  1. Tyrone! Thanks for answering my questions! I have a couple of oddball bodies lying around and may convert them to Outlaw or Pro Mod style builds. I have learned so much following your builds! Please keep them coming!!
  2. Really looking forward to those Pontiacs........any further update on a release date?
  3. Tyrone, I have been learning so much watching your builds....... After looking at your cage I was wondering, do you heat the evergreen up to bend it to shape? Also how do you keep your chassis so straight/symetrical?
  4. Thanks guys! Here are a few more pictures of my progress. The cage was pieced together from various sources: The blue pieces are from a wrecked Subaru rally car. The pink are from the Matt and Debbie Hays pro street T-Bird. The white pieces are Evergreen rod .100 diameter. The Evergreen rods are a little big but I think once everything is in primer it will look OK. Plus I am not opening the doors so they are going to be hard to see anyway. Here are the seats and the engine/transmission. The engine/bellhousing is from the US Army top fuel dragster. Tranny is from the '55 pro sportsman kit. Seats are from the Subaru Rally car. I have a really different idea for the paint on this one.....Depending on what I do for paint I may use these wheels and tires on the front. Thanks for looking
  5. I've read a bunch of threads by Tyrone and got inspired to pull this out of the box and get it on the bench. He had alot of good tips in his builds. I don't want a pro mod or outlaw as I wanted a carpeted interior and two seats. I started by putting the race car wing on the stock '58 body. I also opened the trunk. I used cage parts from various kits to get a decent pro-street style cage/frame I've got a good start. It's all been mocked up, the interior fits the body perfectly. This will have a blown and injected Hemi. It's actually only my third drag car. Thanks for looking!
  6. Jeff, Find yourself a dead on side view photograph of the El Camino and print it out. You know the wheelbase on the real car is 116 inches. The wheelbase on your model is going to be 1/25 of 116 or 4.64 inches. (116 / 25 = 4.64) Measure the wheelbase on your photograph. Let's say your wheelbase on your photo is 5.50 inches. Divide 4.64 by 5.5. This will give you a scale factor of 0.843636. Write 0.843636 on your photo. Now ANY measurement you take off the photo you multiply it by 0.843636. That will give you the measurement it should be on the model. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know......
  7. WOW! Lots of amazing builds in this thread. I finished 8 cars this year. Here they are in no particular order........ 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible. Modelhaus kit. 1975 Pontiac Firebird Pro-touring. Built with ALL scrap box parts 1972 Dodge Demon. Resin kit by Missing Link. VERY nice casting. 1970 Chrysler 300 R/T resin Kit from R&R. A nightmare to build...... 1994 Roadmaster Wagon. Another Modelhaus kit. 1970 Cutlass Convertible. Revell and Johan kitbash. And my favorite build EVER. 1972 Olds Vista Cruiser wagon. Scratchbuilt by me.
  8. Thanks for the info. I have been trying to track down a Super Pursuit Mode version but was reluctant to spend the money. Now that I know it's a nice kit I'll pick one up. Again super job on yours!!!
  9. They are the custom wheels and caps from the Monogram Pro-Modeler 1958 Corvette.
  10. I love the colors and I like how you chromed alot of the trim. Best looking example of that kit I've seen in a while.
  11. Very realistic! I love it!
  12. Very nice! How was the Aoshima kit to build up?
  13. Nice job!
  14. Very nice! Love the paint job!
  15. Here is a link to the album that shows how I built it: http://public.fotki.com/am73grand/oldsmobiles/1972-vista-cruiser/ Here is a list of kits needed to build one: 1 Johan 1970 Olds 442 2 Revell 1972 Olds convertibles 2 Revell 1966 Chevelle wagons 1 AMT 1969 El-camino
  16. Very cool. I always liked this color scheme on the Florida cars.
  17. Nice clean build!!! Very nice!!
  18. Thanks every one!!!!
  19. The color is Testors laqcuer "Flame Red". They are both plastic kits. The coupe is a Johan body with an AMT chassis and Revell hood and bumpers. The Wagon is also plastic, Made from parts of 6 different kits.
  20. Finally got this one wrapped up a few minutes ago. I made the body myself and stretched the chassis. I scratch built the door panels. It has some issues but I am pleased with the way it came out. With it's baby brother Thanks for looking!!!!
  21. Thanks Gregg, Was looking at the second and third I started for you.......I may try this again.......If I can pull it off I'm gonna get a hold of you. Dr. Olds. I know a 455 would be factory correct in Blue but seeing as how this car is a bit of a street machine, rather than bone stock, I figured Gold would stand out better against all the black under the hood. The last reason was because I love sleepers. If I built one of these in 1:1 I would try and hide the 455 any way I could. So I would paint the engine gold.
  22. Charlie, Thanks for the Invite! I have to be in work for 7 am. The MassCar meetings run a little late for me....Plus I am an hour away. I went to one meeting and had fun (I am a MASSCAR member) just too far and too late for me to get into work the next day. At some point I will build another one of these. It will be the shorter regular wagon though. This project really pushed the limits of my abilities as it is...lol.
  23. Austin, There will not be a resin kit of this. The Resin caster I lined up decided it wasn't good enough to be cast. They pointed out some valid errors. I tried to make another but I didn't make out well, so for now this is the only one.....
