There may be a cap on images per post, but there's no cap on total images per thread. As Mike the Maniac noted, just add more to a new post, as they do at SAM. That's easier than before now that a topic reply box is ready to go at the bottom of the thread. And I agree with those who think the cap will reduce the problems where people want to quote pictures, and perhaps make people a bit more selective with the images they post.

I'd go with what the plating company recommends and call them about it. Here's part of the prepping process that Chrome Tech USA describes, that is somewhat relevant to your question: Painting and putty Not recommended. Not recommended, do so only if you must modify a part. If you must use putty then sand as mentioned above. For best results all areas that have putty should be sealed with a clear coat of lacquer or polyurethane. We recommend Tester #1961 clear lacquer. Please keep in mind that plating does not hide imperfections. It greatly highlights them. Any work must be perfect! More details here: http://www.chrometechusa.com/modelplate3.html

This is all a minor inconvenience when you see what those poor guys at the big-scale scalemotorcars.com are going through with their own server changes.

Black, Black , or Black...?
sjordan2 replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The examples I've seen of NATO black on models show that it's an excellent choice for things like seats, vinyl tops, etc., that would look unrealistically rich black in gloss, semigloss or flat versions. It's not flat and it's not semigloss. I can't find it locally. -
By the way, what color do you have in mind for the body? I vote for black.

I recall how reticent you were about this kit and the research you did looking into it. Having seen your prior builds, I know this will be the best ever done, and worthy of another Model Cars Magazine cover story for you.

Just before the server change, I suggested that deleting anything older than 5 years might be good to free up storage space. I still think that's a good idea, but one of our newer members keeps searching out older builds that are good to see again, and that draw admiring comments from members who haven't seen these builds before. If I were in charge of all this, I'd still delete anything older than 5 years. My opinion about that would change if this site had a halfway useful search function so people could look up wisdom from earlier threads, but it's still useless. What good does it do to keep all that information around if you can't find it? If you want to search pointers about something, go to scaleautomag.com.

Photobucket is not for your avatar. Go to your forum profile. You can upload an avatar from your desktop or other file that is 200x200 or less. Sign in, click on your name at the right top of the screen and you can change your avatar. -
Unless you're on Mac, which has not been supported by Internet Explorer for a few years.

Cool, Mike. I like seeing that gator picture again.

What has changed is for Photobucket to become easier to use, though that shouldn't affect the actual usage. You can still highlight, copy and paste. Earlier this year, they made it so that you didn't have to highlight the complete IMG code to copy it, you could just click on it. I don't know why that would make any difference. And Dave, why would the Word approach be any easier to use for multiple images? You can copy and paste image codes directly into your post rather than taking the Word step.
-
I have found that Photobucket can be quite slow in many ways, from signing in to uploading, etc. When clicking on the IMG Code, make sure that you see the word Copied appear in that field when you do so. You may have to do it twice.
-
Mike, that first one is a dream photo for a Tennessee Volunteer like me.
-
You can copy them in any order you want.
-
I agree. That's something I don't know how to do either. I just have to keep two windows open and go back and forth between the Photobucket window and the posting window.
-
I mostly agree with that. On the other hand, Word gives not only spelling prompts as this site does, but also questions grammar and usage, so it has certain minor advantages (for example, the spelling and grammar check correctly identified what's wrong with this sentence: Your being to literal.). The biggest disadvantage is that type styling in Word (boldface, italics, color, font size, etc.) doesn't translate when pasted here. But I don't understand why the MS Word process always worked for Dave before and doesn't now.
-
This post uses Dave’s technique, which was composed in MS Word using the Photobucket IMG tag and copied. I’m on Mac.
-
I can't see either of them, and Dave's link looks the same as mine. Yours has opening and closing parentheses, whereas they should be brackets.
-
Time to re-calibrate?
-
Nate, something must be wrong. The picture looks squashed.
-
Here's a shot from one of my Photobucket albums... I can see it. Can you? This was copied directly from the album.
-
Okay, I clicked on your first link, which took me to the Photobucket home page where they said "page not found." Same with the 2nd link, even after I signed in again.
-
I only see hot links, Dave. I'll click on them, then come back and see if they're in place on the board.

When I opened this thread, I got the words "Posted Image" but no picture where a picture should be. I waited because sometimes loading takes a minute. Nothing. I then clicked on the words and a pop-up picture of the truck appeared. I went to another thread, then came back and the picture is where it should be.
