  1. This looks great, Anne! Did the stock car get shelved?
  2. Looking great, Alyn! Congratulations on the award. This one definitely belonged on the tables. Outstanding details!
  3. This will be a cool one, Johnny! I'll be watching...
  4. It was pretty good sized class at the last event, as GSL is in Salt Lake, close to Bonneville after all, but I had the only entry with a Long John Dragster this year. Since I was the only entry, and the Long John was mostly a drag car anyway (with some Land Speed History), I had the judges move it.
  5. Looking good, Dave! -Art
  6. That resin and fiberglass might even give the bottom a very realistic look when it's painted up too. Nice work, Mark.
  7. Andrew, You've done spectacular work for a person of any age. Congratulations on your awards! You certainly deserve them and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future. Art Laski
  8. I couldn't agree more. Thanks, Bill, for talking me through those wheels. Incredible stuff...
  9. Thanks, Alyn, for the comment on the 'vette. Congrats on placing with the T Tow Truck! Great to see you again, and I really enjoyed talking to your dad as well. Neat guy. Bill, it was absolutely great to meet you and congratulations on the win in Replica class with the Keeling and Clayton car. Very well deserved! Here are some pics I took, Sorry for the blurry ones. http://public.fotki.com/alaski48/gsl-xxiv/
  10. Sounds like a plan!
  11. Welcome, Mark! I've tried a few things, including oven cleaner to remove chrome, but my preference if Super Clean. it's the purple cleaner you can get at auto parts stores. It strips enamel paints really well also. I've got a Willys WIP going too that I'm going to pick back up again soon, I had to put it on ice to get another project done, but I'm eager to get back to it. Here's the link if you're interested. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63751&hl=%2Bwillys+%2Bhalibrand Also, you might want to consider checking out some shows and seeing some builds in person. You can really learn a lot from meeting other builders in person and seeing their work firsthand. Best of luck on this, Can't wait to see you get rolling! -Art
  12. John, Beautiful job on both of those! The last pictures of you taking the pictures actually put things into perspective. I tend to lose sight looking at the quality that these are actually small models, Art
  13. I love the meticulous approach to the details on this one, Bill. Nice work. -Art
  14. Congrats, Brad! This is definitely a fine piece of work. Wish I could have seen it. -Art
  15. If you look at the way a model contest is supposed to be judged, the first thing that comes into consideration is the build quality, e.g. no glue marks, no paint blemishes, etc. Accurracy and details come after that. So I think it is also a matter of averages that the "shiny" builds have also had more attention paid to the other areas of build quality as well. So it stands to reason that a majority of the shiny builds are mostly the winners after the less shiny cars are eliminated for other reasons besides the accurancy of the sheen and the additional details.
  16. Stance looks spot-on, Chris! You almost have the "kit" done, now build it!
  17. It's a popular stop in Salt Lake while at the GSL. It's good, just don't tell your cardiologist! Fantastic work, Mark!
  18. Pretty trippy, Ira. Nice job!
