 Rally Nova that was Mulsanne Blue. To answer your question, True Blue pearl would be very close in the Testor line, and HOK. Tamiya would be ts 50 mica blue. At least these would be close to the blue of my Nova. The Lemans blue i'm familiar with would be a slightly lighter shade of blue. I also have purchased lots of the mcw color for mulsanne and it is dead on.
  15. And please be sure to hang the speaker back on the post before leaving !!! OK, who else is old enough to get that ???
  16. You may be thinking of when they moved from California to Atlanta. They were down for a while then due to the move if I remember correctly.
  17. Yeah I saw that. I told my wife, look Cheech is buildin a Tijuana Taxi !!!! The box was behind him, and looked like a bottle of testors glue beside the model !! The wife was like, HUH ?? She just didn't get it !! lol......
  18. WOW, talk about a nice save !!! Awesome !!!
  19. Just posted on Facebook, they will no longer be producing decals and will be selling off their remaining stock !!! Sad to hear of this. I love their decals and have given great service through the years. Just found it on their website also. http://www.slixx.com/
  20. Right here Chris. http://www.revell.com/contest/revellgearz-rules.html
  21. Just found this.... http://www.revell.com/contest/revellgearz2.html
  22. My son and I got to do a build, sorta, for this. We actually had to start the paint work earlier in the week for various reasons. But the main focus for us was to have fun building and being together !!! But we did assemble and decal them during the 24. Below is the link. Someday i'll figure out how to post my picks on here. And that's some great looking builds on here guys !!! http://public.fotki.com/ferrarifreak/rolex-24-hr-daytona/
  23. Harry, you said it exactly as I would have written it also !! I had the same routine !! I destroyed so many kits, especially Batmobiles from those flames out the back, that i could kick myself !! Crashed them into each other and across the house. But nowadays, i'll take a finished one to a couple shows to share, then into my individual cases to admire. I'll take them out occasionally to remember the good times I had building them with my son, and then back in the case.
  24. Eric, that room is just like your builds, surgical, and perfect !!!!!! Now go mess it up so the rest of us don't feel so bad !!! lol.....
  25. That'll buff right out !! LOL.... But seriously, it gives ya a good opportunity to customize it !!!
