Nice! I've long played with the idea of using the body of this kit on the full-detail chassis from the Revell '84 lowrider.
-
I can't take credit for the title- I lifted it from Jalopnik.

Thanks guys! The bar is two pieces- both molded in clear plastic. What you see in the pic is Bare Metal foil, and Tamiya clear red, clear blue, flat aluminum, and semigloss black. I've seen a few police Camaros, and all but a handful of them have the polished wheels. A few do have the black base model wheels, but more have the satin-finish aluminum wheels.

Just a quick little project- AMT's new '10 RS/SS Police kit. I used the second set of graphics instead of the "kinda/sorta" CHP graphics shown on the box, and I left off the flashers on the push bar. I still might detail paint the wheels, but for a few evenings of work, not too bad I dare say.

I like dioramas, '70's cars, and brunettes in halter tops... so do I have to tell you how cool I think this is? Awesome work!

Scratch built yard goat

Count me in as being interested as well- it would be nice to see somebody do a spotter model. I've seen very, very few of them. -
53' trailer for the fleet 90% done

Looks absolutely fantastic in black, especially with the plated wheels and front panel. Dig the actual reflective strips as well. -
Those look close enough to me- looks like I'll be sending Mr. and Mrs. Holthaus a few bucks here pretty shortly. A big thanks to Agent G (the original Wayne Gray), who sent along a couple of possible flasher candidates. The first one looks more like what's on the real car to me than the second (which is missing the base) but I'll gawk at the photos a bit and compare them to 1:1 before I drop the hammer either way. Yep... that first one looks quite a bit closer to me. Just add a little Tamiya clear red, and I think I'm there, eh? I couldn't find any interior shots of a late '90's MSP car, so I just used what was in the Ohio kit, less the rear seat partition. I still might do a bit more detail painting on the door panels. And I just could not resist adding the Dunkin Donuts box in the shotgun seat!

History of MPC's Fifth Generation El Camino Kits
Chuck Most replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
What Casey said. I have an old issue of SAE from 1991 which states the AMT/Ertl '86 SS version was a new offering for that year, obviously based on the former MPC annual, but all of the SS-specific pieces were added for that modified reissue. -
Best way to strip one? Small screwdriver, a good, sharp hobby blade, and a little bit of careful pulling and prying. On the one I'm working on, the only problem I had was the retiner screw for the dash snapping off when I tried to remove it- no big deal, just glue it back in. I did manage to break the firewall and steering column while removing the doors- I'd suggest getting those pieces out before removing hte doors if you have to do that.

A few years back there was a thread here about this- somebody had one of the 1:18 Hot Wheels diecasts (IIRC) which was literally falling apart. I can't seem to find that thread now...

This one might end up with an 8' Wood dump body, and if that happens, maybe some six-spoke cast IH wheels.
-
Lower it and throw some chrome wheels on it and you could replicate International's Lonestar D street rod concept truck from a few years back. If you were really brave, you could cut open the hood and make a Dmaxx 7 engine to stuff in there....
-
Oh, yeah... that'll do! Might have been a long time in the making, but I think it was worth the effort.

That's an improvement for sure. I have one of those '37 Studes but I'm a bit reluctant to tear into it, being it's still in mint condition. One of those mail-order nick-nack places sells a 1:24 Stude which appears to be a copy of the Danbury truck, or based on the same tooling.

Here's how the First Gear IH looks with those Liberty/Spec Cast Dodge artillery wheels and WWW tires- they look a bit too small for my tastes, but I'll leave it up to the rest of you to make your own call.

I'm irked by the fact that we no longer have "cold snaps". Nope, those are all gone now, and they've been replaced with the more-threatening sounding "Polar Vortex." You can stop coming up with scary euphemsms for silly little things any time, mass media. That is all.

Here's a shot of that so-so detailed chassis, for anyone who's curious. Don't bother going to the TSC in St.Johns, MI... I bought all four they had. They're also out of Maisto 2010 F-150s now, too.

Cop Car guys... Unity Spitfire "gumball"?
Chuck Most replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah- the random pattern is just plain choppy, I really wish they'd just make them all so they rotate, or at least look like they're rotating.
