Recently found a very restorable built up '73 with an original box for thirteen bucks Also have a few of the recent reissues- debating getting the new one mainly for the decals (and add the birds separately) and can always use more '72-up Rallye wheels

I find them easy to make up

The AMT '66 442 convertible has a nice 4 barrel Olds with A/C- it's a 4 speed though The Revell comes with an auto trans option and the AMT '69 is stick shift but has a separate bellhousing that can be "blended" into a popular automatic

On the real cars the amount of overspray on the underside would vary from car to car Generally GM and Chrysler products from the early 50s on had the assembled bodies dipped in a tank of gray as the final step of washing/rust treatment then were sprayed by actual workers in the paint booths (as opposed to later robots)with varying amounts of overspray (as well as light areas of paint on the topside) Fords were said to have been given a coat underneath of reclaimed "waste" paint that was a mixture of several colors and resulted in a brown color Different vehicles also got different treatments as far as flat black paint and undercoat. In addition to factory undercoating it was also sold as a dealer option and applied afterwards with a much different "look" Because they were done by individual workers there isn't a real consistent "pattern"- the underside can vary from the dipped primer with a small amount of overspray to being almost completely painted underneath- some attempt at blacking out the wheelwells seems standard as well whether or not factory undercoating was ordered

Are you sure? (Not that it matters to me- looking for a builder) The orange looks just like my '72 MPC 'Runner When I was about 7 I "inherited" a box of unboxed kits- mostly '71 MPC annuals- had a red Impala,purple Challenger, yellow Vega, clear GTO- white seemed to actually be in the minority

It's from Reliable Resin- copied from the pricey MPC original, not sure how current of a product it is

Found an original '73 Road Runner project for less than a current issue Also $11 worth of resin body seconds that should work for a future project or two

I know red Corvettes are cliche-red on red even worse- building this one as a low option version of what many consider to be the low point of the Vette- a 1980 model with California emissions. In 1980 General Motors was no longer able to certify the L48 or L82 350 for California standards and rather than make modifications only offered the regular passenger car 305 (with stainless manifolds) with a lockup Turbo 350 automatic. Working on adding some engine details- mostly emission stuff like an AIR system, EGR, dipsticks, heater hoses and A/C lines but plan on keeping it fairly simple. Kit is the "Spoiler Vette" MPC 1/25 annual with the wheels and tires from an AMT '72

Made a rear spoiler out of some scraps lying around, sprayed the body with a light clear coat to seal the orange plastic then shot a first primer coat over the rough bodywork. Scrounged up a blower and the rest of the engine parts and found an even better set of deep slotted mags out of an AMT Avanti kit

Was trying something different with the T-tops- found an old pair of cheap sunglasses lying around and cut out a panel where the curvature seemed similar- not 100% fitted but may end up working. Might also pick up another pair with mirrored lenses at the dollar store for experimentation

Looks to be the ex-Monogram 1/24 '79 Z28 with an engine swap (or at least valve covers, intake and carb)

I can definitely feel inferior looking at others' work here but always try to remember to have fun Just try something new on a regular basis and there will be natural improvements- Besides I'd hate to build what I considered a "perfect" model- where's the motivation to keep doing it then

I guess being fortunate enough to have a 1:1 '70 Challenger R/T in the garage makes me that much more disappointed in the shortcomings of the Challenger kits available . Have the Vanishing Point kit from when it was first released but haven't assembled it- probably will end up robbing some parts though The Challenger R/T came with a 383 Magnum standard and the 440 Magnum (4 barrel), 440 Six Pack, and 426 Hemi optional. The 340 4 barrel was available in a package very similar to the R/T and the T/A, of course only came with the 340 Six Pack

Still deciding on what type of spoiler treatment to go with for the rear- made some very rough mockups rather than spending a lot of time - neither of the masking tape spoilers would probably quite so tall in plastic. First one is an extra MPC '71 Roadrunner part reshaped to match the supports of a Revell Daytona but was afraid it might be too "Joe Dirt" What do you think?

Building a 70s era street machine for another forum community project and using up a bunch of parts I had lying around in a none-too serious build without going into too much detail Theme is a '69 Charger 500 bought for cheap off the used car lot around '74 during the gas crunch and treated to some custom body work and paint as well as a big blower and chrome accessories, big tires and slotted mags Thinking of two (or more) tone paint featuring some big flake gold and "cranberry" (purplish maroon metallic) Duplicolor. Anyone have a source for small scale lace? Kit is a AMT release General Lee I hadn't planned on building and it's always fun to raid the parts box Who knew tacky could be so much fun? The start.....

Pretty much has the parts to build the style on the box with SLS trim and has a 92-95 style 4.3 Vortec with a 4L60E automatic, does have an extra set of factory "5- spoke" style 2WD S10 wheels with bow tie centercaps Has a separate frame and the interior builds up from a platform

Built this Revell '69 Dart in dark green Duplicolor a while back- for the factory original folks here.........
