  8. Thanks Tom. I found 3 locations within 30 miles. I will call to see if they have the sandable primer in stock.
  9. Tom, may I ask where you got that Plasticote primer ? It is imposible to find around here anymore and that has always been my go to primer !!
  10. Mehhh, i'll leave my mason jars buried in the yard till I find a Ferrari I wanna spend it on !!!
  11. I too am still following it. I had to pause on the Lambo for some health issues, then had some other projects to finish up. I have gotten the Lambo back out last week until I had to put the wifey in the hospital for a knee replacement, now am taking care of her and the home !! But wanting to get back on track and try and get it done for the ACME show in nov. !!
  12. That's pretty neat there Tom !! If I wasn't using the dehydrator I swiped from the wifey, i'd make me one !!!
  13. I worked at my local Chevy dealership throughout the time of the Vega as the front end alignment tech and the engine specialist. And man did those things keep me busy. Yeah we had lots of trouble with the engines, but more as a result of people running them hot and trying to hot rod them. That's not what they were designed for. But i'll admit, I hated the darn things for their front suspension. They were impossible to get any camber in them, and I always had to take the front crossmember out, slot it, and use a comealong to pull the 2 sides of the unibody together, and then tighten it down. Then I could adjust the eccentrics for camber. To do them right, it would take a couple hours, which they never charged extra for !! Mind you at the time our alignments cost $14.95 !! Yeah I still smart from that !! But all in all, I was kinda fond of them and the Monza.
  14. Very Cool !!! It's good to see a youngun respecting the classics !!! With the next generation in hands like these, I think it's gonna be just fine !! Keep up the great work !!
  15. This is an awesome movie !! I saw it in the theater twice and have it on dvd and blu-ray both !! The br is the best of all with a massive surround sound setup !!! Can't wait for the " Rush " movie to get finished and see it !!
  16. I had to use trial and error to get my Tamiya clears to be smooth. My method, as stated earlier is to warm the can in warm tap water about 3-5 min. I then just mist or fog on first coat, not trying to get full coverage. Turning the car to all different angles as I go, starting with the ends, then upwards from the lower areas working my way up and over the body with the mist coats to the top areas. Allowing that to tack maybe 5 minutes, same procedure getting a little more coverage. Another 5 min. or so, same procedure much slower motions to get a good even coverage. This would make 3 coats, then if I'm not completely satisfied with the smoothness, i'll lay one good heavy coat evenly. This allows the previous coats to dry a littl before getting it heave causing a run. Therefore you really only have one good heavy coat. This takes practice and watching it lay down smoothly by using the light to glare in it helps to see the smoothness. I seldom have to polish out a color or clear anymore from doing it like this. Also I should mention that I continue to re-warm the can in between tack coats as well.
  17. I'll try and get pics of my real one up after I get all my pics of it on disc. All I have right now are 3x5 pics. It was a 71, mulsanne blue with black stripe, 350 automatic. I had it over 20 yrs, was my high school rod, honeymoon getaway, all the way up till my kids were old enough to scream at me to slow down in it !!! lol.. I had it in lots of configurations and wheels, several paint jobs too. Listened to wifey one too many times and sold it to a neighbor. Regreted it ever since... Thx. for the suggestions guys and i'll give it a go, I will have to decide on the rear wheel arches after I do the other mods to it....
  18. Thanks for the suggestion. Also what about the tail lights themselves as I remember on my 1:1 Nova they were at the same angle as the panel. Since they are molded into the bumper assembly, it kinda puts a wrench in that sorta. Why did't they make those light as a separate piece !!! Arrggghhh.... I was thinking about cutting them off the bumper and just bmf them and the bumper to cover the cutoff spot. My attempts at allclad haven't been succesful for chrome.. I also thought about heating them enough to maybe just bend them slightly outward at top but that would require setting the bumper back deeper to make it flush. I guess i'll just have to start with the quarters and go one step at a time. I love this kit but that rear section is a BIG mistake they shoulda caught with everything else they did right with that kit !!
  19. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to correct the slant of the rear tailight panel on the Revell 69 Nova ? I may have overlooked it if there is already a thread on this. I have several kits I want to replicate my Rally Nova . I have already corrected some of the trim options for it, but wanted to ask before I started cutting up the rear. Thanks.
  20. Depends on how much you put on, but I can handle the body enough to put in the dehydrator in about 30 minutes, and I can take it out of dehydrator after about 2 to 3 hours. I have been known to wetsand it after that and clear it then. I love Tamiya paint for it's ability to work with quickly.
  21. I actually found some Tamiya spray paint at my local Hobbytown !!! Loaded up while the gettin was good !! Thought it was a mirage and about had a heart attack !!!! However I came down to earth a bit when I couldn't find the ts13 clear though......
  22. LOL...thanks. I honestly don't know of anyone carrying them anymore as they have been long discontinued. I bought this one years ago from Kevin at StradaSports. You might could luck up and find one on evilbay sometime !!! It was a lot of fun to build and i'd enjoy building another one myself !!
  23. Updated my album with some outside pics if anyone is interested......
  24. Very cool !! I have this same exact kit myself !! What type / brand orange did you use ??
