OK, I switched over ...well actually my daughter switched me over to Firefox and things seem to be working better on here. Except, I don't see where to check out the new skins and I don't see a Refresh selection anywhere.
OK, the house is real, the flower in front of the car is fake, the car itself is a bit trickier. It looks quite real but some things, as pointed out by others, say model so that's my vote.
I know some of the real belly tank lakesters had the drivers fully enclosed, they didn't have an opening for the drivers head to stick out of the body. It seems to me I saw resin body like this at a model shop at least 5 years ago. Does anyone know if such a model exists now, or in the past?
Jairus, Thank you for the link to lakester photos.
Interesting (and challenging) project you've started here. Thank you for posting the photos and information on your build. I'll be following this to the finish. Very cool.
Interesting thoughts Craig and Bill. The Avanti does sort of have the pony car "look". It was a very unique style for the early '60s. I've always thought it is one of the nicest looking cars produced. The price and being new and "unknown" probably hurt it's sales.
I remember looking at the Avanti with my parents and hoping they would buy one but they didn't want to spend that much for a car (they bought a '63 Chevy Impala instead).
I've tried logging on to the WRC website for a couple days now and get "This page cannot be found", or some such message. Anyone know if they are still in business?
