  1. Hey...your "what if" trio looks superb! Right along the lines of what Roth might have done, KUDOS!
  2. After making the decision to use Candy Apple Red over a Gold base (to get a very slight orange base hue) I am thinking it would be better just to leave the pink bubble top as is. I did however find that my local (if you can call 50 miles away local) HobbyLobby has those clear plastic christmas tree ornaments that you fill with assorted what-nots for about a buck. So next time I am there I will grab a few and experiment with em to see what works. I am definately gonna build a scratch-built bubble top in the future, so this will be a great experiment. I am currently waiting on some riffle files that I ordered from American Science and Surplus (only $5 a set) to get here so I can begin the body work around the base of the "wings".
  3. Thanks again! I love the way the chassis and motor came out and could use it for a scratch built bubble top if I get another kit...we'll see! Cheers!
  4. Thanks Raul! Glad to see there are lots of Roth fans out there. Also good to know I'm not the only one who thinks his kits are tricky at times. as for the reel to reel....well....it shows up better than an 8 track player, LOL!!
  5. Dude!! That Looks superb with the lowered half frame windscreen! Verrrry Coool I love the Gold paint as well...it gives Ed's ride a kind of Elegance that he kept just out of our reach! I wish I had the patience AND eyesight to do the plugwires. But when I build mine I will just be happy to not break any of the Billions of tiny chrome pieces! I will be referring to your work when I do mine up un a month or so.
  6. Here is the interior of the Road Agent (steering wheel/column mounts on underside of body) Although the instructions say the entire interior should be pink, from the few reference pics I got, only the carpet and fur like areas are pink. The vinyl is kind a pinkish brown, so I did my own take on it. The reel to reel player was tedious. And yes the battery mount looks stupid, it should have been a dropped post mount. I almost wanted to put it in the trunk next to the reel to reel, but there wasn't the clearance needed and I wanted to stay true to the original. Which brings me to this....PINK bubble top??? WTF?? The 1:1 was an ORANGE bubble top. I could probably dye it orange using some clear acrylic yellow paint and future...but hell why risk the whole kit?!? All the kits are Revell based. The Road Agent is Revell/Monogram, Beatnik Bandit was Revell/HotRod.
  7. Thanks again! I am getting ready to do the body work and have yet to decide on a color....was thinking a nice deep Candy Red...If I can find it at the local Hobby store (50 miles away, I live in the outback...well...it's Mississippi.....)
  8. Wow, nice chop! Looks great!!
  9. Welcome to the nut house...ummm .......forum! I just got here myself. There are a great bunch of folks on this forum and TONS of great info, tricks and helpful cohorts to keep you amused! Can't wait to see some of your work!
  10. Ok, Alright already!! ROAD AGENT!! Jeeeeez! I mess up on a simple title and they are all on my case about it...... I am doing all the Roth "Bubble Tops" ... Beatnik Bandit (complete) Road Agent (under construction) Mysterion (yet to build) Beatnik Bandit 2 (yet to purchase) and......the "Outlaw" show rod.( I know it's not a bubble top, but I already bought the kit !) Now if I can find a display case that will fit all 5 of these, I will be set up!
  11. Ok, new to the forum here, so be brutal if you must! Here is the finished chassis/engine assembly. I decided not to detail the fuel tank retainer bands and fuel cap due to the fact that about 95% of this will be hidden by the body assembly. I know, lazy but at least I striped the rear whitewalls. These Ed Roth kits are a bit of a challenge as you have to assemble the chassis and the mounting areas for the parts are pretty small. Lots of chrome scraping for glue retention. However I am pleased with it so far. Hate the fact that ya gotta glue on the wheels tho. Sorry about the title mixup....I got 4 Roth models to build all with strange names....(AND I'm an old fart!) Thanks Malibu!
  12. Thanks y'all! (fake southern accent, I am originally from Milwaukee, WI) I think that we all have toys in the attic, and they are all broken! LOL!
  13. OMG are they out of their minds? Five large for a freakin phone number? For that price they better be including Jenny!
  14. Ok, what's the deal here? I would love to know the difference between the colors of Testors Silver and Aluminum paint. I was thinking that the aluminum would be a flat silver???
  15. Thanks Sam! The one with the trailer....that would be The Silhouette ..... I decided to build it and the Beatnik Bandit because they were the very first Hot Wheels cars that I got for Christmas as a kid when the Hot Wheels line was introduced. Currently in the works is Ed Roth's Road Agent....... Glad to be among friends Sam!
  16. About 5 years ago I had a heart attack. While in the hospital, a buddy of mine gave me a vw New Beetle to build while recuperating. Then, after 4 1/2 years I decided to build the thing. Man I got the bug for sure! Went on the bay and bought up some Ed Roth kits (I always loved the bubble tops) and a few wheelstanders and I am hooked again! I was soo into this as a kid, remember building some of the kits that I bought again and am having a blast! There is soo much useful info on this forum and you all seem to have great tallent for building cars. I am humbled. Here are a few.
