  1. A triple whammy! Now this is the kind of build that the old AMT kit is made for.
  2. Wow! Another killer deuce.
  3. Killer deuce! Where would we be without the Revell deuces huh?
  4. Very nice build !
  5. Thanks everyone. For anyone wanting to build this kit, it is typical Tamiya. Flawless quality. No flash and perfect fit. some of the best scale tires ever (check the tread in the first pic). I especially liked the dry transfer metal scripts and didnt care for the one piece window unit which requires cutting if you want open windows. i painted the wheels with Testors metallizer as my buddys car had the chrome accessory covers that went over the entire wheel and fit behind the stock dog dishes. Body was clear coated with testors enamel glosscote and this Valspar color didnt take nearly as long to dry as the bumblebee yellow that I put on the Cuda convt. As for being fast davezinn, it topped out at 80 mph and felt like it was going to leave the ground at that speed. Next time I will clean the bird poop off the table before I take pics
  6. A graphite gray color would look good on it and fit in with the futuristic theme.
  7. Old school buddy had one like this but his was never this shiny. Paint is Valspar mediteranean blue from spray can. OOB build.
  8. Heres a mockup of what it will look like. Still needs another coat of paint on body and fenders. This took it from a kooky show car to a much more dark and sinister look IMO. It almost looks plausible now. I can picture old conceited Hermann having this one custom built for himself. Whats amazes me is I have never seen this kit built in any other color but the desert tan. Im doing the driver skeleton with his arm hanging outside the door "bad boy" style.
  9. Thanks for the comments everyone. I didnt blank out the state Jay, its just obscured by shadow. The pics were taken in very harsh morning sunlight. I like taking pics in this light because it makes the chrome really sparkle and it hides some of the flaws in my building . I dont doctor my pics at all except for cropping.
  10. Oh yeah! That looks great. Got one of those Im going to do as a moonshine runner.
  11. I remember having a couple of obscure kits that I cant recall the manufacturer. One was a twin engined show car that I think was called the Invader? It had gold plated parts instead of chrome and a picture of the real car on the box. Also had a bathtub show car that was different from the Monogram bathtub buggy made by the same company as the Invader. Also remember a modern "what if" version of a Duesenburg. i can remember my parents telling me to be sure and get an AMT kit so it wouldnt be so frustrating to build. Hows that for a model company reputation?
  12. I remember that one vizio. Saw it not too long ago on the Boomerang channel.
  13. I would love to watch this cartoon on youtube but I am one of the dinosaurs that still has a dialup. life is just too short to watch video with a dialup.
  14. I really, really, REALLY like this build! Those are the best spinner caps of all time. Much better lookin than Lancer four bars IMHO.
  15. Thats one of the best chops on this body I have ever seen. Wish I had the skills to do major body work like that. I agree with Bluesman about the sectioning, although it is a good bit of work. Sectioning a shoebox Ford always gives them much more of a sports car look.
  16. From what I recall, there was a large flange at the bottom of the body that caused the bumper to stick out from the body too far and I had to trim that off. On a 1/16 body that was a lot of trimming! Or maybe I did something wrong when I built it.
  17. I horde all the Bluestreaks I can get to use on 60s - 70s muscle cars as they are perfect for this application.(hint hint Revell) . Has anyone tried the 49 Merc tires on the 32s?
  18. Oh yeah, Tex Avery...now I remember! (in my best Tommy Chong voice)
  19. I built the hardtop kit as one of my last models before i lost interest in the hobby for a few years so 1976 sound about right. Dont recall which box it was in but I bought it at a Kmart along with an MPC 1 /16 split window Stingray. Remember having to do some major cutting to get the back bumper to fit right on the 57. Thats a great find man.
  20. There was an old cartoon that I havent seen in years about a little car that wanted to be a hotrod but his father wanted him to be a taxi like himself. This must have been made in the 30s im guessing. I know some of you old geezers have seen it.
  21. Man, that is just too cool. I love "cartoon cars"
  22. Gosh, you guys really know how to make a person feel welcome! Think Im gonna be diggin it here. Hope to get my camera fixed so I can join in the WIPs. Wouldnt ya know it broke the same day I joined this forum. Everything I have posted so far are old pics. as far as Im concerned, every year is a classic.
  23. Fantasic Shelby. Great paint and I like the engine too. the wheels go very well with the car.
  24. As requested - engine pics:
  25. I think it needs whitewalls too. Nice chop and I like the rearend treatment.
