  1. There's many residents of MA here and more from other New England states. I'm tucked away alone in the Berkshires but you should look into joining MassCar as it's not far from you. There's also Classic Plastic up in Lowell.
  2. Nice build and different. I'd love to see a shot down level with the headers to see all those pipes!
  3. The bodywork will be worth it for this interesting build!
  4. Actually, the printer technology is the easy part! Where everyone will stumble is creating a 3D model. I've been using (not creating that much) 3D models since 1992 when 3D Studio came out. I've looked at making a car but never wanted to ride that learning curve. There are a number of people making 3D Car models and most currently sell for around $100. This is not a new thing and is a pretty established industry. So expect your 3D models to start at $100 plus printing. Here's a site with 3D Auto meshes to see what's being created now. They would still need much massaging to use for 3D printing. 3d02.com
  5. The printer uses ABS plastic so that seems like a close material to what we all know. One thing is it prints solid objects and uses a web-like interior to save material. This is good for small part but bodies would seem to be out of the picture.
  6. Good suggestions above. I'd saw get a set of drill bits like #61 - #80. I use just about all those. A caliper is also strongly recommended, but they are commonly available with digital readouts.
  7. I'm enjoying this build. Very nice work!
  8. I might finally get a 911 kit!
  9. oh my .. a Prince! That is a great looking build!
  10. John: silicone ... that has tenacious grip and I've used it for many things in modeling. It never dried clear enough for me, but maybe better when really thin. Daniel: those are some great hinge ideas. With all the help I've gotten here I came to the conclusion that wrapping brass strip around a pin, similar to your pie tin idea, would have given a much better mounting surface.
  11. OK ... got past a major stumbling block today and it's hell-bent-for-leather from now on! The windows were being stubborn and I tried 3 glues with no success . all the standard ones. Then Micro-Marks Liquid PSA proved to be the answer. There was no rush applying it as it stays tacky forever. I applied it around the window openings on the body and stuck the windows on. Done in less than an hour! Now it's just gluing the back door one last time and everything else will take no time. A last touch up with body paint and rust and I'M DONE!
  12. Thanks for the comments. Tom ... I'm definitely shooting to complete this for NNL East
  13. I got a large scale toy ... got tired of not getting up my driveway in the snow with the G37 rear wheel drive. This on is 4wd! And discovered there's even a kit of the Countryman!
  14. First, thanks for starting this thread and giving us all insight into this extremely interesting subject. And, thanks for posting that quoted statement! I'm an engineer and simple don't get what all these people are imagining when they talk about not scaling correctly. I believe they just don't understand a camera lens. Anyway, please keep us informed on your project.
  15. That engine is especially good looking!
  16. This is coming out well ... your experts have sent you in the right direction. A simple thought to consider .. a black and white photo has 256 shades of grey in it by most standards.
  17. Some models do have just painted clear pieces which can be removed in normal ways.
  18. Are those Mini wings on the front?
  19. This is a spectacular model, Harry! I have been following it all along and one thing that really disappoints me is how poor Pocher are fit wise.
  20. wow, Ira .. another one out of the park!
  21. The 8-lug wheels are resin by Ryan Silva who is a member here and sells on ebay, but Ryan's been missing for a month or two and no one seems to know whats happened to him. The tires are from Ma's Resin. They are listed as 50's truck tires or something close. I can find exactly whet they are if you want .. just pressed for time at the moment.
  22. Welcome to the forum. The first thing you learn here is how generous everyone is with their help and constructive comments to help you improve your building skills. And that can only be done with photos ... turn them loose!
  23. I hold small parts for painting with alligator clips epoxied to a length of sprue with a hook at the end for hanging. Sometimes a round toothpick works in a hole and either stick in a piece of foam or hold with alligator clip.
  24. That's not a bad looking little car at all.
