  1. Thanks guys for all of the orders and kind words. Some folks have already received their wheels sets and all others pending are shipping tomorrow. Tom, the backs are flat. Since there is "selling" here if anyone needs further info please send me a PM. I should be adding another new wheel center next week as well. Thanks ya'll Mike
  2. Beautiful work Harry!
  3. Chris sent you PM. Thanks Kerry, thanks Fred! I'll just say publicly to my friends in the "north" (Canada lol) if any of you have issues with eBay because of my account preferences please PM me here and we can arrange something outside of eBay (like always). Thanks fellas.
  4. Thanks Jeff! They are available now in limited number. I have been selling my spare resin on eBay mostly as I no longer take specific orders unless its something I'm currently working on or can handle doing between my own projects. What I have made currently is listed on eBay now, some have sold already but I do have some in all styles ready to ship. I will also have more made up within the next week or so. I made these for my own projects and have plenty for myself so I decided to sell the spares. They come complete with new Tamiya tire pack, aluminum sleeves (hand polished inner surfaces), and resin wheel inserts. Here is a set mocked up- Some info on the aluminum sleeves- FRONT (.411 wide) = In 1/24 [9.86 wide], in 1/25 [10.2 wide] REAR (.491 wide) = In 1/24 [11.78 wide], in 1/25 [12.2 wide] DIAMETER of each (.914) = In 1/24 [21.9 inch], in 1/25 [22.85 inch]
  5. Hi Tommy - thanks, yes each comes with brand new Tamiya tire pack.
  6. A little something I've been working on. New Tamiya tires, aluminum sleeves with hand polished interior surfaces, resin cast wheel centers. Scale out to 22's in 1/24 and 23's in 1/25. Fronts are 2 scale inches narrower than rears. Aluminum sleeves are reversible to change the offset of the resin wheel centers (wide or normal lip). **edited to add name for each set** Z06 split 5 spoke Sportec Mono 10 "modern" 5 Spoke Mag GT Split 5 spoke Nismo 5 spoke GT3 10 spoke
  7. Thanks for the info! They look fantastic the way you configured them.
  8. Jeff looks great. Are those the standard Pegasus tires or something else?
  9. Been using Smooth On Mold Max 14NV for the past couple months and its been fantastic so far. I used Alumilite HS 2 for a few years with great results also but the 14NV is a bit more cost effective and has been wonderful to work with so far.
  10. Empi, those engines are really awesome. Nice job!
  11. Mark, progress is looking fantastic. Thanks for keeping us inspired. Amazing work!
  12. What happened? My 1/4 brain doesn't quite understand what just happened. This was more enjoyable when we all had to agree with ACE's opinion and if we had our own it wasn't valid because it wasn't his. I also really enjoy having a cyber bully know-it-all on a model car forum. This is why people leave this place and never return. The funny part of all of this? Harry didn't say anything that anyone else didn't say. BUT now its "okay" with the ACE. LOL. A bunch of folks said the so-called "rats" were built as rolling art pieces, form over functionality. Harry says this "Today's rat rods, on the other hand, are not necessarily built to go fast. Or go at all. They are built to look at. The intent isn't to create a fast car on the cheap, the intent is to create a visual statement." And ..... now its okay. I better agree or I'll get attacked again for making sense. Vintage drag cars are SAFE! Rat Rods are NOT! I got it now. Harry is there a block button on this forum? Please show me where it is. Harry, found it! Officially BLOCKED. So happy now!
  13. I love the pictures, but to say these things were "safe" and that they "went straight, start, stop, blah blah blah" is complete nonsense. Anyone with half a brain knows the early days of drag racing was plagued with problems, crashes, explosions, parts falling off, etc, etc, etc. The first few pictures are all it takes to see that lol. Since the point is still being missed, "rats" are not purpose built for any type of "motorsports" competition .. they are more a rolling scultpure of the builders imagination (like any custom). The cars in the link you provided sure look cool, but still crash, explode, wheelie out of control, jump off the ground, etc, etc, etc, and THEY ARE PURPOSE BUILT with "safety in mind." lolololololololololololol. Great pics though! Thanks!
