Did that make clean cuts without melting the plastic? I've seen other 40 Fords with Merc headlights and they look great. Will be looking to see how this progresses.

After all the pauses, this weekend is seeing some production! Tried a few methods to frame the tail lights in the rear and in the end just used some .01 strip to crudely form the openings. Was touch and go using micro dabs of CA and kicker as I worked it around the compound curves. I'm happy with the results and now for some putty!! Just need to cut the license plate opening in the rear bumper. Tail lights in place ... still tape cover for protection

There's not enough chopped Sedans in this world! A '40 Ford Sedan was my first real chop job back in '62. Can't believe you did this with a "hot butter knife" ... looks real good!

That's a beautiful looking engine! Not sure exactly what part on front of engine you mean, but a buzz saw that close would make me nervous. I'd bet the sprue cutters and some paint will camouflage it from everyone ... especially once it's in the car. Would have to be one of those deep dark recesses it's in.

I like the rake on it ... like there's some huge motor weighing down the front end. "pops the hood" OH MY .. there IS! Looks good in black.. especially with the removable HT on.

I need other things to fill the time when I NEED to break from the workbench in the basement ... like when I'm stuck or procrastinating. So it's been photography all my life and that's been flourishing in this digital age. I created 3D meshes for quite a time through the 90's when 3D Studio was released. I have friends that create 3D art using a program called Poser that has posable 3D human figures and, while I made my own attempts at creating "art", I mostly supported others by making 3D objects and textures for their REAL ART. I'm a fanatic for collecting 3D car meshes and probably have well over 600 different car meshes. I'm still looking for a '49 Merc!! This is not unlike scale modeling as most need work texturing and adjusting detail in 3D. Just to tease, here's a few of my recent 3D acquisitions ... I would love scale models of some these ... My fascination with 3D worlds began with the Ultima series where the world was created first and then a game written around it. Wandering around a 3D world and discovering it's nooks and crannies secreted away satisfies my sense of adventure. and I DO enjoy the fresh air!!!!!

I've just been over hugged with all these pics and can't decide WHAT I should comment on ... but that Caddy has been SO chopped, yet it looks right!

After much thought and fitting of various tubes, the hubs just fell together. The original wheels, after some grinding down to the Ford centers, fit perfectly into some 1/4" tubes fitted over the Taurus wheels and everything is tight and centered. As you see, this is a simple metal axle chassis and so it will remain for this simple build. Thanks again to everyone helping with their experiences with wheel fitting.
