Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Robyn replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Ed Sexton in a way did - check the top of page two, someone emailed Revell and Ed replied to them. Robyn -
Since there seems to be a bunch of crickets in the room and I do not know the answer I can help point you in the right way. If you are not aware there is a site mostly dedicated to NASCAR models Randy Ayers Nascar Forum. The forum is very helpful when it comes to finding answers such as the questions you have asked and there are many Gordon fans over there as well and I know you can get the answers you are looking for there. Good luck, Robyn

Does anyone have any advice for cleaning Hobby Design resins? I have not tried anything and there is nothing that came with the various aftermarket pieces that I have bought and before going the bleach white and scrub with dawn just thought I would ask. TIA, Robyn

Mitch - it is my understanding from others on this forum and others that if you do not apply the Tamiya color coats/clear coats within the 20 minute flash time that you should wait at least 30 days for the paint to completely gas out before a light sanding and reshooting your color/clear coats. Sorry for the bad news and I have no experience with this myself as I usually do all of my painting in one setting. Robyn

I have many older NASCAR builds from the past 20 years and have noticed on some that the decals are starting to chip in spots, mostly where solvset was used to help them snuggle down in nooks and crannies. When originally built I did not clear them with anything as I did not think about having problems in the future. Now I want to try and protect these from any further damage. After doing some research it appears that Nason 2k Urethane may be the way to go as it was mentioned on another board (I did ask about this there but did not get any responses as it was a the bottom of a previous post) but need to know if it will attack the decals. I understand that there is always that risk with anything but if I know it is too hot from the beginning then I know to move onto something else. Because they are already built spot test is not really an option. For most of these I have a second set of decals that I can use to fix the problem areas but do not have any of the paint left (most were painted with Metro and Testors Racing Colors) for a true test and only having one set of decals, if I fix the spots that are bad then I don't have another set to redo the car if necessary. I know many will say to use Future but I have tried it in the past and was not satisfied with the results. I am also not 100% positive about it yellowing, you hear many say I thas not yellowed on them and they have 20 year old builds and others say it yellowed on them after a year or two and most of my builds have white on them. I am really at a loss on where to go from here and think automotive clear is the way to go as it should not yellow over time and will also offer the protection that I need. I have spoken with several of the local paint shops and they do not offer any real advice since this is out of their subject realm and most said the cannot sell to me as I am not in the industry, while I can get Nason shipped to me from an online source. Thanks for any help or advice, Robyn

Also Historic Racing Miniatures does one in resin if they are still around (evidently way behind on orders according to one site I just looked at). I got one many years ago at a show and it is a very nice 427 big block Ford and if memory servers me it is designed to fit the Fujimi kit. The transkit I have includes the suspension as well. Robyn

Dodge & Plymouth A12 steel wheels
Robyn replied to Robyn's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I am looking for 1/24 to fit the Revell 69 Super Bee. Robyn -
Does anyone know of a source for these wheels? I know someone used to make them but I cannot find the information I had saved. I know several people did but are now out of production, I am looking for someone that is still making them. For those that do not know these are the steel wheels that were used on the 69 Super Bee and Road Runner 440+6 cars from the factory. Thanks, Robyn

Pace spray booths on sale?
Robyn replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wanted the big one but just did not have a place to put it, I got the Super Mini and so far it has been big enough. I have a few 1/16 scale kits to build in the future and I am not sure how those will work but time will tell. Robyn -
Pace spray booths on sale?
Robyn replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harry, I watched them for almost a year waiting and they never did go on special. When I started he was charging shipping, when that changed I decided to pull the trigger, saved between $50-$100. Got mine over the summer and absolutely love it. Robyn -
97 Ranger extended cab
Robyn replied to James Flowers's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Someone did a 93-95, I have one at the house (not for sale or trade though) not sure who did it but it is a good clean casting. I can take some pictures and post if you would like to see them. I cannot recall any real differences between 93-95 & 97. Robyn -
I know Castrol Super Clean (purple power same thing) will completely strip it to bare plastic. I also think 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and bleach will do the same but I have not tried either of them myself. I also think Easy-Off oven cleaner works as well but again I have not tried that myself. Robyn

That is very cool. I have the same kit and resin header panel to build my first car. Now I need to decide whether to build it the way it was or the way I wanted it to end up. Very cool build, Robyn

I also use it to hold small parts on either scrap sprue or tooth picks for painting. Once you have the part painted you can kneed the putty and the paint pops off so it can be used over and over. Obviously you place this in a location that will not be seen on the finished part. Robyn

John - thanks that is what I needed to know. Robyn

John - is there any way you can get a picture of the Police specific quipment? We have a few local police Magnums running around and I have been toying with the idea of replicating one. I have considered buying the Impala but did not want to buy it if the equipment was very minimal. I just wanted to compliment you on all of your builds as you are one of the premier builders in our hobby. Thanks, Robyn

Hiroboy Paints....

I have ordered from them without any problems and plan on ordering a lot more unless Leon with Cobra Colors returns. I have not used the paint yet but was impressed with the service. Robyn -
Corvair Wheelstander for the Birmingham Classic
Robyn replied to TimKustom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Tim, Outstanding build!!! It is so cool that my wife asked me to step aside so she could get a better look - and she usually does not have much interest. I hope to see it in person in either Bham or hopefully you will bring it to the Southern Nationals in November. Again beutiful and well executed build. Robyn -
How many kits were in this series? I can think of 5 - Ramcharger, GMC pickup, Ranger F150, Camaro 4x4 and the Chevelle 4x4 - were there any others? Have any of these been reissued? Were the raised suspensions and Ground Hawg tires the only parts that made them High Rollers? These were the first kits I build as a boy with my dad and I am trying to find them all with out spending a fortune. Thanks for any insight you may provide, Robyn

Cobra Colors has closed!
Robyn replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was going to place an order last night and decided to wait until this morning and do it from work, a lot faster connection. When I went on I found out it was closed and am regretting not ordering the paint last week like I first intended to do. Leon was great to deal with and the turn around time was phenominal, there are few with his dedication to the customer. Does anyone know where to get some Ferrari and Lamborgini paint? I have about 10 kits that I need factory type paint for from foreign car makers. I wish Leon the best of luck and hope that he can and will return. Robyn
