  1. Luis, thanks for the reference. I'm pretty sure I've seen your build at a show here in So Cal before. Great car. Thanks for looking, Curt! You're right, I have some artistic license, and I'll take it. Hopefully no one will criticize! John, Chris, glad to have more of my friends following along. It will motivate me to keep going! Nice builds, Jesse. I like this version, but I like the one you have there too. It's a little more like you would find in SCCA.
  2. Looks good, John! I really like the contrast between the weathered pieces and the body. It looks very realistic.
  3. Looks great, Curt!
  4. Nice version there, Mitchell! Thanks for sharing. -Art
  5. Since there are absolutely no references on the internet for this car, I am mostly following the color coding on the instruction sheet. I'll make a few exceptions here and there. The instructions called out body color in a few spots, like under the wheel wells. Not sure i agree with that, but I'm going with it anyway.
  6. Yep! Thanks for the comments, guys. I appreciate you all looking in. I got just a little more bodywork in this weekend. the instructions provided a full scale template to locate it, so I made a masking tape template I could transfer to the body to mark the hole.
  7. After finishing a long-term project, I wanted to build something that won't take quite so long. I always liked this era of road racers and this little Celica looked like a pretty neat kit. So I thought it would be a fun choice for a box stock build that wouldn't take too long. But... as soon as I started on it, it became apparent that it may not be as quick as I had thought. This is likely a version of a stock Celica kit, so it turns out there is a lot of hole-filling and a few other mods needed to the body on this one. I got started anyway... Thanks for looking!
  8. So about a month ago, my father-in-law tells me a friend of his has some brass and aluminum metal I might be able to use for my modeling. I'm thinking it's probably some scrap stuff, but I'm interested to see what it is, so he has his friend brings it to his house for me. I wasn't able to get over to his house to pick it up until today, and when I get there, to my utter surprise, I see this! Are you kidding me? This is awesome! Time for some scratchbuilding!
  9. This is neat. I always wondered what the Fisher kits were like. Nice work, Mark.
  10. Really nice work!
  11. Strangely enough, I have some too. When I was a kid the Summer of 1980 we went to Portland to race in the 1/4 midget nationals and the stuff was everywhere. Me and my sister shoved some in a jar that I still have today. Now if I ever get my mill working, I just may have to try this trick!
  12. I'm surprised to see how ill-fitting this kit is. That Provence Moulage I got from MCM was so nice. I know you'll do this one justice, though. It looks great so far!
  13. Glad to see you're back at it Chas. Nice progress!
  14. Looks spectacular, Johnny! Your weathering just keeps getting better in my opinion.
  15. Good stuff!
  16. Fantastic, my friend! How fun it is to see it come alive.
  17. Wow, Anne, impressive creativity! (and execution). You're like MacGyver!
  18. Killer work, Chris. That would be great to see and this build out here in October. Keep on workin'!
  19. Wow, that interior is very cool. I'm always amazed how you implement obscure items in your builds. Great stuff, John!
  20. Nice work, Johnny! Love watching this come together! -Art
  21. Cool, Dave! I've got one of those on my build list, but it might be a while. Yours looks great.
