No Skip, I took the wheels out of the wrapper, popped them into the tires and put 'em on the model. In hindsight I think they're a little too bright and I think I should've sprayed them with some Dull Coat or aluminum or something like that to tone them down a bit. I don't have any experience with "hot" paints at all. I use Testors Model Master line almost exclusively. It works well for me so I see no need to use anything else..

I guess I'm in a British car mood lately. Here's the Tamiya Morgan 4/4 Straight out of the box, paint is just Testors Model Master Clear Gloss over the kit plastic.
  7. It's been quite a while since I've built anything. This past season was just about the busiest in my career with 48 race days from April to October. Seems I was on the road just about every weekend. Anyway, this is the James Hunt Mini from the movie "Rush". I'm sure some of you will notice a few minor details that aren't quite correct. It does lack the auxiliary driving lights because I haven't found anything suitable yet, and then there's the . . . well okay, it's really just the Tamiya kit built straight out of the box with some roundel decals on the doors. But hey, it got me back in the mood to build again and it was fun and easy. It's built form the Tamiya kit, as I mentioned, the paint is Testors Ford Engine Blue and Classic White. The interior is flat blue and gray. The decals are from an old Fred Cady GT-350 Mustang sheet. I made the registration number plates on the computer. I certainly wasn't going for contest quality, just having a little fun! Comments, critiques, and criticism welcomed!
  8. Oh yea, I forgot about that. Many years ago my wife and I went to a restaurant in the Mustang that had valet parking only. I said to the kid; "Look, if you park my car I'm going to give you a $1.00 tip, if you let me part it I'll give you ten bucks," No problem, I parked it myself.
  9. Not true at all. My Mustang is 12 years old and is over 100,000 miles and doesn't have a mark on it. Why, because I never park in with the everybody else, never ever. I'd rather walk from the far corner of the lot. (I need the exercise anyway!) Also, whenever I can, I park in the last space on right hand end of a row, as close to the line or curb as I can. 90% of the cars that park next to me will have only the driver which means opening the door on the other side from my car.
  10. I'd be like Jay Leno!
  11. I'm not much into cop cars (I've seen too many of 'em in my mirrors!) but I spent a lot of my youth in Pt. Pleasant, NJ and my sister lives in Brick to this day so your model caught my eye. Nice work, BTW.
  12. Type the following into a Google image search; "Kirk Jones + May Cause Dangerous" Exactly like that and you'll see plenty of photos. Also if you don't have it, search eBay for issue number 45 of The Rodder's Journal which contains a full feature of the car.
  13. Nice work, but that's '62 Dodge not '67.
  14. And a few more: And finally, my 100,000 + mile 2002 rag top:
  15. I have built a few Mustangs over the years:

Some places called them that up here too, Ray. And, eventually, they evolved into a more advanced type of Supermodified.
  17. That's pretty cool!
  18. It's all done now, check out the photos here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87952

Wrapped it up the other day. Resin body, scratch built wing, nerf bars, and hood, Monogram Super Modified chassis and engine. "On the Workbench" thread is here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87551 As always questions, comments, and critique are encouraged.
  20. Final mock-up before paint: The wheels are painted with Testors Model Master flat Insignia Red and don't look so pink in person. My little cheap camera has trouble with reds sometimes.
  21. I think I got away with it. The "fix" just might hold. How come those side nerf bars weren't that close to the tire during mock-up?
  22. Well, things have just slowed down. Had a minor set back. Wheels modified and adapted to fit, were painted, detailed, mounted on tires, all done. Mounting them on the car, the center broke out of one. If the fix doesn't hold I'll to start all over again with another wheel. Poop!
  23. Got some more work done over the last two days. I've decided not to wire the engine. It's set back so far that the body covers the back of it and plug wires would hardly show and this is a just for fun project anyway. I did add a brake and gas pedal inside which was also pretty much a waste of time 'cause you can't see much in there once the body is on. I made the hood from some .010" Evergreen sheet! How am I doin'?
  24. I think I read somewhere that it costs $100,000 to paint one of those things!
  25. Don't mean to disappoint you , Dale, but this one will have pavement tires!
