What were they thinking???!!!
Sixties Sam replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm thinking that if it had a hood with the engine under it (maybe just a scoop sticking out), it would be kinda cool in a tacky, campy way, sorta like pink plastic flamingoes in your front yard! -
Oops! I guess I should have moved this to the Under Glass area when it was done. Sorry.

full-fendered five window Revell deuce finished

A great rod, beautifully done! I think I can hear "Little Deuce Coupe" coming from its stereo! -
A lean, mean, green machine! Very nice. Great color for that car.

Hey from the new guy
Sixties Sam replied to Patrick Campbell's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome, Patrick. You'll find a wealth of skill and information on this board to help you build great models. I hope you'll post pics of the choppers when they're finished. Building with your kids is great! Sam -
Excellent! Nicely understated exterior, and incredible chassis & engine detail. Looks like you could get in it and drive away, peeling rubber all the way, of course! Sam
-
Wow! Great detail work! I even see a dipstick. The wallet headliner is really creative! Superb build! Sam

Ditto pretty much all of the above. I'm 60 years old and I set some boundaries as to how much detail I'm willing to attempt. I never used an airbrush or BMF. I use spray can paint and do trim with silver paint and a brush. Sometimes I don't paint every script and emblem. Better to leave it off than screw it up, I believe. Once in a while I wire an engine, but if it looks like too much trouble, I don't do it. My models look reasonably good and I enjoy them. And that's what any hobby is about! So build for yourself and ENJOY! Sam

25 Ford T Roadster - Cleaning Out The Garage.
Sixties Sam replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in Model Cars
Very cool rod, Dennis! I used the same concept when I built this woody. Parts box junk and some basswood! Sam -
That's beautiful! Nice work! I've seen some Honda tuners with way too gaudy paint and ridiculous giant wings. They're just not what I like to see, but this one is perfect! Great color and wheels, and not overdone. Great job! Sam Sorry if I offended any tuner guys. Just my personal preference.

Looks good so far! I like the subtle custom touches; wheels, seats, etc. That feature line running down the middle of the body kind of begs for a two tone color scheme. maybe candy red and silver for example. It will look good in any color(s)! Those old trucks are cool! Sam

Very cool car. Your model is going to be nice! I owned two real Valiants. Here's a pic of the model I built of the 1962 sedan I had. This model came from ebay, built but not painted. It's the Revell 4 door version. I also had a 64 Signet 200 convert with the 283 V8. Both cars had the push button automatics. I loved those! My Holy Grail is the AMT 64 Craftsman Series hardtop which I could make into a convertibleto duplicate the one I owned. I'm eager to see how yours turns out! Sam

A beautiful classic hot rod. Nice work! I guess the ground clearance on the real car would be equal to 25 toothpicks! Don't hit any dead skunks! Sam

Hey, guys, I found this Riv in a box away from all my other old models - forgot I had it. It was beat up and missing three of its wheels. I decided to give it a facelift. I built this model probably in 1966. Yeah, I'm OLD! I cleaned it up and gave it a coat of silver for a base for candy green. I'm adding a Continental kit which covers up the bullet taillights in the roll pan, so I moved them up near the trunk lid. I sprayed it with Testors candy green and gloss black. I masked off a panel on each side, then removed the tape after the 1st coat. The photos suck, but I'll have better ones when it's finished. It's kinda fun restoring an old model like this. I hope you'll like it when it's done. Sam UPDATE: It's done. It looks better than it did before, I think! Sam

Wow! Nice builds! I love the 65 Impala with the chain steering wheel. The 34 truck is cool, too! Great weathering jobs, too!
-
Now there's a car I haven't seen or even thought about for years! Very nice Merc! They were a little classier than the Torino's, in my opinion. Yours is beautiful. Great color! Sam
-
Another beauty! Great finish, and the subtle changes really add a lot of appeal! Love those MoPar's! Sam
-
Wow! That's a beauty! I haven't looked at slot cars in years (make that decades!). I never saw any that well finished and detailed. Very nice! Did you scratch build the chassis? Excellent work! Sam
-
It's hard to beat a classic '32 Ford rod! Excellent work! I like the blue in the interior. It makes a nice contrast to the gold. Sweet!
-
Wow! I love it! Good color choice, and the opened vent windows are a nice touch. I don't remember ever seeing that done on a model, but I'm old and don't remember lots of stuff! I see a trailer hitch. Will the truck have a trailer in your diorama? Sam
-
That's a beauty! I like the wheels and the color. I guess I'm nit-picking, but that's not a '69. That's the 1967-68 body style. I'm thinking it's a 1967. Correct me if I'm wrong. Sam

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I'm glad you like her. If cars can have a gender, this one is definitely a girl! Sam
-
Very clean and good looking! I like the color combo, and the painted bumpers are a nice touch. The wheels are just right too. Sam
-
Nice build, Chris! I like models like this - a good, clean, factory stock replica with attention to detail that really makes it stand out! The color is a good choice, too. Very well done! Sam

Those trucks look great, Nick! They look like they had hard lives earning someone's living. Great realism! Sam