  14. Looks great. Nice weathering and photos!
  15. And that's why your entitled to your own opinion lol. You clearly do not understand why some guys and big shops choose to build them this way. It has nothing to do with incompetence, laziness, or mechanical ignorance. You don't get it and you don't like it. That's okay "Ace." What a boring place this land would be if we all had to follow the "rule book" and do things, build things, and express ourselves within the "guidelines" someone else set forth for us all to follow. And banging on a guitar to some is considered music, just maybe not to you. That's also okay.
  16. All of the whitewalls I have from Modelhaus have separate white inserts.
  17. You guys are sorely mistaken and might I add entitled to your own opinion. I never said they were safe, road worthy, would pass "tech inspection," or that I'd enjoy sharing the road with one lol. That's not why cars like this are being built "on purpose" this way. One of these,"shoddy welds" and all is the extreme opposite of cars on the other side of the spectrum (also built on purpose/intentionally) that have full chrome/gold plated everything, hand cut tires, engines so expensive they've never been run, interiors with $50,000 worth of leather, paint so perfect and so expensive that your not allowed to look at it for more than 30 seconds at a time, and a build price north of $1million. This thread was about whether the so called rat rod "fad" was over, not to debate how some of the more extreme examples were constructed ON PURPOSE. Extreme examples of any type of themed or labeled hot rod, muscle car, street rod, low rider, pro touring car, and yes EVEN rat rods, etc are fairly common, especially on the auto show circuit. They are not for everyone and may not appeal to everyones tastes. They are also not always built with safety and function in mind. Is this a new revalation in the automotive world to car enthusiasts? I think not. Hot rodding ANY type or kind of car is an extremely personal endeavor for the owner/builder and dare I say again is done on purpose because they WANTED it that way? It is extremely closed minded to think one can build a safe, "tech inspection worthy" car on purpose but not build a roaring beast of hodge-podged junk death trap with shoddy welds for the same reason. You just may not "like" what the builder did or like how they did it. That's okay lol. Building these things (the so called rat rod), especially the more extreme examples aren't about competing for the best craftsmanship or finest welds lol. It's about being different, making a statement, bucking the trend, causing controversy (clearly lol). They could care less if master mechanics, master welders, and tech inspectors approve. That's the whole point! AND why builders of these things keep pushing the envelope of these often monstrous death machines. If you still think that these things are not built in the way that they are on purpose I'd suggest stepping away from your frame jig, welder, and inspection rule book and talk to an owner / builder of one of them and ask them some questions. You'll find they are just normal hot rodders with a taste for something different. You may not like their creation, or agree how it was constructed but they like it that way. Comparing shoddy model cars to this = fail. Masterful builders like Dr. Cranky make some of their creations look like they can survive or have already been through a bomb blast INTENTIONALLY. Just like guys doing 1:1 examples are doing (lightbulb on here). Shoddy model car building as you describe is simply shoddy model car building = NOT intentional.
  18. It may be "shoddy" but in many cases intentionally done to achieve a certain look the builder / owner was going for. Not sure why someone's "shoddy" craftsmanship (done in many cases intentionally) would bother an on-looker? Its like anything else, everyone has their own style/interest/taste/vision. You dont like it, you dont like it. Move on. I myself do not like "traditional" boring muscle cars with 15 inch wheels. I'm sure the builders/owners of these so called "rat rods" could care less what some on-lookers think about their welding.
  19. Wow those are amazing. Will be ordering this weekend.
  20. I haven't read this whole thread, but IMO "rad rods" have always been there from the early days and will continue to be around. Its just that one day someone decided to "label" them "rat rods" when they've just been traditional hot rods all along in one phase of completion or another. Sure some folks have taken the "rat" theme to new levels of grunge (love it or hate it) but its all just "hot rodding" to me with or without the label. Not everyones ride is shiney and pristine regardless of whether its a muscle car, a classic, or a 32 Ford. Could care less about the "label" they were given. Everyone has their own opinion about cars, style, and "hot rodding," so understandable the "unfinished" look is not for everyone nor is $1million dollar trailor queens. One thing is certain, we all love cars in some form or another.
  21. Thats awesome! Nice job as usual.
  22. I do not visit this part of the forum very often but I think I should start coming in here more after seeing this. Ron, awesome job! I love the look and the wheels are perfect. Nice job!
  23. Thats looking real good Fred. Nice job man.
