  1. Great, Joe! Glad to see you plan to use some of Charlie's good stuff on this one. You know where you can get more! Sounds like you've got some surgery ahead on this one...
  2. Tim, Thanks so much for the call out. I'm getting a little done on the F5000 in the Workbench section. I'm starting to get some color on it, which is why I wanted to do it in the first place. I thought I would get to that point a lot sooner, though! Once it's done, back to the midget... And... this work is continuing to amaze. What is lost in the pics is just how small this really is. I hope to see this build in person some day, then it will really hit home how incredible this build is. Plus I realyl appreciate the lessons we all can get from this WIP. -Art
  3. Spectacular work, Cesar!
  4. Thanks, Mike. More updates soon...
  5. Great stuff, Curt! I've seen that car (and Tony A-Z) a few times at the Riverside International Automotive Museum, and your replica is fantastic.
  6. Neat project, Joe! I love how you staged it in the beginning here.
  7. Great start John! You are moving fast on this one. Glad to see you back at the bench.
  8. Finally, I'm starting to get some color on this thing. Because the motor, trans, and manifold are all molded as one piece, I'm using Bob Downie's silly putty trick to do the masking after I hit the block with Chevy Engine Red. Here's one of my reference images.
  9. Tim. This is continuing to be nothing short of fantastic. it's a treat every time I check in on this thread. Art
  10. That's Sweet!. Nice job.
  11. Sorry to hear, Pete. Hope you're doing OK now. Maybe we can carpool to some events until you get things sorted out.
  12. Thank you guys! Spent a bunch more time getting this thing mocked up and everything fitting. The kit provides some styrene rod for the rear radius rods, but I elected to use Piano wire instead. I tried to mock up the front end as is, but it just wasn't working. The parts were just moving around too much, so I pinned the A-arms with wire. I also pinned the front wings. The kit doesn't come with side plates for the rear wing, just a sheet of styrene. I printed a pic that has the correct shape for version I'm building and the pic just happened to print almost the exact same size. So I cut out the end plate and used it as a template. I glued the paper patter and two sheets of styrene together and cut them out together. Then I pinned them as well and attached them permanently.
  13. Wish I was posting an update, as it's been way too long, but for those of you in Indiana, this car is actually making it's racing return tomorrow night. My brother is getting it back together to run the Tony Stewart Midget Classic at the Indianapolis Speedrome. If you're in Indy, check it out!
  14. Killer work, Cesar!
  15. Nice build!
  16. Thanks, Johnny! It was definitely harder than it looks, at least in brass, for me... Well, Chris, that's why I continued to finish it. I almost threw in the towel and went to styrene, but I knew if I finished it in brass, I'd be better for it.
  17. Tim, You continue to amaze me with your work. Incredible! Art
  18. Fabrizio, that's hilarious, and well-done! -Art
  19. Shaun, Thanks for looking and the suggestion. While you are correct in that the uprights are in reality hollow, the fact is that the only visible sign of that is a hole on the backside which is obscured by the tire and wheel. I considered it though, until I revisited the references... Art
  20. Thank you all for looking! I stalled a little on this because I needed to do some fab, but I am back at it. The exhaust pipes don't have a support bracket in the kit, so I decided to make my own. I did it in brass because I thought it would be stronger, but I could have done it in styrene in a tenth of the time. I struggled with it for a couple of days, thinking about it many hours and several do-overs! All for a simple part... I also re-bent the headers so they came out more to the side rather than down to match the references I had, but I broke one of the white metal pipes, so I decided to replace the pipe with aluminum tube. It's a little rounder than the original casting and might help save weight on the model which will help save wear and tear when travelling. This sucker is going to be heavy!
