opening a seized paint bottle
Nick Winter replied to Gcustoms's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It being acrylic what I have done in the past is fill your sink to just above the cap, place your bottle upside down and let in soak for a few minutes, then use a pair of pliers or what have you, you shouldn't have any problems, I've don it many times. Nick -
Got these two I guess Friday, they were sitting underneath my truck when I got home lastnight, bought these from a friend, both were sealed. Nick

It's a Snap Kit, if it's fine then why say that it was the worst model mistake you made. Nick -
Why Did I Buy This?

Whats wrong with the CV from Lindberg I built one and have 3 more to build, only thing I noticed as a flaw is the front wheels are not centered in the wheel wells. Nick -
Well my personal Opinion/ Experience, you usually purchase your lets say glue for more than one build, Hell I've got all kinds of different glues all purchased at different times and used on multiple builds, other supplies could be considered under the same thinking, so just how would you break down the cost of those said supplies? Nick Winter replied to Nick Winter's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Unfortunately Steve our schedule is every 3rd Wednesday of each month, A show however has never been talked about and might be worth considering. Nick -
Thanks Hugh and Jordan. Hugh, your very right, and with me replacing all kinds of parts on the 1:1 I also have seen things most wouldn't, Jordan, I'm lucky, not to many things I have to scratchbuild on this one. only things I can think of are Headrests, tonneau cover, Exhaust, A/C system, Portion of the Air Cleaner and a few mix detail items. June 30th is approaching quickly and though it's sad to say I don't think I'll be making the deadline with both of my entries, I managed to finish the Jeep, but my wrecker keeps dragging on, anyway, this is the stage it is at. I Plan to finish before the year is out, after all If I don't it'll be 3 years in the making. Nick

Thank you Luc and Jim, Anyway, progress in 1:1 and 1:25th 1:25th first: Did a loose mockup and finished off the tires, In september the 1:1 is getting a set of the Wranglers. 1:1, New Distributor cap & Rotor as well as Plug's and Wires. Reason why it was hard to start on damp or cold days. Distributor rotor was severely corroded Nick

I just can't detail anything!
Nick Winter replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Trial and Error and practice, that's the only way to get good at anything, I tried my first PE Mechanical Fan the other day, it was sort of hard and I had problems but it looks pretty darn good, Andy, Just Try, the worst you can do is make a mistake, the best you can do is surprise yourself. Nick -
These are from Pro-tech, Nice carbs are out their, For me it's the Belts and Pulleys and/or Intakes on most kits engine, the old Blob and 12" wide belt, Right now I'm replicating my truck and while the AMT 90 Chevy trucks were very well detailed for their time, that particular kit lacks quite a bit regarding the belts/pulleys, the kit includes an A/C Compressor on the Pulley's but no other A/C parts (Condenser, lines ETC), the Alternator is nothing more than a Chrome blob, and the Power steering looks nothing like the Power Steering pump you would find on the 305/350 in the real trucks, it also just a blob, yet in the kit they over detail other area's with super crisp engravings, to me that's just laziness. Rant over. Nick

Why Did I Buy This?
Nick Winter replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've had a few "I need this for a project" Impulses and then got home and either A. Forgot or B. already had one with the exact same idea in mind (and full of the parts needed) Nick -
