  1. Here are a few mock-ups of some of the painted parts:
  2. This is not going to be a super-detailed build, but I'm just going to do it as clean as I can. The only things I'll be adding is a new pre-wired distributor and maybe some battery cables, and a Pro Tech air cleaner to match the real car. I started with some painting. Got the Semi-Gloss black parts painted. The real car has overspray on the bottom of the chassis, so I gave this chassis the same treatment. Here are a few pics of the real underside.I think I'm going to lay some more body paint down on the chassis and will for sure be weathering it.
  3. I'm taking a short break from my long term projects to knock out a quick build for Christmas. I found this 1964 1/2 Mustang kit on clearance at Michael's for less that 10 bucks, and since my wife's sister and her husband have this car, I thought it would make a fun gift for Christmas. Here's the kit. Here are some pictures of the actual car:
4. Tim, Tim, Tim... Stunning. Thanks for all the lessons! Can I ask, what did you use for the steering wheel wires? More sharing options
  5. Thanks for the compliments, Tim! That tape seems to be a bit hard to find, but maybe you can find something similar that's suitable.
  6. Coolest thread out here!
  7. Thanks, Fabrizio!
  8. Thanks, my friend! Always glad to have you looking in.
  9. Thank you, Niko!
  10. Very nice T's!
  11. Nice job, Greg!
  12. Thanks! I'm just getting started with the lathe. I don't know much yet, but it is a whole new world and really opens up possibilities. Hopefully Santa will be good to you!
  13. Hey Rom! Man, I'm glad you looked in too. It's been a while since we've seen you around. Hope all is well!
  14. Thanks for the comments, guys. I managed to get a little more bench time in lately. I added a Pro Tech Mallory coil, and made a decal for it. Used some Pro Tech detail wire and photo etch nuts to detail it up a little. I also got the headers in and used some Detail master flanges and more Pro Tech nuts to detail those as well, along with some guitar string springs for the exhaust brackets. I made a new sway bar and some rods to connect to the uprights. I'm getting closer to getting this thing on wheels!
  15. Thanks, Johnny! Man, these days I can't get by without my optivisor! LOL
  16. Brother Joe, thanks so much for the comment! I always enjoy your posts on all threads. Oh, and I happen to think you're a great builder too. Love the stuff you're doing now. ;-)
  17. Tim, Thanks for looking and your nice comments. I really appreciate it. I never mind sharing any technique on this board, since I have personally learned so much from here. With what I have learned just from your builds alone, I owe you a few! John Teresi, a true mentor to me, gave me some really cool data circuit tape a few years back to do some pinstriping. But it also works great for zip ties, etc. I have two thicknesses, and I use the thinner, but I don't recall what the actual thickness is. Being that the other is .040, it's less than that! Here's a pic of the tape: I was just rolling it around, but I found I had trouble with the stick glue would come undone and it was awkward to try to glue it. So now I just stick it to itself, trim it, then glue the tab down. Here's my best effort at a Ken Hamilton-esque drawing, which should be self explanatory.
