Nicely done! Did you use tape to mask the wheel arches/trim? It's a bit more work, but well worth it.

Splash paints are really good! Just make sure to let them flash off between coats as they can be quite aggressive on the plastic, even with a primer base.

Is that the Meng kit? If you want a really lovely build experience, any of the newer Tamiya motorcycle kits are just lovely. -
Looking good! I also recently saw on FB that you can use beach sand as it is a finer grain (I guess you could also grind the salt?).

Sorry to hear this, was looking forward to your progress. One thing to be said for Tamiya, they do make it hard to build anything else (with few exceptions...).
