  3. Jeff, this build looks great so far. Engine detailing is superb! I'm diggin the stance also, looks mean. I saved your engine photos for future reference lol ... Great job man!
  4. Mark that is a slick looking interior! Is that embossing powder you used for the carpet? It looks great.
  5. Guys, I contacted Dupli Color for the real reason ... ==quote== We've come out with a new touch-up product that will be replacing the current 5 oz and 11 oz aerosols we have. The new product (called Perfect Match) will have a different numbering system and will be available in one size, an 8 oz aerosol can. Thank you again for your inquiry. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Sincerely, Eric Dupli-Color Product Support ==end quote==
  6. Dec ... cool project, check your PM. And .. there is always room for a turbocharger lol ...

    Mustang GT500

Thanks guys for the kind words. The kit is the Jada 1/24 scale GT500. The build up pics can be found here ... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28271 The engine is the kit supplied engine. Paint is Dupli Color rubbed out with 6 applications of Scratch X. Wheels/brakes are Mr. Model 21 inch pieces. Next up on the bench are a few items. A 1970 1/2 Camaro Pro Touring quick build, my Nissan GTR drag car which will be in the drag forum under "Import build off," and also a very special Dodge L700 which will haul way more than cargo lol ...

  11. Hi folks, I finished up the GT500 last night. Its hard to believe that it started out life as a Jada kit lol .. But overall I'm pretty pleased with the finished build. There are some minor fitment problems, so I'm glad I had a spare kit for test fitting and mock up's along the way. Nevertheless, I'm a fan of the Jada kits and would definitely build another one. If any questions about the build I'd be happy to answer. Comments are always welcome. Enjoy the pics!
  12. Hi guys, I finished up this build last night. New post in the "under glass" section.
  13. Marcos this is really coming along great. Nice work! I've been looking into trying embossing powder for carpet, do you have any tips on the process? I found some embossing powder that actually "puffs" up when a lil heat is applied. Stuff looks interesting for sure. Keep up the great work!
  14. Just a small update. Some pics of the intake installed. Only a few more detail bits under hood to add then finally time to get it all mated up.
  15. Stunning so far! The body is beautiful! Cant wait to see more.
  16. Hmmm ... Lee I may revisit using clear. I believe I did try laquer, thinking I may need to give enamel or future a shot. Thanks for pointing that out lol I was stuck on using epoxy but may just give this another shot now. Thats why I love this site, I tried to help someone and here I was the one who got helped as well. Nice, thanks guys.
  17. WOW! I think that is the most detailed suspension and braking system I've ever seen replicated in scale. Outstanding work and simply stunning scratch building. I've saved all of these pics for future reference lol. Cant wait to see more. Keep up the great work Simon, this is truly a work of art.
  18. Finally getting somewhere. I was able to get the intake tube mostly done last night. I mounted the airflow sensor and topped it off with a cable and MCG PE bolt heads. The air filter is also done except the adjustment screw on the hose clamp. Mocked up the tube and filter for a couple pics. Should have this mounted shortly and continue to wrap up the engine compartment detailing soon. So far I'm really happy at how she's turning out.
  19. Drew, while this may be true .. I can tell you that I've accidently "touched" ever so slightly parts that were mounted with the "clear" method only to have them fall off the model. This may have been simply be removing a hood or final detailing of a sub assembly. Clear just does not give a good bond IMO. It may work but for how long will the bonded PE piece stay put? How delicate may that PE piece be afterwards? Again just personal preference. I clearly like epoxy, you apparently like clear. I stated to the OP to try both methods and listed pro's and con's of each. Now we can carry on. Happy building!
  20. Its personal preference, not really a right or wrong answer here. Epoxy requires more work (mixing, etc) however the most tiny of drops of epoxy is MUCH stronger than using a drop of clear, future, etc. Plus epoxy allows a few minutes of repositioning time regardless of how tiny the drop is. You will NOT have this with using a tiny drop of clear as it will dry extremely quick. Epoxy also will dry clear. Plus I guarantee a pinhead size drop of epoxy is stronger than a drop of clear which has much more chance of leaking out under your part yet yields much less strength. I know folks use clear to mount PE parts, all the power to them. I myself have not had luck with doing so and have always felt the parts are not secure enough for my likings. Using epoxy may take a bit more work on the front end, but because of all of the benefits I mentioned I find myself not having to ever re-do any mistakes with positioning or parts falling off or leakage, etc. Try both and see what you feel allows the best working time and positioning of your parts. Good luck.
  21. I always use Devcon 5 minute epoxy for tiny detailing bits like that.

Marcos .. this build is brilliant and stunning. The paint is beautiful and looks flawless. Very cool. I wouldn't mind having that on my shelf for sure!
  23. I'm diggin' it! I like the garage space you used for the photos also. Very cool + sweet color. Nice job.
  24. I'm a total resin newbie, but I'd like to try my hand at it very shortly. My question is this ... can I make a mold of a model car part (say any engine part, block, heads, etc) that has been previously painted or that is in primer? I'm looking to improve and cast some turbo's and engine components and these items will need to be in primer after I modify them. Wasn't sure if the primer/paint would come off or stick to the mold. I've got a vintage Ford 427 SOHC thats been quietly waiting to be cast in resin for over 20 years. I'm looking at doing that also! Appreciate any and all help. Thanks fellas!
  25. Thanks as always fellas. Small update. Nearly finished with the air filter. I decided to increase the diameter of the 'filter element' by using a larger diameter aluminum tube. Now the base of the filter is together with the filter mounted in place. Also added the aluminum mesh. I punched a hole out of the filter top (not pictured .. its drying lol) so I could detail the inside of the filter. The silver cone looking bit fits inside the filter to mimic the intake venturi piece found on some K&N Extreme filters. This was made by shortening a silver beading cone from the craft store. The filter top trim ring was punched from .005 aluminum plate. Lastly, that tiny white bit is a scratched air flow sensor which will mount on the intake tube later. More coming soon!
