  1. Very cool!
  2. Here's how I make black top. http://journals.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/how-i-make-roads/
  3. Yes, Patti is my wife. When my dioramas are finished they get put in a box and stuffed in a closet. I'm a little short on space and I also have 3 nosy cats. Hopefully one day I'll be able to put all my dioramas together and maybe throw down some railroad tracks.
  4. More pictures: http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/davetown/diner/ http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/davet...e-night-at-the/ Big car show in town too: http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/davet...ar--truck-show/ Thanks for looking!
  5. I took a bunch of pictures. http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/car-s...ot-rod-show-08/
  6. Thanks! It's HO scale.
  7. This is another section of "Davetown". Here's a link to more pictures and pictures I took during construction: http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/davet...street-buildin/
  8. I agree! The NNL was great. I'd say the best one yet. This show has come along way since the first one. I think the new location is a lot nicer too. Kind of a wild ride to get there with all the looping around, but thats NJ. The lighting was much better and the expanded vendor area was great. I had a nice time. Its always good to see my old (haha) friends. I'm looking forward to next year already.
  9. Here's more NNL East pictures. Some good.....some bad. I took pictures till my batteries died. http://public.fotki.com/DaveInTheHat/model...ts/nnleast2008/
  10. Craft stores and some fabric stores carry a wire that is covered in a cloth. It comes in different sizes. I've only seen it in black.
  11. I went to a new hobby shop. I picked up some Evergreen strips, plastic rod, glue and an HO scale diner.
  12. My bench isn't always this clean. I'm in a really small room, so I have 'stuff' squeezed in every where I can.
  13. I've been collecting bottle and can openers since the late '50s. I don't know how many I have anymore, last count was well over 1000. I collect old toys, mostly cars & trucks. Hot Wheels cars, flamingos, bendable people, tin cans, 1/43 & 1/42 scale model cars & trucks, metal windup submarines and a few other things.
  14. Some of the old Aurora kits from the '60's had some decent engines. A few Pyro kits had engines, but not many. Sometimes you can get them on Ebay for under $10. There's an Aurora 'T' bucket that has a pretty nice nail head. There are some 1/32 scale stock cars that came out a couple years ago that have engines in them too.
  15. I was planning on going, but stuff happened and I can't make it. I'm bummed about it, I was looking forward to seeing my "old" friends. Hopefully next time and sometime in between.
  16. Harrry. Randy has some good pictures here. Plus some great builds in his other albums. http://public.fotki.com/Fastplasticbldr/1_..._drag_and_show/
  17. I'm not positive but, I think the truck cab you're talking about was made from a resin. The original was made from a modified Monogram '40. You could probably use that cab and just replace the top part of the cab.
  18. My Metro doesn't really look like this. I chopped and lowered it in PhotoShop.
  19. That's pretty cool. I clicked the link at the bottom and checked out the other stuff on the site too. Thanks
  20. Here's a link to some high quality resin bodies and parts. http://tjscustomcastings.com/
  21. Its sort of a shame since there are guys out there producing top quality resin castings. Sort of reflects badly on the good guys. If the guy is trying to do business on ebay he should give a full refund. If not he should be reported to ebay. I'm sure after this his sales will drop. From the pictures he would probably do better selling them as 'junk yard' bodies.
  22. Darn, thats a shame. Maybe you could think of some way to use it in a diorama or something.
  23. It was a great day. I hadn't been to the NNL in a long time. Nice to spend some time with old and new friends. The quality of the models was outstanding. Hopefully next year the parking will be better.
